My dog LOVES this place! Shes so excited in the mornings when I drop her off for daycare that she literally runs in place in the lobby. We have used boarding, daycare, and grooming services here and have never been disappointed! The staff here seem to genuinely care about the dogs and my dog is always excited to see them. When my puppy and I moved from Florida to Charlotte, he was only 7 months old. Naturally I was concerned about finding a great day care, boarding place, groomer, and vet for my little guy. I did my research and came across K9 Playland which seemed to be a great fit for our daycare and boarding needs. It was clean, offered early morning and late night daycare hours, and I liked the setup of the indoor outdoor play area as well as the individual suites for boarding. My gut feeling was validated when a few friends also mentioned K9 Playland. Fast forward to now, my puppy has been attending K9 Playland for daycare when I have long workdays and boarding when I am out of town. He has been going for 5 months. He never perks up in the car the way he does when we pull into the parking lot. Then he pulls me to the door. He can't get inside fast enough. He is always greeted by the owner, manager, or one of the staff who know him by name and are so excited to see him. Our welcome always feels as if we are the only ones there (even though we are one of many with so many other dogs playing all day). They are very organized when taking and returning my pups things for boarding, and have an easy to use online booking system. My pup always comes home exhausted, safe, healthy and in even better condition than when I dropped him off. He loves being there. Even more important to share is how K9 Playland handled an extreme health scare/emergency situation when my pup was neglected and hurt when in a week long training program with a trainer in Charlotte and was then dropped to K9 Playland for boarding for 9 days. I had no idea he was as sick as he was when I dropped him off. I asked the K9 Playland team to keep an eye on him since he was a bit lethargic and not eating too well. What unfolded for the following 9 days was extremely scary, traumatic, and heartbreaking not only for me who was so far away but for my pup and the K9 Playland team. I cannot express enough how much they stepped up and took care of my puppy. I felt like he had their undivided attention and was the only pup there. I received frequent calls and texts from the owner and the manager, everything was documented, and when I contemplated cutting my trip short to fly back, they assured me they knew what they were doing and that he was in good hands. Wasn't that the truth! They monitored his eating, energy, stomach swelling, bathroom habits, and did what they needed to do to get him feeling better. They had to clean up his mess several nights in a row and never complained. The entire team truly stepped up including the owner! I quickly realized my puppy was being cared for at K9 Playland better than I could have handled things myself. They continued to reach out and check on him for several days after he had already come back home. They all went above and beyond. I highly highly recommend K9 Playland for boarding, baths, daycare...whatever your pup may need. They will certainly show up for your pet! read more

The fact that I haven't reviewed K9 yet is an absolute abomination on my part and for that I am ashamed. The truth is that they have been there for me, like a right hand, for YEARS. They take care of me and my girls so well that I just always assume they are going to be there for me. I have taken advantage of them and for this, I would like to repent. K9 playland is probably the most valued and treasured business I use in Charlotte. I have stuck with them through FOUR (I repeat four) moves. There have been times they have been down the street from me and there have been far more times where they have been across the city from me, but never have I even considered switching. My dogs can tell on the days we're heading to daycare or overnights and jump into the car and whine the entire way. They run into the building with open ar...paws and are greeted by familiar loving faces who always welcome their brutish kisses. I don't even know what to say. My dogs are my first kids and there is no one in Charlotte I would trust with them more. We use K9 for daycare, overnights, and grooming services. They've been consistently spectacular for the better part of the 5 years we've been using them. If you're looking for an extraordinary place to take your furbabies - this is it. read more

I love taking Zoey here when she needs to be boarded overnight or when I know I'll be gone all day & she needs a place to stay active. The staff are always nice, efficient & super patient. I have a golden doodle & if you know anything about them, they are HIGH energy. When I bring Zoey in, She's super excited and jumps everywhere! She has even jumped and knocked the treat jar onto the floor, but the staff here are unphased and just smile and pet Zoey as if she isn't on 1000. I love their Instagram page and how active & consistent they are in posting videos and pics literally everyday of the dogs that stay there. When I'm on vacation & Zoey is there, I definitely stalk the page...waiting for a pic or even pics of Zoey to pop up. They even put the dog's name on there, which means a lot to me. (Only dog parents will understand). read more

This is a cute little place, the parking lot is not very big, as is the parking lot at carolina doggy playland. Very hard to find and turn into, address should be on rampert st instead of south tryon. The lobby is very classy and nice, even has a water machine, and i dont mean a water fountain either, i mean literally a machine where you can get water from. However, the lobby has a very strong urine smell. Also, they should have an additional door for safety. In case if a dog gets loose. No web cam, can't see the facility from the lobby. However, they take pictures daily and post to facebook. The people who work there are sweet. If you are looking at pet friendly apartments, they have fliers there in the lobby. read more

Never taking Bruce here again. Only took him once, they never answered my phone calls or returned my phone calls prior to dropping him off. Our dog was there for four days and three nights, he was limping when we brought him home because his paws had been blistered so badly from the hot asphalt. They obviously weren't monitored properly. He is now missing chunks of skin and cries when you touch his paws. Beware!!! read more

I have been on the fence about this place since the beginning. However it was convenient to our home and seemed a fair price for the area. Recently, I've had a string of bad experiences which I can no longer tolerate. Over the course of the past few weeks we've taken our dog, Khloe, periodically. She's come home with scabbed pads on multiple occasions (as another user mentioned, due to the hot asphalt play area) and even a deep cut on top of her foot. More recently, my girlfriend informed me that an employee hit Khloe on her muzzle to correct her jumping. I do not condone pain training and I this employee was out of line in her response. I will not be returning or subjecting my dog to this environment in the future. read more

WOW! I am so impressed with this place. Amazing service. :) We brought our Australian shepherd in after discovering she had fleas. When we arrived the team at K9 Playground told us they'd give her a flea bath to kill any adult fleas, and suggested that we give her a dish soap bath once we got her home to kill any eggs. We went to the pet store while we waited to grab some foggers to flea bomb and while we were out we received a call from K9 Playground letting us know they ended up giving her the dish soap bath so we didn't have to, AND asked if we'd like them to keep her for a few hours while we did the flea bombing, so we could bring her home all clean to a flea-free home. :) Seriously, what a kind suggestion!!! We did just that and they didn't even charge us for keeping her for a few extra hours. After a stressful day of dealing with the flea situation it was such a blessing. Plus, our aussie girl is SO soft and clean and smells amazing. :) Five stars for K9 Playground being extra helpful, and going the extra mile. They really care! read more

I've relied on K9 Playground for both daycare and weekend boarding for two of my dogs, Choco and Rosco, over the course of 2 years. Rosco's a lab mix and requires plenty of exercise while Choco's 11 yrs old and under 15lbs. The staff is very friendly and are capable of caring for a wide spectrum of dogs. I still remember the first day - was quite surprised that they knew my dogs' names and leashes after only the first visit! The prices are fair and the staff is always smiling. Such AMAZING service! I've had my puppy groomed here several times and have always been so satisfied. Recently, my year old puppy has lost her site and it still learning to adjust to her new life. That being said, her hair was getting SO long I couldn't put it off any longer. K9 Playland was able to get her in with very short notice (thank goodness because she sees the optometrist tomorrow) and they were so understanding about my being so nervous. With that in mind, they groomed her in about an hour and did SUCH a great job making her feel comfortable despite her not being able to see them. We dropped her off at 10:30 and I was able to pick her up and take her home on my lunch break at 12. I will never take her anywhere else! read more

I left my lab puppy of 15 weeks old in the care of K9 Playland the weekend of Oct 5th. She was there for a 4 day stay. When we returned to pick her up I noticed that she had a pretty severe wound on her left shoulder. This cut was about an inch long and deep enough that she required stitches. When I addressed the situation with the folks at K9 they knew nothing of it and needless to say the wound was never tended. When we picked her up the wound had gotten to a state where it was beginning to smell which means it was at an infection stage. My conclusion of K9 is it is good for day visits but not long term. It is obvious the dog handlers do not look at the dogs they heard them. Don't expect much and you will get what you expect. Todd McC read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!!!! I am in the middle of something similar, though not as tragic as Laurel's review. I'm so sorry Laurel! I had been taking my new puppy Maximus there for a couple weeks for daycare to socialize him. It didn't seem like a horrible place, and Maximus seemed to like some of the dogs. Then, I decided to try their grooming services for Maximus' first puppy cut. BIG MISTAKE! When my fiance went to pick Maximus up a little after 5pm. The employee at the desk said something had happened to Max during grooming. He had been cut by the clippers under his right front leg. They put him in a kennel by himself for 3 hours without any medical attention! They told my fiance we should probably bring him to the vet and then blamed us because his hair was "knotty". We took him to Dilworth Animal Hospital (great place!) right away where they cleaned the wound and luckily only had to use skin glue to repair his wound. His muscle was exposed and K9 Playland didn't think they needed to do anything about it!!! Maximus had to be sedated, take pain killers for 5 days, and be in a cone while taking antibiotics for 10! After that we called the owner demanding an explanation. She was somewhat apologetic but kept saying "these things happen". She did offer to pay the vet bill. But, it has been 3 weeks at least and there has been nothing! We have called multiple times and even stopped by and we can't get a response for when the bill will be paid! We finally got an email from the owner saying "she had been busy" and will seek medical advice on whether or not the vet visit was really necessary! My advice, don't take your dog here. I will continue to tell people what a horrible place this is, in hopes that this doesn't happen to anyone else! On a brighter note. We started taking Maximus to Club Fetch and they are amazing! I highly recommend them! read more

Bought the grooming package from LS a while ago. It was the worst grooming service ever! I requested to cut my dog as a teddy bear look. But after she came out, not only was a total poodle look but also she looked so ugly. On top the of that, I dropped off my dog at 7am. But I wasn't able to pick her up after 3pm! Really?It took a groomer over 7 hours to cut a dog's hair? The grooming service certainly needs to improve . Will never go back again. read more

Twice I found scratch marks on my dog here. I think there's lack of supervision. From the window inside, it's pretty small and if they have a lot of dogs, they seem not to have any area to play. I wouldn't recommend grooming from what I've read or seen at the daycare. It's very low budget. I'll keep this place as a back up, not my first choice. read more

Even though I've moved from Dilworth to Cotswold, I still bring my dog, Maeby, to K-9 a few times per month because she loves it so much. The staff know her by name and she always comes home completely exhausted. My only complaint is I wish they had grass for dogs to use the restroom on, but I am glad it is an indoor/outdoor facility! read more

This place is really pretty low budget. The day care aspect isn't terrible because it is really just a bunch of dogs running around an empty room and that isnt to hard to mess up. The staff is also friendly and but the real disaster of the place is grooming. I took my dog in to get groomed and the groomer cut my dog all the way down to his muscle!!!! When I picked him up I found out that he was cut 2-3 hours earlier and was just left alone while his arm was bleeding and muscle was exposed. I immediately took him to the vet who was absolutley appauled that he was left alone and untreated after such a serious injury. After the vet cleaned up all the dried blood around the wound, she cleaned all of the dirt out of the wound! She then patched his arm up with a few sutures and started him on pain meds and antibiotics for 10 days. We will not be returning and warn all others to seriously consider using a differernt groomer. read more

Just ran across his review from K9 Playland on South Boulevard in Charlotte North Carolina. still sickens me the things that those poor animals went through . Oh and by the way my daughter were there. She also endured bullying which I was told it was because they wanted their friend for the job and also Also there were remarks saying that my daughter was gay .Now of course that is not an issue woth my family We accept all and love all. Her sister simply sent her flowers congratulating her on her new job and my daughter's assistant had known my daughter for a long time and gave her a hug and handed her the flowers. This woman had her own family and it was the fact that they had a problem with it . The little click the girls made it clear that that was a problem if she was in Deed gay . So probably about a week or by and the Abuse continued on dogs the harassment was getting worse on my daughter She didn't want any backlash on her new job ., But she was also assigned. The dogs that were problematic when they were around each other and they would put them together saying that they would really give her a hard time but she was hanging in there she was trying to stay to protect animals. So finally one day my daughter took the dogs outside to get some exercise and some fresh air. It was a pretty warm day summertime temperatures in the carolinas .she was going be out a Little bit because it was so hot no way to get water water. She goes to try to open the door to take the dogs over to get water . Do you realize they had locked her out in the heat no water no way to get water and no way to get out. Then they ignored her beating on the door. My daughter is not a confrontational person by any means but she was trying to be respectful of her job and of the animals also. It was quite a long time before she ended but ended up back in. My daughter did say that there was a groomer there who was very good but she talk to no one there and because of the situation. I don't know if complaints after that because in the closedown and God knows I heard they was not able to relocate. That's why I added them on the review. Very proud to be a part of that. Just horrible people Bullies. I just feel like that if we do not keep up with what happens with these people sometimes they just open right back up. So K'9 play land Call South Boulevard is now forever I hope. I gave them one star for the groomer who now I think is still in room restores what I heard and is very good. I brought my dog Carly to daycare here for 2 years. It was a super convenient location (less than a mile from my house). I would still be bringing my dog here if we didn't move further away! This was the best daycare my dog (& myself) could have asked for. All the staff were very friendly & they all LOVED Carly. The staff & the other dogs really got her to come out of her shell. She was so shy when I first adopted her & was very timid around strangers/new dogs. K9 Playland helped her socialize & grow to the point she was practically breaking down the door to get there in the morning. I also appreciate the thoughtfulness of the staff. We received some AMAZING & heartfelt gifts every Christmas while she attended daycare. I want to thank everyone at K9 Playland so much for loving Carly & making her comfortable. K9 Playland is great! My dog has enjoyed puppy daycare and grooming here on several occasions. Also, no one (and I mean no one... Dozens have tried at various vets and grooming houses) has been able to cut my dogs nails. One of the groomers here took the time to help my dog conquer his fear of nail clipping. Needless to say this is our new groomer of choice. I'm off to take my dog to daycare here now! Check this place out. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is AWESOME! Great location just outside of downtown Charlotte. Nice staff, clean and nicely decorated (the dogs don't care about the decor, the style is more for the humans) We had to evacuate for Hurricane Matthew to Charlotte and they were very understanding and accommodating to our 2 Norwich Terriers. Raven is super sweet. I can't remember the managers name but she gets a shout out too. Reasonably priced and highly recommended. read more

First time trying this place out for my "Sushi", we just moved to the area and it was super close to where we moved. Anyways brought her in for grooming, when I called up to set an appointment had no problem what so ever the staff was very friendly. The appointment took about two hours, this was for a wash & nail clip. The results was great! My dogs coat looked amazing and polished, better than me doing it at home! K-9 Playland has made my first puppy experience even more enjoyable and added such ease. Though I'm a long time dog lover and have grown up with dogs I'm a first time owner. I was extremely nervous to drop my 3.5 mo. puppy off there the first time (mostly due to her young age) but unfortunately she just had too much energy and our half hour walks at lunch time just wasn't cutting it for her midday activities. Not only does she get to play all day long releaving her of any pent up energy, I also chose to take advantage of their great training program. The staff is excellent, they all knew her name and that I was her owner within the first week of attendance. They also allow you to be very hands on. Though someone else is watching & training my puppy during the day they teach you how to intergrate their training into your household, so it's not as if someone else is raising your dog. 5 stars all the way, I highly reccomend them!! read more

I have been going to K9 multiple days a week since my German was just a little pup (over a year now). I primarily use the day care service, but have used the boarding as few times as well. What impresses me about K9 is how friendly the staff is and how much they care for my dog. They all know her by name and she is always excited to see them in the morning when I drop her off. When she gets home after day care, she is always absolutely exhausted. It makes for a restful evening. Also, I have tried other boarding establishments, even dogvacay, and my dog seems to prefer K9. The hours of play and human interaction seem to ease her anxiety about being away from her humans! My experience has never been anything but positive with K9 read more

Over the course of the year that I took my dog here I have become more and more disenchanted. The first time I left him overnight, no one could tell him how he was doing and when I picked him up he was scared to death and was covered in bruises and cuts. I should back up and say when I dropped him off, someone was in the back screaming and cussing at the dogs. I had had a good experience, so I thought maybe it is a rough day. Well, I should have trusted my instincts and taken my dog to another facility. When I picked him up the other day, he was covered in hives from who knows what and I had to take him to the vet to be treated. I have asked for services to be completed and when I picked up my pup, they were forgotten. I can honestly say I am never going to bring my dog back again. Seeing him being DRAGGED out to me by the back of his neck and not on his leash was the rudest most upsetting thing out of it all. Not to mention the lack of professional conversations that I have had with several workers there. It's amazing that people would want to continue bringing their dogs here. read more

The grooming was horrible they cut my dog and didn't notify me until I picked her up I was very upset and they seemed like it wasn't a big deal and proceed to tell me "these things happen" well that's fine but they definitely won't happen to me again for I will not be returning. read more

My dog happily went to K9 playland for a solid 2 years, since he was about 6 months old. He loved it. I loved it. The staff was really great and my dog was always excited to see his buddies there. HOWEVER, in the past 3 months or so, he has come home with torn pads (3 separate times) because they have an asphalt dog run. This happened even after I made it very clear he is not to be running on the hot asphalt. No dog should be out there when we are in the middle of a heatwave. Or at all, just not good for their feet. Anyway, I recently brought up the issue again with the owner, and she has ignored my call and my email. I wasn't mean or rude, but I am upset, and I cannot continue to bring my dog there. They had 3 chances to resolve this issue, and it still happened and nothing was done about it. Be aware that your dog may come home with injuries. read more
