Let's first go over what makes great Carne Asada. 1. Flavorful 2. Juicy 3. Good cut(minimal to no grisle, bone, not flat/thin cut and not diced into kibble) 4. Tender Juanito's had some flavor, but it was VERY dry and tough and had far too much grisle. I just didn't like it at all. I had to force my way through it it was so dry, I dislike dry meat. I want to try a different meat, maybe it'll gain a star there, but for the Carne Asada? Hard pass. The service wasn't great either.

I brought my family here to try it. I ordered the Chimichanga with carne asada and my son-in-law ordered the carne asada potato. When I got my chimichanga it was huge! I shared it with the rest of my family because they hadn't brought everyones food. They liked it and when I took a bite the taste was amazing! I got french fries instead of the rice and beans. This was a good compliment to the burrito. I noticed that my family went again last night! I know that the torta was also good. I really don't think you can go wrong with most of the menu but I only tried the potato which had chunks of cheese, sour cream and bacon. Hot, fresh and delicious. The only thing I will say is that it would be better to get it to go since the dining area is not the nicest and if you must eat inside, the seating is limited. Overall a great experience! I am mostly about the food and I had no complaints there! Thank you for the great experience!

The first thing I noticed was how heavy the bag was with our orders and when I opened it up, the portion sizes were huge! Everything was very tasty, cooked and prepared to perfection, and both of us finished. What a great first impression. Fast forward a few days, we were craving a repeat so we returned and did the same order as our first time. Yes, the bag was heavy like the first time, but sadly that's where the similarities end. My taco was very tasty, but the enchilada was a disaster. I ordered the enchilada with shredded chicken, but my ordered got messed up, and instead of chicken, it was filled with cold shredded cheese that wasn't even melted. Honestly, it was kind of gross. So disappointing. If the cheese were at least melted, and the enchilada warm, it might have been edible, but the lukewarm tortilla filled with cold shredded cheese was a huge disappointment. Yuch. The beans also were nothing like the first time. They had the texture of being left in a blender too long. At least the soda's were ok, but their ice machine must be too small because both times, our sodas only had a couple ice cubes that melted by time we got back to our hotel. Overall I'd have to rate Ramiro's disappointing due to the inconsistency we experienced. They definitely can make outstanding Mexican food, but it seems they can't do consistently.

When he said Nico's, everyone got excited and when is Al's I had never had it, they told me I was in for a treat. They were right. I can still remember that burrito, as big as my forearm, stuffed with egg, potato, bacon and cheese. It was delicious to the last bite. I became a Nico's devotee from that moment forward. As I travelled the world, whenever I returned home to the Old Pueblo, stopping at Nico's became a ritual for me and my family. That's why this review is difficult to write. While the food is still tasty and the portions are sizable, the customer service was dreadful. Apparently my first mistake was to ask about the "Flying Saucer" which is the Thursday special. I was told that it's basically a chimichanga with an open tortilla. It comes in chicken or beef machaca. I asked which the employee prefers, and received a smart Alec response that their tastes are different from mine. My wife ordered a carne asada chimichanga, I ordered the chicken spaceship, my son ordered the chicken tacos. Our friendly attendant forgot to take the taco order and we had to pay for that separately. Apparently Nico's has adopted a pricing scheme where the displayed price is only for cash payment. A different price is charged for credit cards. This policy is explained with a small sign by the register. Nowhere does it explain the difference. Apparently credit cards negate the special. The attendant told me that Filiberto's does the same thing, when I asked about the difference in price of what was charged from what was on the menu. The funny thing is that I don't mind the surcharge. I resent the lack of transparency, and the rude behavior from the attendant. So, thanks for the memories. I don't need the attitude.
