Knox was only 6 months, and Lucie was about 18 months so we didn't know how well they would do during the board and train.

Prior to enrolling in Allegiant K9's 3-week board and train, our 9 month old GSD Obi was difficult…read moreto handle on-leash,100% unable to go off-leash, distracted by everything, and took a little too much enjoyment in chasing the cat at every opportunity. It's been two weeks since he graduated and we feel as if we were brought back a new dog (but who still had all the wonderful personality quirks that he did before leaving). I never thought I'd ever have a dog that I could let off-leash without worry of them running away... but now we do! I love that we can now confidently take him with us where ever we go, regardless of the social distractions, and know that he'll be a star pup. I also love that if we have issues in the future, AC and Dave are just a call or text away, whether we simply need advice or more intense instruction in a follow-up session. I cannot recommend Allegiant K9's 3-week board and train enough. It was worth every penny... and the cat agrees! :)

Dave has helped me with both of my golden retrievers - Brewster (age 9) and Dutch (age 2). Dave…read morefirst helped me when Brewster was 4 years old and pulled on the leash so much that I didn't want to take him hiking with me. Dave quickly had us enjoying our hikes on leash (we now go all the time) and started Brew on off leash training. Fast forward a few years and he helped again with Dutch. When we moved to a new home and Dutch started fence fighting with the neighbor's dogs, Dave came and helped my husband and me learn how to correct Dutch properly with an e-collar. It has been about a month and we have made huge progress - we are already enjoying our backyard more with Dutch who is now ignoring the neighbor's dogs even when they jump on the fence! I can't thank Dave enough - when he started working with me and Brewster I was a first-time dog owner and didn't know much - he never judged what I hadn't done with Brewster and just focused on solutions. He also always made sure I fully understood and was comfortable with the training techniques (altering if needed). I highly recommend him!

We rescued our dog, Romeo. He was almost a year old and was described as "a little shy at first"…read moreand "working on leash training but doing well." Turns out he was scared of everything. He had never been exposed to people or traffic or noise. And when he walked on a leash, I had to carry him back. I called a few dog trainers. One told me he couldn't help my dog. Period. Another told me that she'd have to take my dog away for a month (even though we'd just adopted him) and shock him. When I asked them both if they would be willing to meet him first they said no. One finally acquiesced and said if you want me to come to your house and pay me $200 to tell you what I just told you, I will. I was feeling pretty hopeless to say the least. And then my friend saw the AFDT business card. I called the number and Cailyn immediately made me feel better! She said of course we can help your dog and would be willing to meet him. Things changed during the first session. Romeo not only walked on a leash, he walked back! And our trainer taught us about our dog. She said he was the "back of the pack" and needed us to lead. And then in our next sessions, she showed us how! By the end of his training, he not only had the confidence to meet other people and dogs...he did it at a crowded brewery! Two of them! We are very grateful to AFDT and our trainer! During our first session, I told her that one of our training goals was for Romeo to be happier. I think it worked.

We just finished a four-week board and train with Carson at The Dog Knowledge. Worth every penny!…read more Not going to lie - the first couple weeks were rough on us, not him. We missed him like crazy and worried about how he was feeling. Dennis actually had us come in halfway through, showed us what Carson had been learning, and said something that I keep thinking about: Carson wasn't missing us. Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

We are Lance and Amanda Clontz and we want to share our story with you. A friend of ours had just…read moregotten a puppy for her children and the apartment complex where she was living wouldn't allow her to keep the puppy so my husband and I wound up with this beautiful little puppy. We named her Daisy May. Daisy was exactly what we needed in our lives. She is truly a blessing. We had been talking back and forth about getting Daisy to a trainer so that she could be with us at work. We just didn't want to be without her all day. So I was reading an ad on Nextdoor Rubin Center and I called the number and I spoke to Mike Letterman on the phone and wanted to meet us and Daisy. As soon and Lance and I met Mike we just knew this is where we wanted Daisy to be trained, by Mike Letterman with Down Boy Down K9. The only thing we were hung up on was being without Daisy for two whole weeks but we know this is the route we needed to take. Mike took Daisy for two weeks and brought her back to us. We were amazed with the way Daisy learned her commands - because she was a stubborn dog. While she still can be stubborn, when we tell her Sit, Here, Place and all her different commands - she listens. She just knows! Mike spent some time with Lance and I teaching us what he taught Daisy and the commands he uses and the steps we take to continue the training. Daisy is wonderful and delightful. She is loved by everyone that comes to the office. We work at American Store & Lock # 5 on South Tryon Street in Charlotte NC and our customers will come to the office to see our Daisy May - they just love her so. We call her our therapy dog. She gets so excited when people come to the office she will get up and greet them to make a friend. We are so thankful we found Mike Letterman with Down Boy Down K9. He absolutely does a phenomenal job with training dogs and when the two weeks are up, it doesn't end there. He still calls to check on Daisy and checks on us to see how things are going and if we need any help in any areas. Mike is just a great guy and he is great at what he does and he truly enjoys his work. We made a friend for life with Mike and Shannon Letterman and our life with Daisy is an absolute treasure. Thank you Mike for all you do for us and for Daisy May!
