To start, we told them specifically where the garage door openers would be so they could get into the house the first day. You have to go through the garage instead of the front door because it's too easy for one of our dogs to get out the front door and bolt down the street. When we first landed, we had a voicemail saying they couldn't find the openers and had to go to a neighbor's house to get a spare key. It was a good thing our neighbor was home, otherwise, our dogs wouldn't have even been checked on when they should have been. We returned home to find a bedroom door destroyed and the damage is extensive. Either this was done in one day and no one showed up to all day to help put a stop to it by blocking off the hallway, or it occurred over multiple days and again nothing was done to try to stop it and it was NEVER mentioned to us. They were asked to leave the garage door openers outside the house in a hiding spot so we could get in when we returned. One of the openers was, instead, left inside the house on the kitchen counter within reach of our big dogs. They, of course, got the opener and destroyed it leaving us with only one working opener. There was also so much poop and pee in the house when we got there that there's no way our dogs were let out during the day we returned (we got home after 9:00P). The owners claim that our dogs left that big of a mess every day, but they "require" 3 visits a day specifically to avoid that, so there's no way if our dogs were let out 3 times a day that they left that big of a mess. Our dogs are all house trained - including a 6-month-old puppy - and would never make that kind of mess inside the house unless they were left alone ALL DAY. My puppy is also required to eat all her meals in the bathroom because one of my other dogs is very food aggressive with her. You show her the food dish in your hands and she runs straight for the bathroom. Once we got home, though, she refused to eat in the bathroom which makes us believe that our instructions were not followed and that she was fed with the other dogs instead of being kept separate to avoid any problems. We contacted VIP Pet Services today and they blamed us for the garage door opener being chewed up because we don't crate the puppy - we also have a 3yo Boxer who gets into everything, which is why we don't leave things on the counter - even though we specifically asked them to leave the openers outside. They refuse to refund any of our money to help fix the destroyed door and the garage door opener and although they said they did a lot of things - like clean out the litter boxes - it certainly doesn't look like anything was cleaned the entire time we were gone (5 days). We will NEVER use VIP Pet Services again and I will be warning all of my friends and colleagues NOT to use them.

I recently moved to Huntersville and so had to find a new sitter for my American Bulldog. All the scheduling for services is completed online; Cindy walked me through this process with ease. We scheduled our consultation visit with Vinny and Sean the following day. I completed as much of my pups profile on line as I could and Vinny brought the form so we could finish what I missed. They were incredibly thorough; practicing placing the collar on CJ and even doing a "dry run" the next day before we left to ensure that CJ was comfortable. I texted almost everyday for updates and they were more than willing to accomadate. The brought the mail in, turned lights on and off as well as brought our recycling to the road side. When we got home we had handwritten notes from both Vinny and Sean detailing CJs care and reassuring us that the week was uneventful. We signed up for the white glove service with 3 visits a day and plan to utilize their afternoon walking service in the future as well. CJ is not just a dog but a part of our family and we would not have been able to enjoy vacation without knowing he was taken care of.

We were put in touch with Jill, to take care of our home and finches. Right off the bat we liked her. She was on time for the meeting, she was personable, and was interested in our birds. We were excited to leave, and felt so confident things would be fine, we didn't leave our house security cameras on. We asked jill to come every morning from 2/9 to 2/14. She said that wasn't a problem, and she would text me after every visit. My husband was at this meeting too, that is exactly what she said she would do. The good: our birds received daily care. They also got their cage papers changed, she left me extra newspaper, she got the mail, and vacuumed the area around the birds. The house was still as clean as I left it, and our house was secure when we got home. I would like to say this visit earned 4 stars, but there are communication problems........ We left early on the 8th and took care of the bird bath /drinking water before we left. I texted jill to let her know we left, I asked for text updates, and let her know what I took care of before we left. She said she would text me after every visit and we were confirmed. So the 9th I waited to hear from her in the morning, and didn't. I texted her to find out what was going on, and she said she had a doctor's appt in the morning, and now, after lunch, she was on her way. I was not aware of any other appointments she had, and our birds had to go a long time between when we left to when she arrived to change the bath water. I had to ask her how things went after she finally arrived, she didn't send me a text update automatically. I wrote Nancy to let her know what happened. She basically forwarded my info to jill. I would rather Nancy have talked to me instead of just passing the info back to where the issue seemed to be, communication with Jill. For the next few mornings, the texts consisted of 3 word sentences like: "all good here". Since there are no care notes being left at home, I felt that was very vague. Did we get mail? Are there any office notes left on the door? Are the birds doing okay? If all I am getting is just a text update, it should be a little more than "all good here". So on the 14th, the last day, I waited to hear from jill after her morning visit. At 1:20 in the afternoon I had to text her to find out what was going on at home. We were on a long drive, and I am having to chase down info from home. This is the pet sitters job. On their website they boast about the detailed notes you will receive from your pets. And how they give these long 30 minute visits for every pet visit. So I ask about the key. She told me when we met that she could drop it off. She knew it was my husbands key, no worries. So I asked her if she could stop by tomorrow. No. She now offers to mail it, or put it under the mat. I sent text instructions to put it on the back porch. So she went to lunch, and was going to come over. I heard nothing else. No confirming the key was left. She didn't respond to my text. So I wrote Nancy. I guess jill told her the key was left. Nobody updated me.....? I let Nancy know I wasnt pleased that on this trip I had to ask what was going on, she didn't tell me about the first day being late, I didn't know she left the key, and Nancys response was that jill told us both she had a doctor's appointment that first day, she only tells Nancy she leaves keys and not clients, there was no appologies for lack of text updates, and Nancy believes what jill tells her. Jill did not tell us the first day would be a delayed visit for any appointments . I know she didn't because the response from her was "well emergencies come up". I assume that when you talk to the owner, Nancy, there would be some acknowledgement or concern that her employee /IC/etc would be showing up, also a client having to keep asking for updates, and not knowing whether a key was left or not. I felt she was basically telling me it was my word against jills, and well, she said she knows what jill told her. Good to know where clients then stand. Any issues, she defends the sitter. But I have the texts. Me asking for info. Me asking if she had visited. Me having to ask her boss. I have the paperwork where I asked for morning visits. And no communication about the first visit being late. You shouldn't have to chase anyone down for info, details, especially, "have you been to my house today"????????? That is part of the job. And you know what, if something happens at a house, is this how it goes? The employee was in the right? They don't show up for hours, ah, that's ok. They don't let you know where your key is, that's ok. They don't even text you the last day so you know they were there.....REALLY? And I find it very suspicious that there are three new yelp reviews left today....when the last ones were 11 months ago....and all 2 days apart. Hmmm

Our pup adores her walker, Alyssa. While we can't rely on her telling us directly, we do get stopped by neighbors who make a point of mentioning that it's obvious that our dog walker loves our dog. That's as good as it gets. Additionally, and just as important they are very reliable. You know they will show up when they say they will. Prices are competitive with most other places.

And I've learned that my experience is rarely unique so if this helps someone who has similar situation here we go: We have a puppy that has some people fear, she's a rescue. She does ok if strangers don't reach for her head and they allow her to approach them first. Otherwise she'll growl and back away. (We met her sister when they were almost a year old and the sister was much worse. We have had our dog in training and she's improved drastically). Anyway, this service was going to come take our dog for walks. Robin was not available, although she came over to meet and assess first before approving us as clients, and so she had a younger girl that was working for her come over. This girl seem like she loves dogs and she did not seem uncomfortable with our pups anxiety so we allowed her to take the dog for a walk one morning, and we would be out when she returned but she was to let us know how it went. We didn't hear anything back until we sent repeated texts that day then heard from the owner that "something happened" and it didn't go well, But she knew nothing else. We were really worried since this was one of the first times a virtual stranger walked our dog for us. The girl didn't got back to us nor did the owner until the next day! I finally tracked the girl down and she said she was uncomfortable walking our pup- it didn't go well because she growled at someone and pull on the leash on the walk. well I was really relieved it wasn't something worse, but fully annoyed that she gave us zero feedback and let us just wonder and then seem to be really flaky. I can handle my dog although it's my first because the trainer explained to me how you teach a dog to walk on a leash and what to do when the dog growls or try to chase a squirrel. To me these are kind of basic dog things but this girl was unsettled. She told us she could not walk our dog anymore because she lunged on the leash etc. I am very inexperienced and I'm able toWalk my dog. Or if a problem arises I can predict/solve it with my very little training. This girl decided that the dog would be without behavior issues if we let her have free roam of the house. That is the opposite of what our trainers who have been doing it for 25 years and other friends with dogs have saidOur puppy does well in predictable routine's and experiences. She has a large penned area in the kitchen when we are not homeand she's allowed to freely roam the large kitchen and the backyard. But she's a puppy and has accidents and chews so we're certainly not going to let her roam the house on her own. I pursued this line of thinking but I didn't get any satisfying answers. My overall experience is that this service is quite amateur although loving. So might be right fit for the right owners and the right dog. Incidentally, with a little more searching we found the right puppy play groups and walkers for our very good but fearful pup.

Our Australian Shepherd (3 years old at the time) had severe anxiety which resulted in aggressive behavior with strangers and other dogs. Despite working with other trainers, her behavior only got worse- she ended up biting a dog walker we had hired and would behave so wildly/aggressively in public that we got to the point of saving her walks until night-time when no other people or dogs were around. It was embarrassing and we had no idea what to do. We found Lena online and immediately after talking to her on the phone, I knew she was the real deal. After ONE session with Lena, Roxie no longer pulled on the leash (she had always been very bad at pulling) and we already saw an improvement in her social behavior. We had a total of 5 sessions with Lena, the last one being in March of this year before moving to Florida. With each session, Roxie made huge improvements and we were also taught how to effectively reinforce her training between sessions and communicate with her. Roxie is like a brand new dog now. We moved to downtown Miami, so there are people/dogs everywhere, as well as busses, cars, etc and she shows no anxiety or aggression at all. We also adopted another dog in June and he and Roxie are the best of friends. Before, Roxie could not be around other dogs at all. And now, she has a brother who she totally loves!
