I took them there several times to bath and shape the face. In December he said they were getting too long and it was hard to keep them in shape. I said not until after Christmas & pictures. I took them in January. I said with my fingers not to cut them shorter than two fingers. I got called in less than an hour my male dog was at vet with possible seizure. in minutes I got a call from vet they had my dog doing CPR he was brought in in cardiac arrest. I said don't stop until I get there. When I got there he had been shaved to the bone. My best friend gone. Then when my family brought little girl home I had to watch her, my beautiful fluffy white Bichon shaved to the bone for weeks grow out. Never a word never a I'm sorry 'nothing'. The last time we had both of our dogs groomed by Jackie, neither one looked like they had even been trimmed, which is what we asked. It was odd. Maybe our dogs were behind her skill set? He just didn't trust anyone after the last business we attended for grooming. But we got a referral of Aussie mobile, and with Kimberly his whole demeanor has changed. She has taken time when he feels skittish. When he's scared she will give him time to soak it in, gather himself and then be okay and get used to brushing, and someone else handling him . This allowing him to gain a boatload of trust and he absolutely adores her. So we will always be grateful to the company and to Kimberly.

When we dug further into it we found out they were NOT caring for our dogs. They have only 2 handlers for upwards of 100 dogs. One of our dogs came home with a huge gash on his face and they didn't catch it, or report it to us. They come home anxious every boarding visit. When we dug further we found out that one of our dogs was so anxious she was chewing on a cot (she doesn't chew things at home, or any other boarding place we've ever used.) Instead of telling us, they just made a note in their system that she doesn't get a cot... We asked them to kennel together and so both of our dogs were sleeping on cold hard tile floor for their entire stays, sometimes as long as a week or two when we've taken longer trips. Instead of taking any responsibility for any of this they blamed our dogs. Their manager confirmed to me they don't require handlers have ANY certifications or qualifications. I asked for a GM or assistant GM to get in touch with me about whether they even do background checks and they are ignoring us. Lucky Dog used to be great when they were family owned. Roughly around 2022 they were bought out by a corporation called Village Pet and it's clear they are trying to suck as much profit out of the business while they can. They've raised their rates and cut down on the staff. In NC handlers can only have 10 dogs out per handler so your pets are NOT getting as much attention or outside time as they should be. This place is the worst. We have 4 friends that also used Lucky Dog and after hearing what was happening they're also finding another boarding place. We'll be telling anyone who will listen to ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOGS HERE.
