Didn't get a call until the next day and we agreed on a day 2 weeks out. Then I get a call today saying the business name has changed to San Francisco something and we had 2 no shows so they sent the hearing aids back and they no longer accept her insurance anymore. Ummm....what?? 1st off I called to reschedule... He argued that I didn't call... Really genius?? Then how did I get the other appointment?? And said if I called on Monday there was none there to answer the call, just the doctor. It's not my fault he wasn't there to do his job and it shouldn't have counted as a no show if I informed them earlier. Then says we no showed 3 days ago when I had it down for next week and didn't get any reminders. But the part that really gets me pissed is the fact he said they sent them back. I'm like, already? After 3 days? He said, in a rude manner, I don't know when they sent them but they did and now you have to go somewhere else. I have worked in the medical field at private practices for many years and this is not how you do business. And I can tell the front office help is lazy because many times I have left messages and have not received calls back. Save yourself the trouble and go else where! If I could I would give 0 stars!

The very first impression she gave was indifference followed by a hacking cough she tried to suppress (not wearing a mask). She walked in from the back room (of an already small office lobby) briefly looked at me, then gave me papers to fill out and started to turn. I asked if the pens were clean since there were no labeled pens and only 2 or 3 in the pen hold can. She said yeah as she was turning away. I forgot my mask and went back out to the car to get it, since they didn't have any available (not sure if a hearing test facility qualifies as a medical facility under the Santa Clara County Health dept.). After coming back in and turning in the form she again only looked at me when getting the forms once, and not again until my misunderstanding of what she said. Ironically I am at a hearing test place and heard her say is that 'butt' for your email; not the best handwriting. Corrected her, but was already agitated by the lack of a welcome and the feeling of indifference (with an extra dose of coughing), and then said why would you say that? Say "butt"? I wait a few seconds and she doesn't say anything. I eventually just go to the restroom. When I get out she said only said "bud". Then says it again, while at least looking at me this time, but now looking a little annoyed. Goes back to looking over the form and without looking at me, asks for my insurance card. I followed my instinct and said I am canceling my appointment. "Ok", looking at me with indifference again. I had to ask for my paperwork so it wouldn't be billed accidently. Once I got it, I started to leave, and mentioned she was coughing/sick. She sarcastically said 'bye'. I came back in and addressed her attitude and about being sick. I am guessing they have so much business it doesn't matter how she treats people, because she just turned and walked away... I left, because I didn't feel at that point I could trust them to do the testing correctly, and really didn't want to find out one way or the other...maybe you will get a different experience if you decide to go there...

They work very closely with the PAMF otolarygologists, so there is no delay between when the testing is finished and when the doctor sees the results. I was charged in advance (hearing clinics generally offer the test free of charge or include it in the hearing aid package). 2. The test could not be performed due to excessive ear was buildup on one ear. They had no one available on hand to clean the ear (something I routinely do my self in a few minutes with common ear drops). 3. The staff were unable to inform me if the clinic offered any kind of payment installment plan. 4. If I were to receive hearing aids, they would need to be ordered from the factory. (Other clinics carry a supply in stock and are able to program and fit them immediately following the hearing exam.) 5. Worst of all, I was told that I would need to wait for 3 months before an appointment would be available to have the new hearing aids fitted and programmed. Because this clinic operates under the blanket of PAMF, they seem to believe that normal customer service is not a requirement for their business. If you are looking for new hearing aids, don't come here!

The referral, the VNG testing…read more(videonystagmography), is an extensive test that looks for specific eye movement and to see if you have an inner ear disorder. I've been having episodes of vertigo so my ENT said this would be the next step in ruling out what was happening. I saw this audiologist at Palo Alto Medical Foundation's Mountain View office. The appointment itself took months to make and felt daunting, as I was informed it would take 90-120 minutes long. My experience and appointment with Ingyu was traumatic. The extreme dizziness aside from the last part of the test was one thing. His presentation and care (or should I say lack of care) is why I am writing this review. Ingyu sighed often and was audibly frustrated throughout our series of tests. He made comments that data could not be used and had me redo tests. He yelled at me to open my eyes over and over during the peak of my dizziness and nausea, and asked me "are you even trying?" or stated "you just gave up" during different parts of the testing. I wasn't there for an academic test and it's unfortunate that he cared more about data than about my safety, comfort, and ability to perform said test. I made this appointment to understand my health more and uncover answers on how to better care for myself. And instead, I was berated and felt extremely unsafe and was more focused on when I felt I needed to end the appointment vs. tracking balls across a screen. I was experiencing near panic attack symptoms and nightmares for days after my appointment with him. I filed a complaint with PAMF about his demeanor towards patients, in hopes that he is counseled and doesn't continue this harm towards others. His only saving grace in this review was that he made sure to check in to see if I would be consenting to the procedure, even in between each test we were taking. He explained the risks, including what we could not determine from results of the test. If you are referred to this doctor, please do your research and find someone else. But maybe, if you have him for another type of exam he's different. But is it worth finding out?

I have been seeing the same audiologist - who also is an audiology professor - for over a decade, but she was out of network for my employer's insurance plan. Better Hearing Center was the only place within 40 miles that had the Widex brand I wanted, so I made an appointment. Dr. Mark recommended the Resound brand over the Widex I originally wanted and he was absolutely correct due to the advances that Resound had over the older Widex models that I knew about. I would put Better Hearing Center into the "hearing aid mill" class of providers. Dr. Mark is personable and took the time to answer all of my questions during my initial testing and delivery appointments. However, I felt that my hearing test and hearing aid configuration were perfunctory. And when I called, emailed, and asked for assistance through the app to tune my programming several times around 14 months after I got them, I never got a response except from the office manager who told me she would pass my message along. I paid my long-term audiologist to take over management of my hearing aids so that she can tune them for me going forward. She made some small EQ tweaks and one VERY MAJOR change. She showed me that I had the wrong wires (#4), which were so long that the hearing air hung down behind my ear so that the front-facing microphone was hidden behind it and not picking up sounds from in front of me. That may explain why I couldn't hear in restaurants using the advanced beam-forming technology that was the main reason for choosing this brand. I remember asking Dr. Mark why he didn't use the wire-length template and he told me that he had enough experience to not need it. Guess that wasn't true. To sum up, Better Hearing Center may be your only in-network choice, and going with them is not a bad decision. Just be aware that you may not get the right configuration or follow up care that you need until your insurance pays for your next set of hearing aids. I am 9 months away from that and may need visit Dr. Mark again for an upgrade.

I agree with the other positive reviews about his bedside manner and proactive-ness. He said the ENTs at PAMF should have given me a reason for wanting to remove my ear tubes in 3 instead of 2 years (despite a perforation that required at tympanoplasty 2 years after my first set of tubes) other than "that's what we always tell people". Even better, he said I can leave the tubes in for as long as I want if they are not causing problems. I love a doctor who has the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude as I don't want to undergo unnecessary surgeries/procedures. Given that both he had Dr. Janas have treated multiple ear infections during the few months I saw them and the CT I had earlier this month showed mastoid fluid in both ears, it's possible I may need them removed in the future and he agreed that they would need to come out if infections persist. It's hard to find a doctor - especially an ENT - who both doesn't push unnecessary procedures/surgeries and isn't afraid to consider that route if the problem persists. Finally, I love that he gave honest recommendations for ENTs in/near Walnut Creek when I gave him some names of ENTs in network with my secondary insurance that MM doesn't accept (and I'm losing the primary they accept next week due to a new job). I told him what I want in a new ENT and appreciated that he didn't hesitate to steer me away from doctors who either had poor reviews or were sub specialists for issues that I don't need treatment. Several of the ENTs who have thrown their hands up over the years were sub-specialists (the 2 main offenders were a laryngologist and facial plastics) so Dr. Yun definitely understood why I wanted a general ENT. Some of the past recommendations I've received over the years - including an ENT I know personally who didn't even treat me as a pt - were biased and didn't take into consideration the qualities I want in a doc. Hopefully his recommendations will prove true when the time comes!
