I went for a consultation with Dr. Boyer, and after having an x-ray taken of my teeth, he suggested I only needed to remove my upper wisdom teeth since the bottom wisdom teeth were not bothering me and were too close to a nerve in my jaw that could potentially cause damage. Scheduling the appointment for the extraction was quick and easy--I was penciled in for the following Tuesday (the Bloomingdale office is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). The day of, I was extremely nervous and informed Dr. Boyer and his assistant and they reassured me that it wouldn't take that long and told me stories to keep my mind off worrying. One of my wisdom teeth was a simple pull and the other was bony impacted, so I opted for nitrous oxide and local anesthetic. The longest part of the procedure was waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect. I was surprised at how easy the whole thing was. I even got to keep my teeth in a little tooth shaped box. They even let me take a selfie with them which was pretty neat.

The high end locations are usually boutique with a fancy sitting room, coffee machine, etc. The bigger chains are nice too, but may not feel as boutique. When it comes to your teeth the lobby and sitting room should not be top of list. The last high end boutique dental office I went to overcharged me for everything. I get 2 cleanings a year, and my 2nd visit was going to be out of pocket because my limit was hit on the first visit. That said, I liked Aspen Dental. I felt they were honest and had my needs at the heart of their plan. They were very nice, and this office is nice too.

The same doctor did both of my extractions. He did a good job and amazingly painless. I rarely have not even felt the first Novocain injection! Good place. The clinic is newly renovated and beautifully done. I've had my share of dental issues including a recent front tooth breakage (due to a root canal that was stemmed from a sports injury years ago) where Dr. Patel saved me! She had told me to put on that crown but I didn't listen. One day, as I chomped on a sandwich, my front tooth cracked in half on a Sunday afternoon. I called the clinic and the answering service paged the Doc and she called me back immediately. she put me in priority and saw me first thing Monday morning at 8am. That is what I call service!! And then the best part happened. Since I used up all my coverage for dental work and am not financially ready for the crown work, she SCULPTED me a new tooth using what is left of my tooth using filling material (I think). My front tooth looks PERFECT with a perfect color match to booth. My tooth feels strong and I've very careful with it. I can't recommend Dr. Patel enough. She is extremely skilled. I have started taking my kids to see Tammy the hygienist who I also love love love!!! If you're looking for a top notch clinic with an amazing staff (LOVE YOU TOO IRIS AND DEBBIE!!) then you need to come and see Dr. Patel and her incredible team!
