They'd just had to close for (10 days?) a Covid outbreak amongst their groomers/employees, and on the first day they were back open, no one wore a mask. I stood far from the desk and refused to come any closer until the associate helping me put one on, but as soon as she went to the back to get my dog, it came right back off. And I could tell she was talking about me as soon as she got back there because everyone still in the grooming room turned to look at me. Perhaps they thought it was a hoax up until it affected their business to the point of having to close, you would think this would be the wake up call to mask up, but it was not. If you care about mask wearing, be weary going here.

One of our poms has a medical condition and Dr. Kimmel actually researched the problem and emailed some findings BEFORE we had even booked our visit. We took both in this week and were so impressed with the care received. We had well checks, discussed concerns and regular exams and everything was very thorough. Dr. Kimmel followed up with us the day following our visit which we also really appreciated. We highly recommend Down Dog/Dr. Kimmel for your pets needs.

We are deeply dismayed by how this clinic handled both our dog's care and our subsequent feedback…read more After a specific treatment choice here made our dog sick, we wrote a negative review to share our experience after the vet/owner Jennifer Kimmel didn't respond to a conversation my wife had with her colleague, Hannah about how sick our "Lola" got. Hannah's response was that they'd received other calls regarding both Apoquel and Cytopoint (sold by the same biopharma company). In response, we discovered that the clinic's internal medical records that we had to download -- they were not give to us as the records state) threaten a lawsuit against us. Furthermore, the records contain highly unprofessional and false personal notes. The owner of the practice wrote in the records that my wife is "demented"-- despite the fact that she has never once met or spoken to my wife on the phone or in person. Additionally, staff notes claim my wife was "always yelling in the background" during calls. In reality, I am hard of hearing, and my wife simply speaks loudly so that I can hear what she has to say. I also have not had any lengthy phone conversations with anyone at Down Dog. I've never spoken to Dr. Kimmel on the phone and only with her employee Hannah to describe Lola's condition and make an appointment. My latest call was to advise them of how sick our precious Lola was after the last visit (not good, very upsetting and advised them I sought 2nd and 3rd opinions -- I regret having told them that). Nevertheless, a well respected large clinic in Charlotte advised they would never have given her the drugs Apoquel & Cytopoint that made her sick (vomiting, diarrhea, very nervous, lack of appetite). It's incredibly disheartening to see a veterinary clinic respond to a medical setback and consumer feedback with hostile legal threats and very inaccurate personal insults in a patient's medical file. Dr. Kimmel accused my wife of slander (i.e. lying) after her initial Yelp review. Neither of us are liars and have ever been accused of slander in our lives! We trusted this clinic with our beloved pet, and we cannot recommend a practice that treats its clients this way.

He had a lot of medical issues and really honestly was not the most normal situation of owning your first dog. I loved him very much, but he was challenging to care for at times. Dr. Schoolmeester and staff got me through those times. They would get me in same day for emergencies and helped me help my little boy, who lived until he was 17! They were very kind and compassionate when I had to put him down. There was no pressure, and I took a long time making the decision to do it. They just put me at ease at the time. He was definitely a little local legend in the Vet community with all of his ailments, so we have seen many other vets and specialists, but we would always come back to Mixed Pet for his primary care. I've also used Mixed Pet when I found a stray that had parasites. I had another friend's dog that got sick while she was out of the country, and a lot of other crazy situations. They have gone above and beyond. They take very good care of my dog that I have now. So I definitely trust them to give me the right advice and the right care for my baby.
