I had ear wax removal here. I was able to book an appointment that for the very next day which was amazing since other places were about a month out to see anyone. The office is nice and does have parking. Everyone was really nice and I saw the audiologist quickly. She did an amazing job cleaning my ears. I can hear better now than in recent memory. My left ear suddenly became plugged and my hearing was impacted. I called a couple of Audiologists in the Peninsula and couldn't get an appointment until three weeks later. After a few tries I was resigned to wait 3 weeks for help. After two frustrating days I decided to try again and I found Pacific Hearing Service in Menlo Park. No scheduling problem here as they have a team of Audiologists in the office. I was able to get same day service. I walked in at 4:30 and met Ling Zhong. She took a look in my ear and confirmed it was ear wax and nothing worst causing my discomfort. After a few rounds with the Earigator my ear was cleared and I walked out a happy camper at 5:15. They are very nice and take the time to explain the technical parts and options. I didn't think my ears were that bad but my wife says I'm deaf. Turns out I'm 10% deaf and can't hear most vowels. I'm too cheap to buy the aids but I probably will in the next couple years. read more

My boyfriend and I went to have our ears professionally cleaned here after this place was recommended to us by a friend. They are a private practice so it doesn't really matter what insurance you have, as you will still have to pay their fixed cost for services (which wasn't that pricey, considering you would only need to have your ears professionally cleaned once a year or every two years). Valerie, the audiologist, was great and thorough with her explanations of every procedure. The process was very quick and easy! It was also great that she explained the differences between types of earwax and how to maintain them. My only recommendation would be to please clean the entirety of the ear canal if possible! Lol. We only had the deepest parts of our ears cleaned (the hard wax buildup near the eardrum), but for the price you pay, it's a little expected to have the entirety of the ear cleaned. In the "after" photos of my boyfriend's ear, there was still a lot of soft wax in the ear canal (just right before the eardrum) that we were expecting to have cleaned out. Maybe I didn't understand the procedure correctly, but I thought it would be an entire ear cleaning! It's okay though, as the deep part of the canal was what really mattered. During the pandemic when we donned masks, I realized that sometimes, I could not hear what others were saying, particularly if the speaker turned his/her head, and lowered his pitch. I had never experienced hearing difficulty before, but alas, I must have been reading lips more recently --which masks did not allow! I'm so grateful for randomly discovering this clinic searching for ear wax removal. I tend to overuse q-tips so I was worried about having a clogged ear due to some pain I've been experiencing. Dr. Valerie is amazing and her positive mood and wonderful attitude always makes me feel well taken care of. I went today to have ear wax (plug in left ear) removed. Dr. Peg Lisi was excellent at analyzing the situation with a high-resolution camera, and found out that my right ear had signficant wax build up as well. She is a great communicator and used the various tools so that any discomfort was minimized. I was impressed by the professional set up in the office (it felt almost like I was in a dental office, from the point of view of equipment). This was a very different (and significantly better) experience than Kaiser Permanente, where I was with the same problem about 3 year ago. At Kaiser, a nurse used relatively modest equipment under supervision by a general physician. Co-pay at Kaiser was $130, while at Pacific Hearing, the entire procedure was $85! I recommend to others to consider Pacific Hearing, and I personally will definitely go there again with any hearing issues. read more

I have been a Pacific Hearing (Menlo Park) customer for 4 years and was referred there by my mom (in her eighties at the time). I saw how my mom's quality of life was better after her hearing improved from getting hearing aids. So I decided to have Dr Baxter evaluate me. I had become increasingly aware that my hearing was getting worse. When I was in group meetings or social gatherings, I couldn't hear everything that people were saying. Increasingly, I had to ask people to repeat what they said, which became embarrassing and tiresome. My other options were to not respond to a comment or question, or worse - to guess what they said. I decided that the ability to hear was a priority for me as a businessman and personally. I needed to be able to hear. Dr Baxter and the entire Pacific Hearing staff are very professional without being stuffy. The battery of hearing tests were very thorough and her diagnosis and explanations were easy to understand. She presented a range of hearing aid options and price points for me to choose from. I never felt that she was trying to sell me anything. Her clear goal was to provide solutions for my hearing loss that fit my budget as well as my needs. I ended up getting WIDEX hearing aids. Based on my hearing test results, Dr Baxter "tuned" them to amplify specific sounds that I could no longer hear. Sounds that I could still hear were not amplified. Then the hearing aids were linked to my phone which allows me to make some adjustments on the fly in different situations (lots of background noise, etc). Cosmetically, they are not very noticeable. The particular model of hearing aids I chose was a major purchase for me. But they provided the hearing quality that helped me the most. Dr Baxter let me test drive the hearing aids for a week to decide if they were worth the investment. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I wear my hearing aids everyday for 12+ hrs. My life is so much better because now I can hear all the time! I hear the people talking to me, I hear relevant conversations around me at work and home, I can hear different pitches of music, cars approaching from behind when I'm walking, and I don't need the TV to be so loud. On and on. There is so much I would miss out on if I wasn't able to hear. All of the above has improved the quality of my life. I highly recommend Pacific Hearing and Dr Baxter (since she was the one that helped me. I think everyone is good). I consider them to be hearing experts and best of class. read more

I just went today to get ear wax removed. They found that I had no ear wax and that I wouldn't benefit from the ear wax removal procedure. They did not charge me at all! This says volumes. I scheduled an appointment with them for something else based on this one excellent visit. I really wish I had found them sooner. read more

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Pacific Hearing Service to have my ears cleaned. I received excellent service from Dr. Rachel North and her assistant. Even though I was the last appointment (5 pm), they did not rush through the procedure: They explained each step to me before starting, and made sure I was comfortable all the way through. I walked out with new ears! My only regret is that I did not do this sooner, as I had to suffer through several weeks of a semi-deaf right ear that was at least 50% blocked by years of accumulated ear wax. I just came back from a hearing aid cleaning and wax removal from my ears. They were extremely well organized. Patients were screened and then separated, each then welcomed inside separately, rooms were marked as "clean" or "used" -- the rooms were obviously cleaned between well space use. I felt 100% safe and it was all done with the usual staff, now gloved and masked, a staff that is always friendly, helpful and polite. read more

I went in for a wax cleaning because my ears had been clogged for a while, and the over-the-counter stuff wasn't working. Dr. Rachel Appleton was great - super thorough while being super efficient, and attentive in describing the process each step of the way. They used various different tools and were very obviously experienced about how to go about it. The customer service from the support staff was also excellent. I am a 76 year old, retired research physicist, but quite up to speed on matters technical. In a short span of time my mid range hearing from 3k to 5k Hz basically quit. While I could hear properly, I had difficulty understanding speech especially in high noise situations like crowded restaurants. At the Menlo Park office of Pacific Hearing Service I met Dr. Margaret (Peg) Lisi and during the 90 minute detailed technical evaluation, I knew I was in good hands with her. Any geeky question I could muster about the measurement gear, the result of my test, or a few simple critiques I had of the evaluation techniques were handled with knowledge and humor. Digging into my physics training I tried to trip Peg up but to no avail. Bottom line: Pacific Hearing Services in Menlo Park easily lives up to its reputation and while I am confident that the audiologists there are all skilled, but Peg was simple the best I have encountered. I used to go to another top hearing company in PA but they were more into selling me new hearing aids than helping me learn how to use the ones I have. The service at Pacific Hearing Service is exceptional. Kirstin is friendly, patient, and kind with my 83-year old father. They have dramatically improved the function of his hearing aids which were originally purchased in Pennsylvania. We also purchased an assist device which ultimately ended up being too complicated for him to use, despite multiple teaching sessions. They accepted the return no questions asked and continued to work with us to improve the function of his current hearing aids. The results have been dramatic.
