Our dog pretzel had a great first day going through his orientation and play day! It was our first time going to doggy day care and I was more nervous than he was. The staff was super accommodating with my questions and they were also super thorough on getting pretzels background to ensure he and the other campers stay safe which I really appreciate. Drop off was easy, all of the other dogs were super excited to be there and went straight back which gave me peace of mind knowing other dogs enjoyed it so much. I love that we can watch the dogs on the multiple cameras and that we have a schedule on where they will be through the day. Come pick up time, he had a great progress report and was cleared to come back anytime he wanted! He was also exhausted which was the goal! I like that they offer a discount on return visits within 30 days of orientation too. We are excited for pretzel to continue his socialization and to burn off all his energy in a fun, safe environment. read more

I would like to address these issues that I witnessed on the I-dog webcams at Camp Wagging Tails yesterday (June 16). Your staff, by far, was underwhelming and I felt so sorry for the dogs who looked like they were craving attention and love from your handlers. I did not see any offered, except by one person who gave attention to a small dog who was with the little dog group. I actually saw the opposite with handlers removing dogs from their laps and holding their arms away from dogs who only wanted affection. I saw dogs being sprayed with water bottles from behind, I saw a dog being sprayed just because he came close to a handler to get attention. I saw handlers basically just sitting and I saw dogs sitting. I saw a black dog being bullied, rolled, and pinned as the staff did nothing. One staff member walked by the poor black dog being pinned and just looked straight ahead. I consider this to be negligence. I personally thought this dog was too small to be with large dogs. (I hope the owner of this dog was watching on the webcam). I saw no engagement by staff, and it was just so sad because the dogs clearly wanted physical petting. I saw handlers on their phones, and they flat out looked like they'd rather be anywhere other than with dogs. I saw many of the dogs standing or sitting because the handlers were sitting or walking around in circles picking up dog feces.. We go to a different doggy daycare regularly where the handlers run, and play and engage the dogs and the dogs run and play and they're happy. Maybe consider modeling after them? The only reason we came here was because our regular place gets very popular in the summer. These dogs did not look happy. This place seems to take unlimited number of dogs. I couldn't believe the number of dogs I saw in one group. Insane! We didn't come get our dog sooner from your facility because we were working. I do believe these dogs deserve better attention from handlers based on what their owner's pay for quality care. These handlers from what I could clearly see on the webcams (in every play yard) acted like the dogs were an annoyance to most of the time. Take your dog elsewhere. Lexi the Corgi's Home Away from Home Lexi is a 5 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and he loves Camp Wagging Tail. You pull up in the driveway and he immediately know where he's at. You open the car door and unless you immediately catch the leash, you catch up with him at the front door. They take good care of there clients and while it's quirkly and does not work all of the time you can log onto the web cams and check up on your dog during the day. We don't get him here as ofter as we would like or rather, as often as he would like but when we do, he comes home exhausted from all of the playing. Have been disappointed in Camp since new ownership took over. We have a very friendly, bigger dog that has always loved coming there because he loves to play. Never had a problem under the previous management but with the new, we were asked to only drop our dog off during the first hour. Our last experience, we were told our dog "attacked" another dog and that dog had to go to the vet. When we asked to see the yard video we were told they could not do that and we had to just "believe" it was our dog as the aggressor and pay the vet bill. In our opinion, the new management does not know how to handle a very playful, bigger dog and also puts big and little dogs in the same yard area. After 10+ years of coming here, we will now be going to another to another doggie daycare. read more

One of the most popular kennels around. Seriously, everybody talks about this place, which means there is usually a waiting list. I've never heard of such a thing for a boarding kennel. The building itself isn't huge, because Camp Wagging Tails doesn't shove the dogs in interior cages like a lot of places. Wonderful Place! My husband and I are in the process of moving to the Charlotte area. One weekend we came down to do some house hunting and we had to bring our dog along with us. Because of my poor planning we didn't have anywhere for him to go during the day while we were looking at houses. So while we were driving down I searched on my phone to find a doggy daycare and came across Camp Wagging Tails. I contacted Camp Wagging Tails by e-mail to see if there was any way I could get my dog in for a day of play. Within 15 minutes I received a call back informing me of what information they would need in order for my dog to stay for the day. The people there were very accommodating to our situation and when we came back to pick up our dog they recommended vets in the area for when we do move down. Such great people, I will definitely be bringing my dog back once we move. read more

This place is fantastic! I brought our two pups here for their first visit over the weekend, and man was it worth every penny. They spent two nights at camp and came home so exhausted and happy from playtime -- exactly what we wanted! These people clearly know what they're doing and have excellent procedures in place to manage everything: drop off, pick up, boarding, grooming, feeding, playing, and everything else. The staff is friendly and clearly enjoys what they do, and they have both indoor and outdoor play areas for dogs in case of rain or other inclement weather. My dogs came home smelling yummy, so I think they wipe them down with doggie wet naps after playtime, which is fine by me. You bring your own food, but you don't need to provide toys or bedding, which saves a lot of planning time when you're dropping off your pups. Great way to entertain your dogs while you're away at work or on vacation, or if they just need some play time to get out some errant energy. Only downside is that there's a pretty hefty cancellation fee ($25 per dog) if you cancel too close to your boarding date, but I guess that's not so different from a human hotel. I also wish their overnight camp were a wee bit cheaper - $66/night for two dogs means that I usually choose the vet ($60/night for 2 dogs) instead of CWT, even though I would rather have the pups at CWT every time. read more

As a long time customer of Camp Wagging Tails, I cannot emphasize enough the level of professionalism, care and respect they give to their clients. When I first rescued my dog 7 years ago, she had been abused and was very weary of other humans and dogs. Just boarded my Golden at CWT for the past four days. I have NEVER boarded one of my dogs before but after seeing the way they treat all of their 'campers,' both their day campers and boarders, I felt extremely comfortable that my guy was going to be very well taken care of... and he was. All of my instructions with regard to medications, etc., were followed, I was able to view him whenever I desired, when I called just because I felt anxious being away from him or had any concerns, the staff went out of their way to calm my anxiety and address my concerns immediately. Really love this place. Even more so, my dogs love this place (that's what it's really all about). It's always a great sign when the dogs drag you through the door and come home at the end of the day and just flat out crash from all the play time. Our dogs have been going here once a week for several years now. When we head out of town they typically get boarded here and love every minute of it. We also get the peace of mind knowing they are taken care of. I've spent many years running a foster home for a humane society where I was the primary care giver for six +/- dogs at any given moment. From what I can see, there is a lot of great practice and genuine care by Camp Wagging Tails for all their campers and boarders. It also speaks well for them when you have to plan ahead for space during peak seasons because so many people also love this place. I have boarded my dog here 3 times that is enough! The attitude they have is that they are doing the customer a favor. They might want to consider a business plan that is providing clients with convenience, and a feeling that they actually enjoy animals. Stay away from Camp Wagging Tails. I was really excited to find a place where my 19 month old dog could go run and play and get some adolescent energy out. Mind you, this is not my first dog and other dogs have been in doggy daycare before and I loved the experience. But that wasn't the case here at all. When we arrived for the temperament test, they took her from me immediately and locked her by herself in a room just off the lobby while I was going over paperwork. They didn't give her time to sniff around, they didn't so much as let her sniff them. She immediately starting barking, crying her scared cry and scratching at the door. I asked what the room was and apparently its one of their grooming rooms. I asked why she had to go in there and they said they were waiting for the other dogs to go to the play yard before the test. I totally got that they needed to wait for that, but again, I asked why she couldn't just wait with me in the lobby until they were ready. No real answer. I explained that it was making her scared and they had no answer. I was reassured it would only be another minute or so before they'd take her back and introduce her to other dogs so I left and waited outside for another 5 minutes. I continued to hear her cry the whole time, still locked in that room. THIS is how they prep dogs to see if they get along with other dogs?!?! By scaring the crap out of them first! It's the equivalent of bringing your child to daycare for the first time and locking them in the closet for the first 10 minutes. Someone from the organization came outside as they saw me standing there on their cameras listening to my dog cry and asked if everything was OK. I promptly said no, that I still heard my dog crying from being locked in a room by herself in an environment she wasn't used to. They didn't seem to care at all that they were scaring her to death. I got a snarky "well, ,maybe this place isn't for you." You're right, its not. We won't be going back there ever again!! read more

I have used Camp Wagging Tails (CWT) many many times over the past 2 years to board my dog. The people are incredibly nice and the facilities are way above average, probably the best in the Charlotte area. However, recently I have steered away from CWT due to their limited pickup times, expensive daycare, and increasing overnight prices. To be specific, overnight pickup ends at 10am or 11am. Very rarely are you back in town this early, regardless of whether you are flying or driving into town. Therefore, you usually have to pick up later in the afternoon, and in doing so, you are charged the daycare price of $26. However, if you dropped your dog off at 5pm, the $40 overnight price isn't adjusted even though he/she wasn't there during the day, you are charged in full. As an example, let's say you are going to spend the weekend at the beach. You get off work on Friday and drop your dog off at 4pm ($40). You enjoy Saturday ($40), and you get back into town between 12-2pm, and pick up your dog as soon as possible ($26). You just dropped $106 (before tax) and your dog wasn't even boarded for 48 hours. You could put your dog up in a Holiday Inn Express at this rate. Local competitors charge less for overnight boarding, have just as much playtime, the facilities are almost as good, but they don't charge extra for pickup into the late afternoon. For example, at Barkin' Buddies in Denver, NC (10 miles to the west), this same weekend would only cost $64. At Camp Bow Wow in Concord, NC, this weekend would only cost $76. My dog loves Camp Wagging Tails, but he also loves Barkin' Buddies and Camp Bow Wow (Concord, NC) just the same and both places offer the same playtime, accommodations, but are cheaper and have more flexible pickup options. Would I recommend CWT? Yes, but only as a 3rd option unless they adjust their pricing. read more

Used this facility for years and EVERYTHING was GREAT until a new staff member arrived. Great relationship with staff up to this point. I can honestly say "they went above and beyond." Again, until NEW staff member arrived, then EVERYTHING Changed. New member did not like me, nor my husband, from the start. Owner didn't care about us as clients, only her complaints. I'm DISABLED. I received complaints for being a few minutes late. However, I noticed another lady could take her time; EVERY Day, stand outside and talk, right in front of them, etc., and nothing was EVER said. Bring your pets here!!!!!! I am a nervous first time puppy owner and I had to leave my baby for a week. Our vet recommended camp wagging tails so we checked them out. First of all, they are incredibly thorough. They have to evaluate each dog in-person before they let them stay. It's nice to know that they won't let aggressive dogs in. Second, they were soooooo nice when we arrived. The staff is very friendly and answered my many questions with a smile. They also gave me an impromptu tour of the kennel area! It was spotless. Third, they let me call and check on my pup during the week. Whenever I called they put me on hold and checked with someone to get details about how she was doing and gave me specific information about her. I cannot be more impressed with them! read more

I was born and raised right here in NC, not California... Anyway, this doggy day care/camp is an answer to prayer! I have read the reviews on this site and am really disheartened to read the negative reviews, because our dog LOVES it there! The staff has always been very professional and caring with us, and they have always shown genuine love and care for our two-year-old mix, Tucker. He has been going since he was a year old...each week for a day or two for play and socialization. We have also left him there numerous times for overnight camp while we were out of town. His reaction in the car any time we turn on Bailey Road is that of excitement, and he is really disappointed if it isn't a camp day and we drive by the facility. I realize you can't please everyone ALL of the time, but anyone who has had a bad experience with this place should certainly give them another chance.
