In this instance, I was purchasing a 2002 BMW 540i/6M across country, sight unseen. Luckily, a good friend of mine highly recommended Doug and team to do a pre-purchase inspection on the vehicle. Thankfully, I was working with a willingly compliant dealer in town, and Doug was able to diagnose and complete a number of critical repairs prior to my drive home at a very reasonable price. Doug squeezed in a number of critical repairs overnight and met with me on a Saturday, when the shop is closed, just so that I could complete my transaction with the dealer and get home for work and family commitments. I found a beautiful 2000 BMW M5 in Denver. Knowing how important getting a pre-purchase inspection for a car of this nature was I found Paddock Imports. Joe, a nice an knowledgeable technician, conducted the inspection in short order and I received, essentially, a clean bill of health for the car. New drive belts, a falling apart rear view mirror, some door handle paint coming off, and some water in the headlight assembly were the primary faults identified. Not too bad for a 20 year old car. I decided to bite, buy the car, and asked Joe to replace the drive belts. Flying out there I picked up the car to find that it also had a mysterious, but subtle, clanking noise over uneven roads and that the car salesmen had broken the rear view mirror clean off. Surprised by the noise and more than a little concerned, I called up Paddocks and talked to Doug, the owner, who was more than happy to check it out without any appointment. Please keep in mind that it was a Friday and just 1.5 hours before closing time. Doug knew that I was going to drive over 1,300 miles home the next day and didn't want me to experience any serious problems or be in any danger. His priority was clearly on me and the safety of the car when he offered to help on such short notice. Doug went on a test drive with me, listen to the issue, and went to work right away. Doug finished his investigation, tightening up some suspension bits along the way, and identified a likely root cause in a failed rubber dampener securing the oil filter in a little over an hour and a half. He also got my rear view mirror operational again without any additional charges. Doug, you gave me peace of mind on what could have been a very stressful and very long drive. Doug runs an 'old school' shop. He understands the importance of a relationship vs. a transaction. Here's an example of what I mean: I've taken my 330xi to him for the last few years. Just noticed I had a headlight problem. Called to see if he could help me - it's Friday afternoon ... "it's always crazy on Fridays, but come by and we'll see what we can do". I'm headed up to the mountains tomorrow for a week. Didn't want to be driving on unknown, snowy roads with just one "eye". His guys checked it out, replaced a bulb or a fuse or something, noticed i was low on air in one tire, fixed that. And here's the kicker ... they didn't charge me a dime. "Happy Thanksgiving" was their comment. If you're lookin' for the cheapest way to try to service your ultimate driving machine, you should probably look to get another car. If you're looking to keep your driving machine in ultimate shape, Doug, Jamie & crew are the place to go. I like this place already. Spoke w Doug on the phone regarding two problems I thought I had. He stated one is caused by the other and that we only need to fix one. I called Paddock Imports to schedule a pre-purchase inspection on a 2011 BMW X5 3.5i in early April, 2016. After speaking to Doug for a few minutes about what type of issues are typical for this model year of an X5, Doug sounded like he operated a well experienced BMW repair shop that would provide me with a worthwhile pre-purchase inspection on this X5 that was being sold by a non-BMW used car dealership that is nearby Paddock Imports. Being unable to get under the vehicle without the benefit of a lift, I felt it was important for a well-experienced independent BMW shop to give me an honest assessment of what the condition of the X5 was before I committed to purchasing the vehicle. On 4/6/2016, the dealer dropped the X5 off at Paddock Imports to conduct the pre-purchase inspection on my behalf (while I was tied up with work meetings). That evening (4/6/2016) Shannon @ Paddock Imports provided me with the results of the pre-purchase inspection. Based on the report and phone discussion that I had with Shannon, it was communicated to me that the vehicle looked good and there were no identified areas of concern (aside from the hail damage that I was already well aware of and the front brakes & fluid change were needed), I decided to purchase the vehicle. After the purchase of the X5, it remained parked in my garage while the replacement hood (for the hail damaged hood) and servicing materials (oil & air filters) were procured, and then taken to an autobody shop for replacement & painting. After getting the X5 back from the body shop, I got the vehicle up on my own ramps to perform the oil change on it. Before I removed the oil pan drain plug, I noticed there appeared to be an oil leak. I called Doug @ Paddock, he had me bring the vehicle back and was very fair with me in getting the oil leak repaired. I cannot say enough about the professionalism Doug exhibited in all of my interactions with him, and clearly customer satisfaction is a priority at Paddock imports! I had an issue with the self leveling system on my 2002 X5 4.4. I had previously taken this to another well liked independent shop with great reviews. I called the original shop and they were several weeks out and less than precise when answering my questions. I then went and called several other independent shops looking for an earlier service date and more precise answers to my questions. It was the same wishy washy answers and that is not what you want to hear when asking an expert. Feeling frustrated and out of hope I called a well known outfitter to see if they could possibly help. They did not work on BMW, but referred me to Paddock. I called and spoke to Billy on the phone. He immediately answered every question and assured me they could do exactly what I wanted and quickly. Two days later I walked in expecting to hang out in their lounge for a few hours while they got to my vehicle. Doug immediately walks to the back, grabs the diagnostic and walks out to my car. I was floored. He took the time to explain everything to me and even made small talk that did not at all seem fake. Just a real nice guy helping someone out. Turns out the issue was the previous independent may have made an error in setting the system. He did not bad mouth them or anything just showed me exactly what he saw and why it was there. 40 minutes later I am driving away knowing exactly where I will look the next time I need professional service. I took my 2001 X5 to both dealers to fix a shudder it experienced at 60-70 mph. Neither could diagnose the problem. I took it to Paddocks and they diagnosed the problem in 30 minutes and fixed it in 45 minutes...while I waited. Now the car is smooth as silk. While it was there they discovered a loose hose that would have been a problem--neither dealer noticed. I will never take my BMW anywhere else. read more

Maybe these folks do plenty of things right, but was my case it was just a comedy of errors. They charged an exorbitant amount of money to replace a ignition switch, simply outrageous, and we're unable to fix a simple problem with my heater fan which turned out to simply be the control panel. They had the car for 6 weeks and every time I would call would be confused or make excuses. I went down there several times and it just didn't seem like a very well run place. Your mileage may vary, good luck to anyone else who tries these people. Miguel at Firo repair shop on West Colfax easily has taken care of the heater problem, and several other things. Since recently moving to Denver I have taken my car in twice and both times was just amazed at their service. After numerous visits to Paddock, I found that after the 'romance' period is over (with the owner, Doug), you are basically left on your own (at his 'mercy') to wait and listen to excuses for when your auto will be ready (or, if he even wants to 'deal' with it). Doug is a narcissist and left me in many uncomfortable situations to fend for myself in getting my mechanical needs met ... let alone the time I spent going back and forth to his shop... (some of these problems where actually due to his lack of decision-making in handling my vehicle). Along with me, his arrogance has pushed other customers away and I'm writing this so it doesn't happen to you.... I have also heard that some business pay to have these reviews removed from sites... So, I can only hope that the rudeness I encountered (along with others) will alert people to go elsewhere, as no one deserves to be treated in an unprofessional manner and be left holding the bag where their car is concerned.... (after months, I finally had to go elsewhere to have my vehicle fixed which ended up being caused by his mishandling to begin with)... Doug only want easy, fast fixes so he can make fast money... and, forget taking an older vehicle there! read more

The first time I visited Paddock's I was very impressed. Communication was excellent and my car was repaired within a couple of days. Granted, it was a quick fix. What a difference a year can make. Paddock had my car for a month over what they said it would take. There was no communication and trying to get a straight answer out of Doug was nearly impossible. It was always 'we need to order a part' or 'we had an emergency' or something that delayed my repair. The professionalism was also lacking in that while I was sitting in the waiting area, I could audibly hear Doug bad mouthing other customers. I would never recommend any business that wouldn't treat everybody with the same amount of respect. The only difference I could see is that the old service writer was all about helping the customer and Doug is only all about himself. It's really a shame that what I considered a respected business has gone down hill. I would certainly recommend the technicians, but only if they worked somewhere else. read more

I've had 2 different service visits at Paddock; both of them positive and both of them resulted in fixing problems the dealer couldn't diagnose, let alone fix. Doug is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about doing the job right. He took the time to personally test drive with me to listen to the noises my BMW 335i convertible roof made. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and after getting a quote that was 80% less than the dealer, I authorized the repair. That was 2 years ago and it's still fixed to this day. My latest repair involved a persistent squeal coming from my right rear wheel after the brakes warmed up. Two different BMW dealerships had not been able to fix the problem in 5 visits over 2 years. I would get 2 to 4 weeks of relief after the brakes were reconditioned but the noise would always return. The techs at Paddock determined that I actually had a bad wheel bearing. The noise is finally gone! These guys have earned a loyal customer. read more

This shop is the absolute best! Doug Paddock is simply awesome. I have a 2011 BMW X3 and Doug literally saved me $4000. My vehicle was just off warranty when I took it in to have my summer tires put on this past May ... routine stuff. I had literally taken my car into the dealer 2 months earlier (while it was still under warranty) for an oil change and a final inspection prior to going out of warranty. Doug discovered an oil leak that should have been caught by the dealer as well as a steering column issue that in his opinion was a longer term issue than just a few months. He stopped his guys from working on my car and called me to update me....and then when I went to pick it up, he carefully coached me on what to say to the dealer to get these two items covered under my recently expired warranty. I took careful notes and made an appointment with the dealer. With Doug's coaching, my conversation went well with the dealer and they repaired both items and did it under the warranty (no cost to me). At the end of the day, Doug saved me almost $4000. He's honest and good. I'll never go anywhere else. We also take a 2008 Mini Cooper to Doug....since purchasing it used, we've had a few chronic issues that another local garage was never able to remedy. Doug's team corrected all of these issues on the first try. We are loyal to Doug and his team. I don't write many reviews. In fact, this is my first one. These guys are top notch! read more
