Since this was a small on-going leak, I expected them to schedule me like a Dentist or Doctor would...asking "we have an opening 3 months from now, how does that sound?" Instead it was... "we can come over this morning." Well, within an hour, this narly dude named Tyler who claims 20-some years of experience showed up, examined the situation, cut the hole in the ceiling, and fixed the leak. The leak was due to aging pipes. The best part is it took him less than an hour! He asked for payment on the spot and took Visa which is just fine with me. Our heating has been on again off again for awhile. My wife contacted Alpine on a Wednesday, and…read morethey gave us an appointment time on Thursday. The technician showed up on time, and even gave a heads up call 15 minutes before he arrived. The techinican was CJ. I explained the multiple things going wrong with the heat pump and emergency heat, what worked sometimes, and what didn't work, and how things were intermittent. CJ was very attentive and listened carefully. He went to work and explained things to me as he went through his troubleshooting. It turns out there were two things wrong inside: 1) a sequencer for the emergency heat coils was malfunctioning partially sometimes and not working at all other times 2) a safety switch that is triggered when backflow occurs had stopped working, which turned the heat pump off. Outside, the unit was low on freon so he pumped in 4.5 pounds, along with a dye so that when he comes by in two weeks he can use a light to see where the leak(s) may be. Our heating works like it is supposed to now, and I am confident everything will continue to work, and CJ will come back it two weeks and wrap things up. CJ knows his stuff and is an expert in his trade.

Even though the part was fully covered under warranty, Alpine insisted we pay for the labor, $1,100 in refrigerant, and the $125 service fee. When I questioned the charges, they simply threw the warranty at me and pointed to the line saying refrigerant isn't covered -- as if that excused a failure that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Their original bill came to $1,750 for a problem that wasn't ours to begin with. Being charged for someone else's mistake just doesn't sit right with me. I asked multiple times for the service manager to call me so we could discuss the charges. He didn't call until two weeks after the repair was already completed. He claimed he had called several times, but after checking my call log, he had only called once -- and didn't leave a message. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work and communicates honestly, you may want to look elsewhere.

After running more tests, he informed us that we probably need a new AC unit since it was almost 15 years old and it was questionable whether it could be fixed. He then suggested that he could take out the part he installed and we would get a refund for that part since we had already paid him for the part/service call. We decided to purchase a new HVAC with Associated heating. Purchased a new system on 8/7/26 and it was installed on 8/24/26 while still waiting for a reimbursement for the part. Called the company at least 4 times concerning the refund and was told only one manager had the authority to approve the refund. I called again in early September and was informed that that manager was on vacation until 9/16/26 and I would be contacted when that manager got back. No response at all so I called again today 9/23/26. Was informed that manager was gone to training until 9/26/26. Promised they would put our request at the top of the need work pile. It is amazing that a company this size only has one person who can authorize a reimbursement to a customer. No one should ever have to wait 6 weeks plus for a $122.00 refund. Hopefully nothing will happen to this person. The technician, the salesperson, receptionist, the installers and scheduler were a pleasure to work with. I just wish, THEY change their refund process to a more customer friendly process.
