Tyler is the best! If you're heading to Fat Shafts Archery, do yourself a favor and book a session with Tyler. He's an exceptional instructor--patient, encouraging, and highly skilled. He caught a few bad habits in my form right away and had me hitting tighter groups by the end of the lesson. Awesome guy and a top-tier facility! read more

What a lovely hidden gem in the outskirts of Benicia! This place duals as an indoor shooting range and archery supply shop. Once you sign in, then you can start shooting. They charge by the hour, and as of mid 2024 it costs $20/hr. Note: you can rent out a bow and arrows or bring your own. The people here are super chill and friendly. It was my first time here, so the volunteers gave pointers on my form which was super helpful. The tips and tricks helped me get my first bullseye just on the second round! I definitely want to come back here to improve my archery skills and channel my inner Legolas haha! read more

Great shop, the guys are helpful and very good at meeting you at the level where you are in archery. They are good at explaining equipment options, and don't seem inclined to upsell. I love shooting there! read more

Extremely kind workers who answer all questions in great depth and detail. They're all very knowledgeable, and are very supportive of beginners (which I am). I took the beginner class (which I loved) and I ended up buying a bow the next time I went back because of how much I enjoyed it. I would strongly recommend coming here whether you're a beginner or more as the environment is very welcoming, fun and supportive. read more

We started coming here for the adult classes and been having such a great time!! We love the environment and to be honest, archery is just such a fun sport. The staff are very friendly and down to earth. Anthony is the regular adult teacher, but I had Tyler the first time I came. They're very different types of teachers, but both so knowledgeable and easy to talk to! You'll be hitting bullseyes in no time (like me in the pic) ;) and you can't beat the price! $25/person which includes the bow and 4 arrows. My husband and I like it so much we are planning to start coming for regular sessions (not lessons). Those are $20/hour but $10/hour if you get a membership card. I'm not sure exactly how those work but we will be looking into it! This is such a cute and great date night idea. It's not glamorous or fancy, but it is just what you need! Try it out. read more

Fun place to go for the whole family and for $20 per person hour, worth it. They have an ongoing league every Tuesday.

I've been going here for about four years but only once or twice each year. Until recently, I've been going twice a week. I really enjoy it and everyone is really friendly, helpful and nice. I'm working on form and trying to remember all the things to do. I am getting better and more consistent which is exciting. People of all ages and skill level. I have never felt intimidated by other shooters. read more

We rolled up on a whim looking for a fun activity to do with our 8-year-old. The worker got us set up right away, and kindly walked us through how to shoot. He was particularly great at teaching our 8-year-old (and my husband and me) the basics. It was a relatively empty afternoon so we got to do a lot of rounds. We initially intended to stay 30 mins but my son was enjoying it too much so we stayed the full hour. Checkout was easy peasy. Definitely want to come back again. Everyone from the staff to the patrons were super chill and friendly. read more

My friend and I really enjoyed out time there. They were very welcoming and I would recommended this place for beginners (and probably for more experienced individuals too). There were a wide range of people there from first-timers to many with their own equipment. Everyone there was very friendly, and I felt comfortable being really bad with my aim. The price was very reasonable. I would 100% go again given the chance. read more

Great Staff! Friendly patrons. Love the community they've built there. Very inclusive of all backgrounds. Needs more cowbell.

Great staff willing to help inexperienced archers!! Will return in the future. Safety was a top priority.

I've been here a few times over the years and I'm glad they are still open. For $20 you can play for an hour, and if your new there's a guide there to help you. Whether your left like me or right handed they have the tools to help you. Our guide was Anthony he was super awesome and friendly and gave us really good tips on how to use proper form. Now your not going to get it right away unless your a genius it took me like 15-20 mins to get the hang of it. It's a ton of fun if your into this kind of thing. We definitely will be coming back again. read more

Rolled in on a Wednesday. I'm a father that shot a lot a long time ago. I'm stoked to get my kid, "8 yr old," into the game. Archery is intimidating to get into, even if you had some experience. These guys are very friendly and professional. They were very busy on a Wednesday early afternoon, but be patient. They checked in and had there attention on me as soon as they had the chance. Most awesome thing was they had a bow for my kid to rent, and they even spent a few minutes with him going over things I've forgotten or wouldn't think to mention. He enjoyed it a lot. We all did. I think we found our local bow outfitter. Thank you! read more

Nice, quiet place to shoot a bow and arrow. Very helpful staff. I highly recommend. :)

This archery place was awesome! The staff was great. Very professional and knowledge me and just super nice. My wife and I came here for date night and we loved it. Got about 1.5 hours of shooting in and it was roughly $25 each. Definitely check it out if you can it's super lowkey and a good time for sure! read more

My friend wanted to do archery, so I brought my friend here since it was in the area. There weren't many people here so we enjoyed our time. The worker here was very friendly and give us some tips on how to get the bull's-eye in the beginning we weren't shooting the bull's-eye, but towards the end of our day, we got a lot of bills-eyes! Will be coming here in the future again thanks fat shaft ! read more

Took our 9 year old grandson here. Called ahead and spoke to Jacob letting him know that we were interested in bringing our grandson, although he had no prior experience. Jacob said no problem, bring him down and we will get him set up and give him some instruction. Our Grandson had a wonderful time. Not only did Jacob give him some instruction to get him started, but a couple of regulars were generous with their attention and advice to help him improve during the hour we were there. A wonderful experience and we are looking forward to a return visit. read more

I bought a compound bow from them. They didn't have the greatest customer service. The guy that was helping me made me feel like he didn't want to help. I asked if they can help me sight in my scope and the dude told me no that's something you have to figure out. His attitude was "here's your bow, let's see how long you'll stick with this". read more

Amazing customer service! One of the best experiences in any industry. Tyler was helping us and he took the time and effort for every step. He explain the different options available, then set us up with loaner bows and observed our skill level and shooting style before recommending equipment options. He took the time to setup our equipment and explain what a proper setup means. Then trained us in using our bows correctly. I live in over 100miles away and I would not go anywhere else. Bravo! read more

If you're looking to try something new like archery, this is the place to go. For the affordability $10/hr with rental, for the staff that is friendly and willing to show you step by step, the proper technique and safety rules, and the ability to shoot on your own, this is the place to go. Hubby and I came on a Saturday after lunch and it was fairly busy. There was space for he and I to shoot. I can't recall how many rounds we shot, but we were there for at least 2 hrs and felt it was just enough time. They offer classes on Saturday mornings 8-12 and even for younger kids (min age 8). We would like to bring our son to try it. We plan to during the summer. Thanks for the awesome experience!! read more

From a phone call to buying a lot of stuff. I called Fat Shafts Archery to have my new/used Hoyt RX7 check before I fire an arrow. When I call the person on the like was kind and said come on by and I will look at it for you, Score! Come to find out the person was well knowledgeable looked at my bow and give me sound advice! Be who of me to come under this man spell (Jacob) Not only that he took care of me, but he was honest! More small businesses should but like this and this is why I will come back every chance I get! Also, dammit I keep spending money! Don't be afraid to ask question! read more

RATE Great first experience with archery (since middle school PE, haha). $15/hour STAFF Friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. They guide you through 2-3 rounds and then you're on your own. Your group shoots all the arrows you have and then you wait until the range is clear before you retrieve your results. Actually, I would have liked a more hands on approach (more guidance, more teaching) but maybe some people prefer otherwise. Approach them if you need some tips on how to shoot better! ARCHERY A great activity to do if you're looking to stay active but stay out of the sun. It's actually great upper body strength training work - you'll feel it in your shoulders, back, arms, and will even work your core. By the end of the hour, we all had a few purple bruises to show for our valor. I truly felt like Katniss Everdeen. read more

200th Review goes out to Fat Shafts! *Fist pump, Whoop! Whoop! When I found out about this place, I knew I had to check 'em out asap! I wanted to get my Katniss Everdeen on, yo! Came here with some friends on a Friday rnd 2:50pm--place wasn't busy...Yessuh. We checked in and the guy behind the counter helped us get set up with the equipment. Since most of us were newbs, one of the employees showed us how to load the arrows(you get 4 btw) into the bow(recurve) and have proper stance. After a quick lesson/demo, we were free to start shooting it up! My aim sucked in the beginning(shot at my friend's target.. oops), but towards the end of my sesh, I was shooting at the targets in my lane. My aim would've been better if I wore my glasses(I'm farsighted btw), but I didn't think to bring them, d'oh! -____- My friends and I had a fabu time here! We shot for about an hour and a half(3-4:20ish pm), paid $11! Sweet deal huh?! Some of my friends came late, so they did a half hour session for $5.50-- not bad, not bad. My group went from 4 ppl to 5 to 7 ppl. Call an hour in advance if you're rollin' 6+ deep. By the end of our sesh, the place was pretty busy... Overall, great place to have some fun, very helpful/nice staff & reasonable prices. I can't wait to go back! XD read more

Their customer service is great! They give a tutorial and run through the rules. Then they let you start shooting on your own. $10/hour isn't too bad. One downfall is that this place doesn't have air-conditioning so it gets a little warm sometimes. Wished we got to keep our target but we didn't Overall it's a fun experience, especially if it's your first time. read more

Staff- very friendly and helpful to my family and I as we are novices. Shop- open, moderate selection of gear and bows. They helped tune my bow and outfit it with some limb dampeners and a peep sight. Range- got hot because there's no a/c but I can see how in bad weather this would be the go-to spot. Other shooters- friendly and welcoming. Didn't detect any archery snobs. Definitely recommend read more

Great experience. My daughter loved it too! I'll be coming back with my other daughter this year.

Me and my date enjoyed a class here. Kind of cozy and no pressure kind of vibe. I'd say this store is geared for compound bows. and hunting. They have a couple of recurve bows for sale but not too many options for target shooting. The staff is average. read more

It was a very pleasant experience shooting arrows and getting basic information from John for $20.00/hr including equipments. Anthony was also very nice helpful and accommodating! Nice set up. Felt casual and pretty welcoming. Most of the staff were nice and knowledgeable. The time I did spend there we had to we had to spend most of it waiting around as there was a customer eating in to everyone's time by making us all have to wait for her as she continued blabbing and not paying attention so we couldn't shoot for lengthy amounts of time, but that's not the company's/ staff's fault. Didn't like how they rounded up the time that I was there, thereby charging me more for time I didn't spend. It was supposed to be a celebratory day, but felt a little shafted. Could've just been a bad day, though, and I would give it another try. read more

Great family run archery shop!!! I was introduced to this shop by a friend and I've had great experiences with them. So me & my 5 friends came here for the first time thinking we were gonna experience a fun new activity. First thing first we walked in no one really explained anything to us they just told us to write our name & wait, I told the guy how long was the wait gonna be he said a couple of minutes will rotate you guys. So we ended up waiting 35 to 40 minutes watching regulars shoot there archery bow. So it seems they give priority to there regulars & at the end the guy said if you don't want to wait you guys can leave & that's exactly what we did. It wasn't even full. No communication, horrible customer service, they give priority to there regulars. Or we just came in on a bad day. read more
