Ask the Community - Pace Staffing Network

Do they place people in Seattle, or only in Bellevue?

Hi ... they will place you wherever they have openings for any of their clients. I believe they have PACE locations throughout WA. I went through their Bellevue office and I work in Renton/Tukwila.

Fast forward to May 2019... I met with Sean. He seemed nice, very young, and not quite sure of himself. I ended up interviewing him. Turns out he was fairly new to the position, so I cut him some slack. Sean was pretty diligent in sending job opportunities my way, but I was pretty specific about what I wanted, where I wanted to commute to. During this time, I started working a temp position (not through AO), and stayed in touch with Sean. July 16, 2019, I got an "urgent" call from Sean. "I think I have the perfect position for you." Sean hooked me up with Ali Wadood. Apparently, Sean had been singing my praises (thank you!), and Ali wanted to present me to a position in Everett. I interviewed on the 18th. Job was offered on the 23rd. I started new position on the 24th! More money than I was asking for, 10 minute commute to/from work. Thank you Sean and Ali! I appreciate you both very much!!

It was supposed to be a 30-minute session to discuss my goals, but it ended in just five minutes. The person I spoke with seemed uninterested and dismissive from the beginning. When he asked about my visa status (I'm on OPT as an international student), his demeanor completely changed. He basically told me it wasn't going to work out without offering any advice or alternatives. He didn't even ask about my goals or what I wanted to achieve--he just focused on my visa status and made me feel like I didn't belong. If it's true that Apple doesn't accept OPT, then fine, but the way this was handled was frustrating and unprofessional.

Okay, I might be a bit biased about the quality of the software engineering talent because I'm one of them. My team at Microsoft hired InConsulting to take care of their contracting needs and I cannot be happier with their services. They have a really quick turnaround and I feel very well taken care of. From the time I started working with them, they've been very up front about timeline, cost structure and other things that I needed to know. They're a small firm, so there's a personal touch to everything, which I think makes all the difference. My Microsoft hiring team is also happy because of the quick turnaround time and the fact that they're only charging an 8% rate (as opposed to the 25-35% industry standard). If you're looking for engineering talents for short- and long-term needs, I'd definitely recommend checking out InConsulting.

She took the time to listen to what I needed without judgement or hesitation. Every bullet point was checked off, every email was answered. Terrific company with a terrific owner.

I did NOT meet with just one person, the assistant of the person who had contacted me. I have worked with two other staffing agencies but neither of them have treated me as well as AppleOne. Just a couple of days after our first meeting Justin had gotten me an interview. He sent along a packet of information that really helped me to prep for the interview process. Turned out after making the drive from Everett into Ballard I wasn't as thrilled with the position and I just couldn't see myself doing that every day. Not their fault, I had told Justin that I was willing to work in that area, and I would be for the perfect position but this just wasn't it. I let Justin know that I was not interested in that position but he didn't stop working for me. I took it as a learning experience and I kept looking. A week later he had another interview for me in a position that seems like a perfect fit. I am going back for a second interview tomorrow and regardless if I get the position or not I cannot thank Justin enough for making it happen and for guiding me through the process.

However, both recruiters do not get back to you and I do bring a solid skill set to both of the positions. The first recruiter just would not get back to me. I called in to see if there is another recruiter I could work with. The manager called left me a voice message. I returned the call and left a voice message to top call me back to never hear back. I received a requirement last Friday. I have replied twice letting the recruiter know I am interested and would like to be considered for the position. I called in to the office today and the reception said the recruiter was on a call and she would call me back. I see some good reviews on this staff. unfortunately, I have not experienced the same.

They did half of what they said they told me they would do, whereas AppleOne did all of what they…read moretold me they could do, therefore OfficeTeam only gets half the rating AppleOne does. They share an Office with Creative (which is run by Robert Half & Accountemps). So I interviewed all at once many months ago when I first moved into the city. Laura from Creative was nice enough to introduce me to Adriana from OfficeTeam. Like Laura, she was professional during the interview, seemed like she knew what she was doing. They talked a big game, sold what they could do well, but didn't actually do it. They never found me any part or full time work, whereas AppleOne quickly did. I barely ever heard from Adriana after that day. Dani from OfficeTeam did find me day to day stuff, but it was always last minute when they'd make you aware - such as a few days before or day of. So unless you sit around all day with an open schedule, the day to day work is very short notice. But I guess at least she tried to do something, so points there. If you ask them about their poor reviews online, or if they're reading this they might be thinking, "Oh it's because we couldn't find them work so they're just mad." But other agencies did find me work much faster, so I'm rating them based on what I experienced elsewhere. And it wasn't that this company got me some interviews, and this other company got me a couple more interviews and I landed a job. I'm talking a large discrepancy, so OfficeTeam was probably not trying very hard. So, the fact is that they didn't do their job near as effectively as other temp agencies. Also, they messed up on some of my paperwork, and I had to go to their office to fix it - they forgot to get the info on Green Card which could have been a big HR screwup. I couldn't fairly give them 1 star though. A major positive is that they're polite and easy to deal with on the phone. Some recruiters take a long time to reply to Emails, respond to timesheet software issues, or sound angry on the phone. Neither Laura or Adriana were ever moody on the phone and were always polite. They're fast when returning Voicemails and Emails, tend to still be in-office after 5pm. Same with Dani, but Dani would pressure really hard for the day to day jobs, she'd try to get a "yes" before even describing to me what the job entailed or the pay. She'd make a fantastic sales person, probably a big fan of the book "How To Get To Yes." (Edit: I gave them a below-average review on a survey they Emailed me. And someone from their office called me and told me what they could do better. I essentially told them that they probably could have tried harder, because other temp agencies did a better job. They said stuff similar to when I interviewed, that they'd find me this & that, and I never heard from them again which was what I assumed would happen. But at least they read their surveys, so you know at least there's some sort of effort given in this aspect.) Overall, I've probably spent more money on parking meeting them and filing paperwork at their Seattle office, than money made from work they've found me. If you're new to the city and randomly job searching, they're probably worth a quick shot to send your resume online to, but I wouldn't expect much effort on their part past the initial interview.
