She edited her videos so we could see a lot of what they worked on each day. Claire really understood Shadow and his needs. At pick up, she did a great job explaining everything to us, guiding us on how to follow through at home, and loving on Shadow one last time. You could tell he was sad to leave her. Claire was so encouraging and loving towards him. Shadow's been home less than a week and because of Claire, he is behaving so much better. I was not satisfied with the approach of the trainer, Talasia C. During the session, she primarily remained standing against the wall and directed instructions toward me from a distance rather than providing hands-on guidance or active coaching. I did not feel supported during the class, and there was little sense of encouragement or kindness in the instruction style. At one point, comments were made suggesting that my dog "needs more classes to get used to the routine," which came across as dismissive rather than helpful or constructive. I also sensed she cut my time short. I was looking for a more engaging and supportive training environment, especially in a foundational-level class where guidance and encouragement are important for both handler and dog. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations. I'm sharing in the hope that it helps improve the consistency, coaching approach, and overall experience for future participants.

We missed him like crazy and worried about how he was feeling. Dennis actually had us come in halfway through, showed us what Carson had been learning, and said something that I keep thinking about: Carson wasn't missing us. Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

When we adopted Penny, we knew we wanted to start her off on the right foot, and Mariah was an obvious choice in the area. She has supported us with everything from potty and crate training to advanced manners, both at home and in public. Penny was a little shy at first, and Mariah's encouragement helped both her and us grow in confidence. Throughout the process, Mariah has helped us train Penny completely force/fear free, and has involved the whole family, even working directly with our 3- and 7-year-olds on occasion. She has tailored an approach that is unique to our needs, always listening to what is going well, and where we need additional support. Most importantly, Mariah has been super supportive of my husband and I as first-time puppy parents, but veteran dog owners. We have some hang ups from our first rescue, who we loved deeply, but didn't have the time or resources to train and support in the way we wanted to. Mariah has been patient as we've asked all the questions, an encouraged us every step of the way. We've had such a great experience with Mariah that we decided to extend our initial training sessions. We thought at first that we just wanted to get Penny's manners to a "good enough" place, but when we saw what's possible with Mariah's support, we were encouraged to raise our expectations, and are now on our way to have a dog that can be a constant companion for our family, at home, and in public!

I suppose they are so busy which is a good sign though. Next time I'll make my next appointment while I am still there.

I cannot, in good faith, recommend Camp Bow Wow in Fort Mill…read more We dropped off our very social 1-year-old rescue, Moose, for boarding on Friday, July 17 while we were on vacation. On Tuesday, July 21, I received a call around 1:30 p.m. informing me that Moose was favoring his leg and would be taken to the vet. I asked for pictures and provided the contact information for our veterinarian, but received a text stating that our vet was experiencing technical issues, so they took him to their veterinarian instead. We then received a call from their veterinarian, who suspected Moose had been bitten by a snake. Pictures and X-rays were sent to us, and the veterinarian recommended transferring him to an animal hospital for 24-hour observation because he was running a fever. Later that evening, after Moose had been transferred, the veterinarian called again to inform us that it was not a snake bite but an infected dog bite. The veterinarian indicated that the bite most likely occurred on Monday, July 20. Adding to our concern, while Moose was at the animal hospital on the evening of July 21, I received a text from Camp Bow Wow containing photos of him and the message: "Hi Mom, just wanted to let you know I am doing good and I love you and cannot wait to see you." Although I assume this was an automated message, given that they knew Moose was no longer at the facility and was receiving treatment at an animal hospital it was inappropriate and insensitive. I drove five hours home that night and picked Moose up from the animal hospital on Wednesday, July 22. Due to his condition, I informed Camp Bow Wow that he would not be returning for the remainder of his boarding stay and paid for his boarding from Friday through Monday. That same Wednesday, the owner told me they would review the video footage to determine what had happened. The owner called on Friday, July 24 and stated that, after reviewing the videos, nothing was observed other than normal play. When we returned from vacation, I returned her call on Sunday, July 25. I then left additional messages on July 27, July 29, and August 3, but have yet to receive a response. I also contacted Camp Bow Wow corporate on August 1 and again on August 3, with no response. In all of my messages, I have politely requested a return call to discuss the situation and have not asked for anything. I am disappointed by both the lack of response and the lack of care provided while Moose was under their supervision. I understand that dog bites can happen, but in this case the injury occurred while he was in their care, became infected, and resulted in $1,500 in veterinary expenses. I believed I had found a place where Moose would be safe and well cared for, but I now find myself looking elsewhere for daycare and boarding services.
