Ashe at 6 months of age can be a bit of a handful , but Lindsey took the time to understand his behavior and tailored the training to his needs. After just two weeks, we noticed Ashe's confidence soar. Ashe is now much better behaved at the park, and he's responding wonderfully to commands like "sit," "place," "heel," and "come." This is the second dog I put through Off Leash K9 Training, and they truly help build trust between you and your pup. It allows you to take your pup into the world and enjoy life rather than sitting at home alone. I also love how Lindsey emphasizes the importance of consistency and makes sure we're practicing the right way at home. I feel so much more confident as a dog owner, and Ashe seems happier too! I highly recommend Off Leash K9 Training of Charlotte to anyone looking to strengthen the bond with their dog and improve both their quality of life and behavior!

She edited her videos so we could see a lot of what they worked on each day. Claire really understood Shadow and his needs. At pick up, she did a great job explaining everything to us, guiding us on how to follow through at home, and loving on Shadow one last time. You could tell he was sad to leave her. Claire was so encouraging and loving towards him. Shadow's been home less than a week and because of Claire, he is behaving so much better. He's been able to off leash and not jump on people he's greeting. Thank you so much Claire and Off Leash K9 Charlotte!

When we adopted Penny, we knew we wanted to start her off on the right foot, and Mariah was an obvious choice in the area. She has supported us with everything from potty and crate training to advanced manners, both at home and in public. Penny was a little shy at first, and Mariah's encouragement helped both her and us grow in confidence. Throughout the process, Mariah has helped us train Penny completely force/fear free, and has involved the whole family, even working directly with our 3- and 7-year-olds on occasion. She has tailored an approach that is unique to our needs, always listening to what is going well, and where we need additional support. Most importantly, Mariah has been super supportive of my husband and I as first-time puppy parents, but veteran dog owners. We have some hang ups from our first rescue, who we loved deeply, but didn't have the time or resources to train and support in the way we wanted to. Mariah has been patient as we've asked all the questions, an encouraged us every step of the way. We've had such a great experience with Mariah that we decided to extend our initial training sessions. We thought at first that we just wanted to get Penny's manners to a "good enough" place, but when we saw what's possible with Mariah's support, we were encouraged to raise our expectations, and are now on our way to have a dog that can be a constant companion for our family, at home, and in public!

As owners, we are firm believers in letting our dogs be dogs, but at the same time, remain near us no matter the distraction, when that becomes necessary on our outdoor adventures. From the moment Dave came into our home, Hank and Gerti immediately warmed up to him, and knew they had a new cool friend. Dave thoroughly went over his off-leash program, and spent a long time getting to know them on that first visit. We told Dave our goals for off-leash training, which was to let our dogs be dogs, not necessarily at our side all the time, but in a "bubble" around us, that would still allow them to play and explore, but return to us when called and/or ignore distraction when necessary. Dave was very easy to work with, very flexible schedule wise, and clearly very trustworthy, we knew our dogs were in good hands. Dave worked with our dogs one on one, came and picked them up, took them to parks, gave us progress reports, and after the amount of sessions he said it would take for the dogs, he came and trained us...! Dave's work was remarkable, Hank and Gerti are solid, and now our off leash walks and Northern Michigan adventures with our mutts will be stress free..! It's been two weeks since he graduated and we feel as if we were brought back a new dog (but who still had all the wonderful personality quirks that he did before leaving). I never thought I'd ever have a dog that I could let off-leash without worry of them running away... but now we do! I love that we can now confidently take him with us where ever we go, regardless of the social distractions, and know that he'll be a star pup. I also love that if we have issues in the future, AC and Dave are just a call or text away, whether we simply need advice or more intense instruction in a follow-up session. I cannot recommend Allegiant K9's 3-week board and train enough. It was worth every penny... and the cat agrees! :)

A friend of ours had just…read moregotten a puppy for her children and the apartment complex where she was living wouldn't allow her to keep the puppy so my husband and I wound up with this beautiful little puppy. We named her Daisy May. Daisy was exactly what we needed in our lives. She is truly a blessing. We had been talking back and forth about getting Daisy to a trainer so that she could be with us at work. We just didn't want to be without her all day. So I was reading an ad on Nextdoor Rubin Center and I called the number and I spoke to Mike Letterman on the phone and wanted to meet us and Daisy. As soon and Lance and I met Mike we just knew this is where we wanted Daisy to be trained, by Mike Letterman with Down Boy Down K9. The only thing we were hung up on was being without Daisy for two whole weeks but we know this is the route we needed to take. Mike took Daisy for two weeks and brought her back to us. We were amazed with the way Daisy learned her commands - because she was a stubborn dog. While she still can be stubborn, when we tell her Sit, Here, Place and all her different commands - she listens. She just knows! Mike spent some time with Lance and I teaching us what he taught Daisy and the commands he uses and the steps we take to continue the training. Daisy is wonderful and delightful. She is loved by everyone that comes to the office. We work at American Store & Lock # 5 on South Tryon Street in Charlotte NC and our customers will come to the office to see our Daisy May - they just love her so. We call her our therapy dog. She gets so excited when people come to the office she will get up and greet them to make a friend. We are so thankful we found Mike Letterman with Down Boy Down K9. He absolutely does a phenomenal job with training dogs and when the two weeks are up, it doesn't end there. He still calls to check on Daisy and checks on us to see how things are going and if we need any help in any areas. Mike is just a great guy and he is great at what he does and he truly enjoys his work. We made a friend for life with Mike and Shannon Letterman and our life with Daisy is an absolute treasure. Thank you Mike for all you do for us and for Daisy May!

We rescued our dog, Romeo. He was almost a year old and was described as "a little shy at first"…read moreand "working on leash training but doing well." Turns out he was scared of everything. He had never been exposed to people or traffic or noise. And when he walked on a leash, I had to carry him back. I called a few dog trainers. One told me he couldn't help my dog. Period. Another told me that she'd have to take my dog away for a month (even though we'd just adopted him) and shock him. When I asked them both if they would be willing to meet him first they said no. One finally acquiesced and said if you want me to come to your house and pay me $200 to tell you what I just told you, I will. I was feeling pretty hopeless to say the least. And then my friend saw the AFDT business card. I called the number and Cailyn immediately made me feel better! She said of course we can help your dog and would be willing to meet him. Things changed during the first session. Romeo not only walked on a leash, he walked back! And our trainer taught us about our dog. She said he was the "back of the pack" and needed us to lead. And then in our next sessions, she showed us how! By the end of his training, he not only had the confidence to meet other people and dogs...he did it at a crowded brewery! Two of them! We are very grateful to AFDT and our trainer! During our first session, I told her that one of our training goals was for Romeo to be happier. I think it worked.
