This nice bar and grill has excellent food. The Brussel sprouts appetizer is amazing and I had never tried Brussels sprouts before, nor had a desire to! The pork shank was delicious and my husband quickly realized he didn't need a knife. I had the shrimp and grits and loved it. Total disaster on a very slow evening at Page Road. I met my good friends for a drink and a light dinner around 7:30 on a Saturday evening, there were only 2 other small groups seated in the bar, and a total of 4 people sitting at the bar. We waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone even came over to our table, at which point we ordered 3 glasses of water, my friends each ordered a beer, and I asked to sample 2 different red wines. When the server came back, again, nearly 10 minutes later, she brought the 2 beers and 2 wine glasses with a teeny splash of wine that was barely even enough to taste, but I chose one nevertheless. At that time, we asked again for water and place an order for 2 appetizers. We had to ask at least three times to get our water, and another 3 times to have it refilled. Our appetizers were brought out one at a time, the first taking nearly 15 minutes and the second another 10. Throughout the evening, the waitress would disappear for long periods of time, and never checked on us about the quality of our food, whether we needed more beverages or water or anything at all. I ordered a small filet with a butternut squash accompaniment. The filet was *okay* although had been drizzled with a balsamic vinegar that really took away from the flavor of the meat. The butternut squash, however, was nearly inedible. It was completely dried out and chewy. I left all of it on the plate, but when the waitress cleared our plates, she did not question if there was a problem with it (a dead giveaway when something is completely untouched). We then sat for nearly 30 minutes with NO-ONE coming to our table. We had planned to have another drink, and sat the entire time with completely empty glasses on the table. Again, no-one was coming through the area (no servers, managers, bussers, hostesses) that we could ask for help. It was really an awful experience. Our bill at the end of the night was $140. - which is a lot for 3 people with only 2 rounds of drinks, 2 appetizers and 2 small plate entrees - and we felt completely ripped off by that amount. I have never had a GREAT experience at this restaurant, but this was the first truly horrible one that I've had. Not only will I not return here (nor recommend it), I am likely to avoid all of the CH Restaurant Group establishments completely. read more

My sister reserved tables for about 15 people following her bridal shower earlier in the day. She had raved about the restaurant before but I was unimpressed during our visit. For an appetizer, a few of us shared the Shrimp and Corn Hushpuppies. The flavors didn't mesh well together, especially not with the pimento cheese dip it is paired with. We sent it back and instead ordered the Onion Rings which were just that, onion rings. Disappointed, we ordered some drinks which were actually pretty strong. I stopped by PRG with a couple of friends for lunch - we all work in RTP so this was a convenient spot to meet. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but that is the case any where in RTP during lunch time. We were seated immediately and our server was very polite and attentive. I had the Spinach salad and added chicken. PRG offers small and large portions of their salads, which I definitely like to see. I ordered the small and added chicken, but I was pretty surprised at how small my salad actually was. It was basically a handful of spinach spread out on the plate to look more plentiful than it really was. Also, I am pretty sure I was given half a chicken breast, not a full. I realize I ordered a small salad, but when you pay $4.00 extra to have chicken, I would at least like the full chicken breast. All the ingredients were super fresh, and my chicken was grilled really well. It was not all dry and rubbery like chicken can get if it gets over done. So, the redeeming quality here was the freshness of the ingredients. Honestly though, a small salad with half a chicken breast for $10 is a little outrageous. Used to eat here twice a week, sadly $5 appetizers have become $9, burgers that were $9 have become $14. The service has done the opposite, a friendly attentive staff has slowly spiraled into a can't be bothered to refill your drink because they are all chatting in the corner about the latest gossip. I seriously had to wait 5 minutes at an empty bar to put in a drink order. Never again PRG, this is the second time you've disappointed me with horrible service. First stop yesterday for lunch while returning from Raleigh. They were busy; but, we were seated quickly. We had the blackened fish sandwich & the cheeseburger, both with house-made chips. Food was great, burger was the best we've had in the Triangle. Service was quick & attentive (we ate in the bar area), and the price was reasonable for our meal. Food was sub par. I had a burger which tasted awful - it was thin and overcooked (I asked for medium - it was well done). I asked for blue cheese and it was almost non-existent.....just a very thin 'glaze' on top of the burger. A burger is hard to screw up and this was just not good. While the construction was going on at Page Road Grill, we anxiously awaited the grand opening from across the street. Yes! Finally, a new spot for lunch in RTP!!! A week or so after it opened, my girlfriend and I set a lunch date and ventured over. I must say, I was absolutely disappointed in the menu and the service. It fell absolutely flat. They have few to none gluten-free options (other than salads). If you have tacos, why not offer corn tortillas at least? The atmosphere is lackluster...dull... absent. I'm all about LEED construction, but give me something to look at... anything. A few months later and a few members of my team decide we'll head over before a late night work event. I ordered the pork tenderloin with mash potatoes. Fab, fab, fab meal. I'm split really with my rating. I'm feeling like a 3, maybe a 4. Going with the 4. My husband has been eagerly awaiting the opening of Page Road Grill for quite some time. This place has a great location right off 40, next to a whole bunch of offices, so no doubt he's not the only local tech worker wishing for a new lunch spot. Sure enough, when we stopped by last Friday for lunch, the place was packed. We were initially told a 30 minute wait for a table for two, but it ended up being only about 5 minutes before we were seated. We got a nice little corner seat in the bar area with a decent view of the place. It's got a look like re-purposed industrial, but it's actually all new construction. I was immediately impressed with all the local beers on tap. They also have a beer flight, though a bit pricier than the one at Spirits. Unfortunately I had a lot of things to do after lunch, so I didn't have an opportunity to try the beers that day. I ordered the cauliflower cheddar bisque for an appetizer, the "simply fish" dish for an entree, and my husband ordered the grilled hanger steak for his entree. The waitress asked when I ordered if I wanted the soup out first, and I said yes. Sure enough, the soup was brought out just a couple minutes later, piping hot and with fresh cheese grated on top. It was very savory, creamy and had just the right amount of bacon. Our entrees came out a bit later. The plates were big, but the portions looked rather small. Of course, being after New Years, a lot of people will be happy to find small portions at a restaurant, but I know a lot of other people might find it skimpy. I was perfectly happy with the serving size, because with the soup it filled me up without making me overly full. The fish was quite delicious, and had a fantastic cream sauce. It came with some mashed potatoes which were also quite good, and what was described on the menu as a "kale salad". I was curious about what a kale salad would look like, and it ended up looking like 3 pieces of kale garnish around the fish and potatoes. Pretty pathetic excuse for a "salad". I checked their online menu again tonight and it looks like the "Simply Fish" is now being served with "corn and white bean fritter", no mention of a kale salad, so they might have fixed this issue since I was in on Friday. My husband's hanger steak came out pretty fancy looking, nice little steak bits served with a delicious sauce over a bed of sauteed spinach. The peppercorn flavor in the sauce was too strong for my taste, but my husband really loved the dish. I don't think I've ever seen him eat so much spinach either! They did a really good job on it. It was a bit more expensive than I usually pick for lunch, but grilled fish for $12 and a steak for $13 seemed reasonably priced. We were both really happy with our meals. I checked out the dessert menu, but I'm not a huge pie fan so I skipped dessert this time. Judging by the crowds, I think Page Road Grill is going to do really well, and be a good lunch spot for the RTP crowd. My company has gone there a couple of times, and we've asked whether they have vegan options. The kid at the front desk kind of snickers and say, yes they do. The problem is, it's a lame salad. It is not really valid anymore to say that a bunch of lettuce is a vegan option. These days, I expect decent filling vegan options that include tofu, mushrooms, asparagus, beans, etc. Get with the times or don't say you have anything reasonable for a vegan. read more

I got the spinach salad with salmon here today while having lunch with my old manager. The salad comes with spinach, grilled mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, actual bacon pieces, as well as croutons. The salads here are the typical base greens and then add your proteins for extra. Initially I thought it was a little pricey for $8 to add salmon to a salad, but the piece of salmon that came out was absolutely hugemongous and was perfectly cooked at medium. I also appreciated the small and large size options for the salads. For me, I found the small + salmon was perfect lunch portion size. I would come back again just for this salad. Not terribly impressed with the selection otherwise (sandwiches and burgers are not usually my to go foods, but if you like these there are plenty to choose from). Service was good, but if you have a group that's larger than 2 or 3, I would highly recommend making a reservation (for lunch) as there was definitely several groups waiting when we showed up at noonish. I just tried Page Road Grill yesterday for the first time. I'd been wanting to try it ever since construction phases; they recycle their rainwater - how can you say no to that? Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I was having a difficult time deciding. I asked our waiter, Dale, what his favorites were and went with his suggestion of the Beer Burger (he also suggested the Grain Salad, which looked amazing, but I wasn't feeling health-food conscious at the time) - I wasn't disappointed! The grass-fed beef was nothing short of amazing and the meat, while fattier than I normally buy, was the perfect blend and just the indulgence I was looking for. And the homemade chips - just get them! While the food and atmosphere were great, what's bumping this review up to 5 stars was our waiter. From the very first introduction, he remembered my dining companion from her visit there last week and even remembered what she wanted to drink! He was nothing short of attentive (but not intrusive) and polite (yes ma'am, no ma'am) the entire time. When we go back we're definitely requesting him again! read more

I came here on a Tuesday at 11:30am for a business lunch, in order to avoid the noon crunch. It seems like this place gets really busy b/c it was pretty full by the time we arrived and they had many reserved tables for larger parties. The hostesses were very nice, our waitress was very sweet and the food came out quickly. My colleague had a smoked chicken wrap and I had a cuban sandwich. There was a ton of pork in my sandwich and it wasn't pressed, as I expected it to be. The seasoning was pretty good but it seemed to lack something (perhaps it was just too much meat). The portions were generous so we ended up only eating half of our meals. Bill for 2 was $25, which is a great price. read more

At the moment, it's about the best restaurant option in RTP (a pretty low bar to clear). It's a little more upscale (relatively) and expensive than most of the other RTP spots -- so it's generally filled with preening yuppies, higher ranking business types, and lunchtime job interviews. Presumably as a result of dealing with such a clientele, most of the servers are abysmally unfriendly, unconcerned, and slow -- they seem to truly loathe their odious diners. The bartenders (at least during the day) are much more friendly and attentive -- so your best bet is to sit in the bar area and/or hope the bartender is handling your table, rather than one of the main restaurant servers. The food is often very good. But, as with most of the Chapel Hill Restaurant Group spots, the quality is highly variable. Occasionally, dishes will be made amazingly badly (overcooked meat, unseasoned food, forgotten ingredients, etc)... But, it's RTP, and with such a large built-in crowd, there isn't much incentive for a restaurant to be any better than this. read more

The kicker was when I asked what was floating in my water, I was told by bartender; "oops, an orange peel must have fallen in it". Nice. I've been here a few times as it's right down the street from work. Some recommendations if you trying to dine here for lunch - Arrive between 1130-1145 or make reservations via open Table. If you arrive around 12 - expect at 30-45 minute wait. Service has always been solid. The male urinals...I don't normally comment on this, however it's one of two main sore points for me about PGR. Think of using the restroom in a garbage can with a part of the cylinder cut out. Suffice it to say it's not a very hygienic design. My other sore point has to do with the burgers. They advertise a 7oz patty. Where is 16oz - 1 pound divisible by 7? That's pre-cooked weight according to the servers. I've had their burgers - flavor, moist cooked to order, their steak sandwich - well seasoned and tasty, their BBQ sandwich - good flavor, moist and tender and their Po-Boy. The Po-boy is probably the only one I wouldn't order again. Slightly overcooked and a bit gritty with a lot of carried over grease. Though I haven't been to every restaurant that makes up Chapel Hill Restaurant Group, 411 West is delicious, Mez is great for a quick business lunch, and Page Road Grill (PRG) is friggin' fantastic. The grain salad is my go to dish here. Barley, quinoa, cous cous, pecans, dried cranberries, cucumbers, arugula, grated parm, cinnamon vinaigrette on the side, and a veggie patty on top. Delicious, filling, and, when I'm not feeling greedy, enough for two meals. If you're planning on visiting Page Road Grill for a work-day lunch, reservations are highly suggested unless you don't mind waiting. Sad but true pro-tip: To drive business, PRG used to offer half-priced bottles of NC beer on Saturday afternoons. It was awesome. Now, they don't open until dinner-time. read more

It felt we were being herded in for our food and rushed to leave. From the start something either we had done or someone else had done left our waitress with a bad attitude. When the entrées arrived not but 5 minutes after we ordered all I could really say to the waitress was, "just go ahead and cancel the appetizers please." Gave it 3 rather than 4 stars because of the prices and what you get for the money. Pretty much your typical sandwich and burger bar, but a little more upscale with some unique entrees and a presence of local ingredients. Have gone for lunch twice but not yet dinner. Menu seems to be the same for both, prices too; you could either view it as a little over-priced for lunch or decently priced for dinner, depending on what you choose. Have a decent draft beer selection and, while the prices aren't anything special, I do like that all drafts are the same price regardless of what you choose. I new nothing about this place except from what I read in Yelp and honestly I was concerned. I had the opportunity to dine here with a large group made up of parents and teenagers when we were visiting the area for a soccer event. We are from Miami Florida and we brought in a group of about 35 people. I will say that it was way better than expected. We had called ahead so there was no wait time to sit down. The food was good and the service was great. Our server was able to split all the checks and get the correct food out mostly all at the same time. I would go again. read more

Green salad had pecans and cranberries and with the white balsamic, was quite lovely. Really enjoyed the shrimp burger. I read the words "Shrimp Burger" and I knew I just had to try it. The taste was not as appealing as the thought of it. I'm a shrimp lover and I felt that the flavor and simplicity I appreciate from shrimp got lost in the burger. It probably could ave used a little more seasoning at that point. To my surprise I was much more impressed by the grain salad it was served with. It was a really tasty salad and I had never tried grain salad before so I thought it was novel and wonderful.
