WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, I parked in customer parking and was immediately harassed by another customer who couldn't find parking. She rudely stopped me to tell me that I need to move my car for her because she is a customer here. She also noted that due to my workout attire, I obviously wasn't going to the store (which were my sole intentions). So, I waited in my car for another 10 minutes while I finished up some work on my phone. THEN I was approached by an employee (probably the manager) from the store asking me to move my car. He said he had customers who needed to park there, and asked me why I was parked there. I said i was waiting for a friend of mine to meet me at the store, and that, yes, my intentions are to go inside the store. He left following my response. I won't dare take my business here again. Visited Pacifica Archery to find a new bow for my son. He's been taking lessons for over a year now and wanted to take the next step to owning his own equipment. It was our first time trying out archery, and we had a blast! We made an appointment a week in advance for Saturday at 1PM and were part of a group of six (three couples). We each had our own target and were led by Derek, who was super friendly and patient. He explained how to use our gear properly and ensured we all practiced good form. Came here with the boyfriend thanks to a Groupon deal, in which we were given a half-hour group lesson and then another half-hour for a shooting session with the aforementioned group. The instructor was very clear and concise, and even though the we were late (crappy SF traffic), they were still able to accommodate us, which was very nice of them. The lesson was pretty quick, and didn't actually take up half and hour, so we got several sessions to shoot. Each of us was given a bow, a quiver with 6 arrows, and am arm guard to protect our non-dominant arm from the bowstring snapping us when we released it. For every shooting round, we could only shoot with the 6 arrows given to us, and only when everyone calls, "Clear!" can we go retrieve our arrows and commence with the next shooting round. It was very fun here, and we thoroughly enjoyed our archery session. This is an indoor shooting range, in a large concrete building next to a gym, and there's parking in the lot that are labeled specifically for Pacifica Archery customers. read more

I bought the groupon deal months ago and recently was able to go. Although, my groupon had expired, the guy at the register still granted the price! I had to reschedule twice because of forseen events. So, it was super nice of him to do that. Lesson and activity combined together was only an hour. The lesson was less than 10 minutes. It wasn't really a "lesson" at all. The lesson was explaining the safety procedures and what is the correct was to use the bow and arrow. Definitely wear jeans! I read that tip from one of the reviews and I'm glad I followed it. If I didn't I wouldn't have a hook to hook all of my bow holder. Although, I had an awesome time! Our first time here was because of a groupon purchase for a lesson + session since we were unfamiliar with archery. The staff was very friendly and patient with showing us how to hold the equipment, our stance, and the techniques involved in shooting. The lesson last about 1/2 hour and we ended up getting to shoot for the remainder half of the hour. We loved it so much that we wanted to come here again but only for the shooting since were already somewhat familiar. Thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around! The staff is always very welcoming and would still give us feedback on our shooting even though we were not part of the lesson. They have a great system for ensuring safety among all the shooters and the lanes give adequate space between one another so we do not affect each other's shooting. Parking is extremely convenient and very close to the freeway! Expenses are calculated per hour but you do decide to come, be sure to call first and reserve a lane because spots do fill up fast since the area is small. Highly recommend purchasing a groupon for the lessons if they are still available but if not, definitely still check it out and get a lesson for a introduction to Archery! A family owned business in Daly City right next to the planet fitness. I bought a groupon online for 3, 1 hour lane rentals and gear rentals. I came with my girlfriend and they let us use 2 of the 1 hour rentals at the same time and were very accommodating for the groupon. You also need to make an appointment to reserve a lane beforehand and fill out a waiver online. Do this before you show up so you don't have to wait and you can jump into shooting. We got bows, arrows, quiver, and the wrist and finger guards. The lanes aren't really separated and it's open format. You get your arrows when everyone on the range is done shooting. So if you are quicker than everyone else or there are a bunch of beginners you may wait a bit longer in between rounds of shooting to get your arrows and start again. My girl and I had different lanes but we shared the same target. We started out with the target pretty close because my girlfriend has never held a bow and arrow. Eventually when we were more confident we moved the target further away. The staff was pretty nice and seemed really chill and laid back which was nice but don't' think you can screw around, they don't take kindly to bending the safety rules. Overall it was fun date idea which is a little out of the ordinary. If you don't know what you are doing or don't go with someone who has done this before, get lessons. Joe and Beth are great friendly informative and very helpful. The new place is extremely large compared to the one that used to be in Pacifica they have their own shooting range inside. Rentals by the hour. Helpful hints are always available with no charge. Great staff they're always there to help. For those who need private lessons, those are available. Archery is so much fun! We bought a livingsocial deal that included around 15 mins of training and then 45 mins for shooting. When we arrived, the staff at the front were rather disorganized and not friendly. They also didn't seem to get along with each other. We were told to sign a waiver, but weren't given any other instructions on what to do etc. So we just browsed the store until finally an employee gathered everyone who was there for the 2:30pm appointment. He was in the process of showing us how to put on our gear, but another employee yelled at him because it was only 2:24pm and he was supposed to start at 2:25pm and not a minute sooner apparently. So he just stopped showing us. Awkward. The instructor, Dan, was awesome though. He would go around helping each of us perfect our form. There was 8 of us total and it's 2 people to a target. At first it seemed crammed because you're standing like barely a feet away from the person next to you, but the spacing worked out perfectly fine and no one hit the person next to them. I'd recommend wearing jeans because you have to hook the arrow holder to your pants and the hook hurts. You also can't pick the color arrow you want because it's by height, which was unfortunate because I really wanted the pink arrows. Fun experience overall! Indoors only. Though Dan said there's lots of outdoor ones around the area, which I do hope to try next time! read more

My first experience here and right off the bat, I have to give them very great commendations. It was some of the best customer service I've experienced. I am a relatively new archer--I've gone shooting a few times with friends with rental bows or using my friends' equipment and I decided on buying my own bow. I've done some research and got some basic info going in. When I first walked in, I was greeted almost right away and had one-on-one help from the getgo. Talking with Chris was amazing as he provided a lot of info and insight into different equipment, how they differed, teaching terminology, some basic technique, and going over prices and gear. I walked out not buying anything just yet, since I got so much more info I wanted to go home and do a little more research. I ended up going back by the end of the day and decided on buying my bow. I got the same level of attentiveness and positive attitude from the staff, answering all my questions, showing me different products, teaching more on bow ownership and maintenance. In summation, I've looked at some other shops and prices may have been a little cheaper (within $30 or so) but I decided to go back to Pacifica Archery since they were so helpful and great service, and teaching that I haven't really experienced in other shops. I'm told that Archery is craaaazy popular right now, in part due to heroic archer girls. Hunger Games, anyone? Or Brave? I don't really know. What I do know is that if you want a taste of what it's like to pick up a bow, knock an arrow, and let it go zinging into a distant target, Pacifica Archery is a very pleasent way to handle it. I had a Groupon (I think? Maybe a Living Social? They all blur together) and that Groupon got me a lesson for myself and the boy, rental gear, and plenty of time to shoot until I was sore. This does not take long. The facility is great, the managers were nice, and I had a blast. Let's be honest, I don't know enough about the whole sport to really judge. Came in with Mr. Piano using the "lesson for two" Groupon, and we had a good time :) The instruction is on the informal side--they mention some things that are dangerous, and give you a couple of pointers on stance and such, but mostly let you do your own thing, which is nice. I do wish we'd gotten more lane time with the instructor around (who was really friendly about giving pointers, and didn't go overboard with the nit-picking right off the bat; he eased into it). I like that they keep the class sizes small, too, to make sure that everyone gets some attention and adjustment from the instructor. As per the other couple of times I've tried taking archery lessons, I managed to catch the inside of my arm with the string (in spite of having the protector on) because my arm is a little double-jointed, but other than that, pretty smooth sailing :) read more

I am getting back into archery after a 30 year break. I did my homework online first and had a good idea of what I wanted. I confirmed with Beth my choice in bows and selected the Mathews Mission UX2. Selecting the bow is only the beginning, though, as the bow needs adjustment and tuning. This ended up being a very large part of the time spent there, and I'm glad the Joseph and Beth were there to help. Beth spent quite a bit of time letting me used to the bow, then fine tuning it. This is one of those kinds of purchases where saving even $50 on a bow would not be worth going mail order on. Knowing the bow is set up right and that I can shoot groups that will land in the yellow gives me the confidence to go and work on my skills knowing I have had a refresher in the solid fundamentals needed to stay on target. Amazing Hoyt shop!!!!! I'm sure they know other bows but I shoot hoyt compounds and Rudy is one of the knowledgeable guys I've been around. My first experience with them is when I helped my buddy buy a hoyt powermax off another friend. So we met there and Rudy helped my buddy get everything fit him perfectly on the bow and although he didn't buy the bow directly from them, you could tell they put a lot of effort into making sure the bow fits properly. Unfortunately I bought my bow at a shop in Dixon and had such a shitty experience, that it was a major lesson in trusting the shop you work with. That being said, when it came time for me to upgrade my wife's bow I knew I wanted to take her to see Rudy at Pacifica Archery. Mind you, we live in Southern California and although we come up pretty often it didn't faze me that we would drive up to get her set up. After emailing back and forth with them I was able to get the bow ordered and of course Rudy took an insane amount of time with her going over as much as possible. I was looking for a hunting bow with an easy draw. Eric recommended few bows over the phone. I spent few weeks doing additional research thru the internet and selected the Matthew V3x. I made an appointment with Eric to do the sizing at the store. I had an amazing experience. Eric was patient, and he explained to me all the complexity of the measurement. Eric exemplified the meaning of being customer obsessed. He created an amazing experience. I came back few weeks later (the bow was actually ready after few days but my schedule was not). Wow I never imagined I'd pick up a new hobby!! Came here with a groupon, as recommended by my cousin who took this before...I was in awe from the moment I walked in...transported to the world of Brave or like I was Hawkeye searching for a new bow! The employees were all very knowledgeable and gave the bf and I a wonderful description of the parts of a bow, how to care for it, etc. The class itself was great as well. I thought it would be too crowded since we were a "double size" class. However, as we "straddled the blue line," everything seemed to be okay. I'll admit I felt a wee bit claustrophobic and had trouble aiming since I was scared I'd elbow someone once or twice, but it wasn't that bad. The class was composed of mainly couples going on a date, but it's definitely a "friends" type of event as well. Bf and I got lucky in that we had an instructor and an "aid," since we were a large class. The aid was conveniently standing right near our location as we struggled with the first few shots and I felt like I had a personal instructor! By the end of the hour (which went by much too quickly), bf and I had improved to the point where we were shooting all the way to the back! We will definitely be back when we can...love the instructors, love the place, love the bows...love everything!! read more

My sister bought her bow here and this place came highly recommended when I said that I want to get into archery. Friday afternoon and the place was pretty busy with a handful of staff, lots of folks out on the range (practicing and maybe a few getting a private lesson) and a few of us shopping for a new hobby. The staff was all young guys - but very friendly, serious, and knowledgeable about their sport. After the initial hand slap telling me that I should have made an appointment if I wanted to try out their gear and only if I'm really serious about buying would he set up some bows for me - the rest of the encounter was fairly pleasant. Was eventually handed off to Leo to finish the transaction - he was great. I will definitely recommend making an appointment if you get some time with him. No pressure sales tactics - very patient and knowledgeable in walking me through the process and my decision points. I ended up buying a compound bow which I used the next day out on the range in the Oakland Hills. Only gripe is that they didn't screw in my site tightly enough b/c it ended up coming lose during the trail hike and my arrows ended up going everywhere. Purchase of a compound bow does come with a free hour lesson so after practicing a bit more with my bow, I will take them up on that. read more

The staff was real nice and he knew what he was talking about. I think his name is Chris. His words of criticism weren't harsh but did well as a teacher. I have a few critiques. The place was kind of awkward because it was super quiet. No music playing, just the murmur of voices. I guess you need the full concentration so it has to be completely quiet. Overall I had fun. They give plenty of time to practice and be on your own as well. Also, they don't put beginners with beginners, they mix the experienced with the inexperienced so I felt kind of rushed. Infuriating "customer service" experience at this place. I have a Bear compound bow which became derailed. I brought it in and spoke to a young man at the front counter and asked how much it would cost to repair it - as in- put the string back onto the cam. The kid looked at it for approximately 1/8th of a second and goes, "oh I dunno maybe like $250" I clarified that the problem was that the string was off the cam, and verified that he could, in fact, see this. He then started trying to explain how complicated and dangerous it was, and that I'd almost definitely need new strings cause of the "damage". I explained to him that his quoted repair price was about 50% of the cost of the bow when new - And that the bow and strings were less than a year old. He stuck to his original insane quote. I then left, drove up to another archery shop in Marin, presented the same bow to the shopkeeper up there, and waited for 30 second while he put the string back on the cam, checked it for any possible damage, and tested it several times. I paid him the $25 that he asked for and was on my way. If your using these guys for a repair make sure to shop around. read more

He was very through in his explanation and we were able to shoot several more rounds after the lesson.
