What a delicious place for cocktails and food! We had dinner and there were multiple dishes that were vegan. I especially recommend the aubergine dish, the plantain dish, and the carrot quinoa dish. The dishes are small and for two people we ordered 6 dishes. Expansive drink menu with creative cocktails. Would recommend!

I absolutely love this restaurant. It's a must go when you visit London. Everything taste amazing with bold flavours that's not over powering. The cocktails here are also delicious. I even tried their non alcoholic drinks and they were very yummy. It's the perfect of u want some Latin flair. What a deliciously healthy dinner we had at Pachamama! The atmosphere is romantic, with a lot of different intimate seating. The entrance itself is exciting because it's just a lovely staircase leading downstairs... to what!? You'll have to find out. We started out with the brown crab yucca churros and smoked cheddar tequeños. The cheese tequenos were not terribly unique but yummy nevertheless. The crab churros were really interesting, sweet and savoury- crunchy on the outside and softer on the inside. Very good! All of the ceviches really stool out. We only eat fish and we were really happy here- my favourite was the sea bass ceviche- a LOT of citrus but it really worked. The mushroom ceviche was also incredible. I was really impressed with this place. The service was excellent, atmosphere wonderful, and the food divine. yayayayyaya

Wonderful! New favourite Peruvian in Marylebone Booked a table for Sunday brunch at Pachamama after seeing incredible Instagram posts of their sweet & savoury waffles. Since opening, this place has been on my list, initially for their all day menu but as a brunch enthusiast I was glad to see they have a brunch menu now. The interior is lovely, which makes up for the lack of windows as the venue is below street level. The designer has great taste, and the room is full of unique and welcoming pieces. From the tableware, dining chairs, artwork - super cozy. Service is excellent and our waiter was helpful, kindly explained the different elements of the dishes and offered his recommendations. Normally, I am a savoury gal but I could not help myself when I read 'Sweet Potato Waffle with peanut butter, grilled plantain, cacao nibs, coconut, peanuts' on the menu. Beautiful, colorful presentation. The waffle was fluffy and not too heavy. The dish was sweet, but not overly sweet. Peanut butter is my favourite thing on the planet, and this waffle had a great combination of toppings - just the right amount of peanut butter without it overpowering or feeling too indulgent. Subtle, creamy and a little salty. Loved it. Paired my waffle with a great black Americano - perfect brunch. Tested the 'Smoked cheddar tequenos' which were delicate little filo parcels filled with smoked cheddar and paired with a sweet & tangy sauce. Probably didn't need to order these as I was waffle-full, but as a cheese lover I can say these would be my bar snack of choice. As recommended by our waiter, my friend had the 'Sweet Potato Waffle with Peruvian fried chicken, yacon & aji sauce'. This is a fun, lighter version of the American classic. All smiles, she cleared her plate. With a side of 'Asparagus, Onsen egg, peanuts' she was also happily brunch-stuffed. We will both be coming back, definitely for brunch. But more importantly, I have to test their lunch/dinner menu and cocktails. Highly recommend - as a lover of Peruvian food, this is a new favourite in the city.

4.5/5 Um...seeing the poor reviews on here kinda shocked me. Maybe I went on a really good day, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If price is a deterrent, definitely go for lunch: they offer most of the same dishes and ceviches but all are marked at £6...very reasonable. I'm pretty sure I loved or really enjoyed everything I sampled except the fried aubergine. Favorites, aka must-try's: lamb belly with jalapeno & miso sea bass, samphire, tiger's milk, radish and sweet potato sweet plaintain, feta, English malt The decor's cool too: hacienda meets modern aesthetic. Quiet day when I came, but I heard it's quite lively (esp. the bar) at night. Very nice service. Would definitely return!

The options of ceviche and pisco sours available on food and cocktail menus across the capital demonstrate Londoners' appetite for Peruvian cuisine. It's therefore unsurprising that a few swanky Peruvian restaurants have popped up, riding on the coattails of this demand. The interest in Latin-American food stems from its vivacious colours, a healthy focus on fish and grilled meats and its reliance on fresh herbs and ingredients. The balance of acidic citrus flavours with hints of spicy heat makes it highly palatable- after all, our taste buds have been seasoned to Mexican flavours and we're eager to embrace something equally bold and delicious. One of the establishments that specialises in Peruvian fare is Pachamama, located in Marylebone, just a hop and skip away from the bustle of Oxford Street. Inconspicuous from street level, a descending stairway separates central London from a vibrant hacienda of rustic-cum-chic décor. Despite its subterranean setting, the restaurant doesn't feel stale or claustrophobic- the atmosphere is breezy and lively and the chirpy waiting staff flow between tables, constantly demonstrating an open and warm demeanour. Pieces of rustic furniture- think stripped antique sideboards and retro fringed lampshades- feature alongside exposed brickwork and whitewashed walls. Lightbulbs hang from strings overhead and inaugural visits are marked by a vase of simple white blossoms placed on the table. These elements intermingle to create a space that is fun, casual and quirky. We were drawn to the idea of a Peruvian brunch, a new menu offered by the restaurant, and made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon. It was busy, but the floor was well staffed, so servers were always poised and approachable. I immediately spotted the tell-tale sign of a visual feast: mobile phones and cameras were at the ready to capture each plate as it arrived. It wasn't difficult to see why- the plates whizzing by were ornate and assembled with an artistic touch- each one a humble waffle in glorious Technicolor. Our waitress was enthusiastic and went through the brunch menu with us in detail. Waffles were made from either sweet potato (gluten-free) or quinoa, the former a naturally soft and sweet base while the latter was more textured and dense. Selections of sweet and savoury toppings were possible, six in total. Waffles were larger dishes and were best shared- especially because they came out of the kitchen as they were prepared. It was suggested that we order one of the sides each. I immediately honed in on the beetroot cured salmon, avocado and poached egg while my boyfriend leaped on the buttermilk fried chicken with yacon & aji sauce. I also ordered the aubergine with pecans and smoked yogurt on the side- apparently the restaurant's most popular choice. My salmon was infused with a stripe of blazing red from beetroot and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The egg was poached to perfection and burst its golden yolk with a gentle prod. The flavours were fresh, simple and satisfying. There were no table sauces or accompanying condiments on the plate, however- the squishy potato waffle would have benefited from this, as a single egg didn't provide much yolk and it was slightly dry as a consequence. The side was more of a revelation. The pieces of aubergine were tender, pulling apart effortlessly and revealing a soft, fleshy inside. Marinated in a smoky sauce that was rich and moreish, it sat in a creamy yogurt bed and was generously topped with crunchy chopped pecans. The textures and nuances made this a standout dish- it vacillated from being sweet, smoky and sticky in a single forkful. The fried chicken topping was perhaps the star of the waffle menu- it was extremely popular with adjacent diners that afternoon and irrefutably delicious. This boasted a crunchy exterior with a perfectly moist centre without a single bite of stodgy mush. The sweet sauce drizzled over the dish was like honey. The syrupy sweetness sang in unison with the savoury chicken (because sweet and savoury can coexist when done properly). The food was visually impressive and the service was superlative, but I recommend that you select your dishes with the intention to share- we chose a waffle each, both from the savoury menu, and lamented not going one sweet and one savoury. My waffle also arrived promptly, but I was almost finished by the time the second one arrived. Be prepared for tapas style brunching. We had an enjoyable and tasty brunch at Pachamama- the ambience was more lively and casual than I expected and service was impeccable. The food was artistically presented and appealing. The only deterrent was the price point, so we'll be limiting our brunch trips to Peru for special occasions- unless we come across some lost Inca gold, that is.

    Thumbnail sized tacos

I give this place 6-8 months before it folds. South American food is the new sushi for London and Pachamama is the new wannabe on this trend. Save your money and go to Ceviche or Coya instead. The head chef of Ottolenghi started this place. On a Friday night when any restaurant worth its measure should be packed to the gills this place was empty (granted it is new). The ambience was upscale and nice. Good Pisco-based cocktails. Kudos! But the food was so-so. The best thing we had was the lamb belly. Most dishes were half the size of what you expect at a high quality tapas style place. e.g. The tacos were the size of thumbnails. Half an hour later the ceviche made our tummies hurt. And we know (and make) good gastric-parts friendly ceviche. 6 dishes and £70 later my dinner companion and I were still hungry. We had the choice of spending another £70-80 on 6 more courses to fill up or crossing the street to Tommi's Burgers to get 2 burger meals for £20. We went to Tommi's and were happy for it.

Sundays are for brunching. If all my Sundays started with Pisco sour cocktails I would be a very drunk and happy lady. ...Not that it is very hard to get me rather tipsy. With it's discrete easy-to-miss ground floor entrance and distressed wooden staircase leading into the basement to a surprisingly voluminous space; Pachamama feels a secret underground hideout. Inside, it's as if you've stepped into Nana's home with her wonderfully eccentric decor, and bric-a-brac artfully placed around the restaurant. Think muted colours, warm lighting and an air of carefree relaxation. Cue triple orders of Miraflores: Barsol Quebranta Pisco, Mandarine Napoleon, strawberries, lychee, lime, orange blossom, bitters and violet foam. Dangerously delicious, as you only faintly taste any alcohol, but by the end of the glass; I was red-faced and semi slurring my speech.... Maybe just one more... The menu is small, but wonderfully thought-out, themed around small bites and grouped into snacks; land, sand and soil all priced between £5 - £14 (during lunch). To soak up the alcohol, so I don't just lay cross-eyed on mama's floor. We ordered almost the whole menu. Food comes as and when it is ready, so prepare to eat endlessly, until you can't breathe any more. This also adds to the relaxed atmosphere... Peruvian fried chicken, I have to admit I was a little blown away by the juiciness of the chicken encased in the light, crispy batter. Next up we had the Brown crab and yuca churros. Oh yes, you heard correct. Crab churros... you half expect these not to work as well as they do, but these were utterly gorgeous. Think cassava paste with crab, deep fried and coated in citric sugar. Fluffy yet crispy, with notes of shellfish. A must-try! House sea bass and samphire ceviche was refreshing as it was light and excellently paired with the different flavour combinations. Sweet and sour. You have to just admire the artfully plated Salmon tiradito, with beetroot and avaocado. It was a real feast for the eyes, and almost too pretty to eat. Or maybe not.... when is anything too pretty to eat?! NOT EVER. This was a power bomb of flavour with the sweetness of the beetroots perfectly paired with the subtle sweetness of the salmon and creaminess of the avocado. There was one dish that was the heart throb, the lime-light stealer, the sex bomb of the afternoon. He was the Pork belly chicharrones. Think sticky sweet, uber soft and tender pork medallions with 10x intensity of flavour. Literally sucker punched so hard, your eyes pop and you look over and give your companion that silent nod of approval. This is one dish that if you blink too fast will be gone in a heart beat. You can never go wrong with some padron peppers sprinkled with flakes of sea salt. Brunch isn't quite complete without a side order of quinoa waffles with bacon and yacon syrup. Oh yes that does mean that it is gluten free! These quinoa waffles were very soft yet crispy, completely well balanced between sweet and savoury. The aubergine, smoked yoghurt with peanuts was one of my other highlights. I can't seem to string the right words to describe the flavour. It was just everything I wanted it to be. Soft gooey texture, with crunchy peanuts resting on a generous smear of smoked yoghurt. Juicy. Isn't she a a sight for sore eyes. Crispy, yet soft deep-fried slices of plantain with feta, black olives and yacon syrup. Normally I am quite the vege snub, but the vegetarian options at Pachamama were some of THE BEST dishes on the menu. The plantain was perfection, sweet plantain laced with yacon syrup with the saltiness of the feta and olives was just pure pleasure. I could have easily scooped the whole lot and eaten all myself. My least favourite was the Crispy lamb belly, with jalepeno and miso. The lamb was alittle too tough and over cooked unfortunately. 'Duck on rice' such a simple description for the bounty presented before me. Succulent duck breast was cooked to medium-well drizzled with with a rich jus and resting on a airy pile of coriander-infused rice. Admittedly, the desserts at Pachamama were not as strong as their mains. But after such an afternoon of gluttony, they were the most worthy companion to finish off the meal. Basil sorbet, with meringue gems and blackberry coulis; was very refreshing and tart in all the right places. I just wished there was more of that basil sorbet. Fragrant, subtle and delicious. Followed by the Peach leche tart, this was again very refreshing surprisingly. I was expecting this to be rather rich and decadent. Very subtle hints of peach. There isn't much I can fault with Pachamama. The hidden-away feel of the restaurant, only adds to it's charm. Just a few side streets off Bond Street make it an ideal date spot with the girls, or even for a date for those killer cocktails. http://yummei.com/2016/05/pachamama.html

Peruvian chocolate with toasted quinoa ice cream

Omg this place is amazing. The flavors are so absurd but the food is DELICIOUS. The lamb belly chicharrones....OUT OF THIS WORLD. And the dessert, I was so full but I couldn't stop eating it. If I ever come back to London this will be the first place I will stop by again.

It was about 10 PM and my husband and I wanted to go out to have a drink and a snack somewhere. I recommended Pachamama in our neighbourhood since we haven't checked it out yet and boy am I glad we went. Food: The menu is Peruvian tapas. All small servings, but enough to share for two people. We ordered the tequenos, beef croquettes, crispy lamb belly, fried aubergine and for dessert the chocolate with quinoa ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious. I couldn't pick a favourite out of the five dishes we ordered because they were all equally good. Drinks: We ordered two glasses of their special solysombra cocktails which were big and delicious. Price: 61.88 GBP for two people. Ambiance: The restaurant is located lower level and when you walk down the stairs the feel of the restaurant is cozy, fun and friendly. It's actually much larger than I expected. Service: The service is very friendly. The hostess, the bartenders, the servers were all super friendly and helpful with questions we had about the menu. Would I go back? Definitely! We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.

My delicious quinoa waffle topped with toasted quinoa ice cream and Peruvian chocolate

I was excited all week to try out Pachamama's Peruvian twist on the classic weekend brunch. In particular, their waffle menu has been on my radar for a while thanks to Instagram. The restaurant itself is very pretty. The décor is simple yet very classy with an excellent use of daylight. Clusters of large tables mean that you can easily rally a big group for a nice brunch outing. You can pick either quinoa or sweet potato for your waffles and we get both to try. This is the first time I have had waffles made of either ingredient so I am intrigued. Topping wise, my sister opts for the peanut butter and grilled plaintain one and I , quite predictably, zone in onto the Peruvian chocolate and quinoa ice cream. The quinoa waffle works very nicely. The flavour is delicate and the waffle is very fluffy and light. The toasted quinoa ice cream pairs balances out the rich flavour of the chocolate ganache. In contrast, the sweet potato waffle is a bit denser and the flavour of the waffle is far more overpowering leading us to think that it might have been a better choice for a savoury topping than the sweet. Slightly less satisfactory than the first one we had as the toppings weren't terribly exciting either. Not vastly different from slapping a few slices of banana onto peanut butter. Regardless, both waffles were presented beautifully, complete with edible flowers. Service was also prompt throughout and all in all, it was a lovely brunch experience. If you are out to try something different than pancakes and scrambled eggs, Pachamama should be top on your list!

Really good food, beautiful presentation however very expensive for what it was I wouldn't be able to afford to come back unless special occasion Well worth one visit though - rating based on price and restaurant atmosphere The brunch menu also looks fab!

Went for the new lunch menu, 4 small plates for £18. Some of the plates were very small. We had the ceviche, anticuchos, ribs and dish of the day , the duck. Most dishes were over salty. The duck was great but quite small. The place was empty when we walked in but then discovered that everyone was seated in a side room. Very strange.

While it may be a bit on the pricey side, the experience is undeniably worth every penny, especially if you're looking for a night of shared dishes, attentive service, and great atmosphere. the mood is perfect for an intimate dinner or a celebration with friends, as it was when i came here for my birthday! the guac was prepared on the table, and had a great freshness to it, but was not worth the money imo bc it tasted pretty ordinary to me. same for the antichuchos de pollo - they were so small and tasted like regular skewers to me - they had a nice smoky flavor, but nothing that couldn't be achieved at home easily. i liked the trio de maiz, which had many different types of maiz, and was presented beautifully! the dish was very fresh and almost nutty. also liked their take on patatas bravas, which was perfectly crispy and with a delicious creamy sauce. love love loved the tiradito de pez limon, which had the most melt in your mouth yellowtail crudo/sashimi. it was paired with an amazing slightly spicy green chili sauce, and overall flavors were phenomenal. the orange tobiko wasn't there though... the salmon was one of the best things i had that night - perfectly cooked and tender, melty and delicious! amazing flavor pairings, scrumptious overall! dessert was one of the highlights of the meal as well. the churros were citrusy and fried to perfection, and paired with a great sauce. my personal favorite was the passionfruit mango pavlova thing, which had such a bright tartness! everything was served on what looked like homemade pottery, so lovely! the price point seemed a little irrational for what we received, but everything was delicious, and the overall experience was amazing! highly recommend if you're feeling a bit posh or just want to treat yourself!

We didn't think we would have enough time to dine here during our culinary focused action packed trip. But it was conveniently around the corner from the Ham Yard hotel where we stayed and we strolled in late on a Saturday night after a long day of touring. They greeted us warmly and sat us upstairs promptly even though we didn't have a reservation and it was late and quite packed. The owner made some cocktail recommendations and I settled on the pisco sour and my husband had a spicy drink, I think it was the karay. Both were delicious. For the record, I am not typically a cocktail girl as they're often cloyingly sweet and not well balanced, but these drinks were spot on. We started with all three ceviches...the artichoke vegetarian one and the tuna and sea bass versions. The artichoke dish was very interesting and a bit surprising but tasty nonetheless. The sea bass was delish and the tuna kind of what you'd expect, but solid as well if not overly inspired. I had a salmon entree and hubby had the grilled octopus, both were very good. We really wanted to try the "Andean mess" for dessert..we saw several pass on by to the neighboring table but we were quite full. I would definitely try upon return. In summary, the service and high quality fresh ingredients really make this place a great dining destination. The entrees are not quite as inspired as I would have expected which is why I didn't award the fourth star. But all in all, this Peruvian establishment has service that really cares and food that works well. I would definitely come back or try one of their other establishments.

I do suggest tto make reservations and ask for your preferred seating of high tops or regular table top. Or else you may have to expect a bit of a wait. Seating area is not too big but it's open kitchen and staff are quite friendly. Food comes at a quick speed. 4 single stall toilets available. Mon-Fri 3-7pm Happy Hour specials Saturday & Sunday Bottomless Brunch specials See my photos for details. Tapas were all small plates and does not come sigh sides. Sides are even smaller as you would expect. Everything was delicious and beautiful. BBQ plates are a bit bigger and could be quite filling. The flat iron steak was quite smokey. And the pork ribs were fall off the bones. The cocktails were beautifully crafted. Overall I definitely recommend this gem.

Jigar was awesome and walked me through some of the drink pairings that you can add on to the tasting menus for a fee. The food came quickly and everything was unique and tasty, we dined at 18:30 and I didn't feel a reservation was needed but made one just in case (a reservation would come in handy on weekends) would definitely dine here again

Emanuel is in the basement of a Eurotraveller budget hostel, just off Walworth Road. Thankfully, it's brightly signed, and easy to find. The owner and his wife run this small but well-decorated restaurant, enthusiastically frequented by Peruvians and other Latin Americans. The staff are extremely friendly (the owner speaks fluent English, but he's often not about; his wife speaks fairly good English) and make you feel welcome. However.... we discovered that the star of the menu -- Pollo a la Brasa (Peruvian rotisserie roast chicken -- which, oddly, is not even listed on the menu) -- must be ordered in advance! Imagine our sadness to discover this. But according to our friend, for £25, it's a deliciously flavoured roast chicken with herbs and spices including chili; and comes with yuca chips, salad, and an alarmingly coloured Inca Kola. We started with Ceviche de Mariscos (seafood ceviche, made fresh, 'cooked' with lemon juice). It was an amazing, citrusy concoction. We never would have guessed the fish was raw. The caldo de gallina (hen soup) was a bit boring, sadly. But the Parihuela (Peruvian seafood stew) was a yummy garlicky concoction. As was the Arroz Con Pato (chicken with rice), with cilantro and other flavours. One note: we found the pricing to be a bit high, especially for the Walworth area. We'd advise Emanuel restaurant to consider either lowering the prices. Or perhaps to offer discounts (for example, 20% off on Tues, Wed, or Thurs between 1-5pm). But the servings were large, and the food was delightful. We'll definitely come here again. Although we'll be calling ahead to order the Polla a la Brasa!

I understand places being busy or short-staffed, but it's never acceptable to be greeted in such manner. Then one of the waitresses comes out and tells us right away that we only have 1.5 hours to eat. Everything was rushed for the service. The appetizer was not even warm. The chicha morada was watered down. Perhaps for someone of non-Peruvian descent, they wouldn't know better. But it just tasted like flavored water than the original drink. The lomo saltado had too much vinegar, the fries were cold (seemed like they were just added). The white rice had no flavor, no salt. I have always made it a point to go to many Peruvian restaurants around the world on my travels, but this one I would definitely rate on the lower end. This place is definitely not an ambassador of our world renowned and famed cuisine when in London!

Service is good, although the order of the items was incorrect (we got nuts after the starters...) I went for the discovery menu (for £24.50 per person for minimum 2 people) thinking we would get a smaller size of each dish but we actually got a single dish to share between 2 people. This should be clarified on the menu. The Ceviche was fine but it had very little to no fish, definitely not worth the price. Overall, the discovery menu is not good value for money since for the same price you can get two entire dishes and maybe sharing a starter or dessert for way better value.
