I CANNOT believe that I have never left a review here! I've been coming here for a couple years…read morejust for the Margherita pizza! It's truly sensational and the most authentic I have tasted! When I order I go in person because I have special requests of extra sauce, etc and everyone who leaves this amazing restaurant always raves about it to the staff upon leaving. The best part though is just how NICE they ALL are! I fly from LA just to come get pizza and some to take back. The crust is perfect chewiness and perfection with the right amount of airy and right about of thin and the sauce is amazing! You will NOT be disappointed! They also fulfill my special requests with ease and a smile! I have told thousands of flight crew about this place as it's right around the corner from our layover hotel. I bid this layover ONLY to get pizza. Yes, I gave up a Hawaii, Cancun and Costa Rica trip for this layover for Mucca Pizza, so that should say it all! So appreciate how kindly they treat you when you walk in the door:) amazing staff and owner.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

Super fast service and super yummy food…read more I always get their #4 because it's so good. It has Italian sausage, red sauce, calabrian chiles, mozzarella, and ricotta on top. A slice of that dipped in their ranch (they give a side of ranch for all pizza orders) is heavenly. Their ranch is actually the best ranch I have ever had. I wish they sold bottles of it so I can have it at home. They also have seasonal specials, like their pickle pizza with hot honey, or the french onion soup pizza (so good). I would recommend doing takeout as there is limited seating.

If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. But when you want the thin-crust version done right, Pizza Kat will leave your taste buds and tummy purring, without clawing the life out of your wallet.

The crust needs to be thick but light and airy in the inside, with a crispy, greasy bottom pocked with air holes. The bottom of this crust was smooth, which probably limits how much oil they can use. The sauce was way too thick (about 3/8") and extremely salty. The cheese and pepperoni were ok. Quality of ingredients was good. Overall the pizza was just average, and I would have preferred Jet's. Price was good and 1 pepperoni slice is a meal. I ordered 2 slices and did not finish the second. (For comparison, 2 slices of Buddy's is a meal but I end up eating a 4 square.) Good service, low frills place.

It's true NY style, thin enough to fold if you're walking, the perfect amount of oily, with only the freshest of mozzarella. Slices are available at the counter (and a few stools if you're just having a quick lunch) all day. For a whole pie, call ahead to schedule (503-22-SLICE has been their number since I moved here decades ago) and they'll give you a time generally 20-35 minutes in the future depending on how busy they are. Staff are just like NYC: no suck-up, extra sarcasm, and if you stand at the register for 5+ minutes fumbling with your wallet, they might make a snide comment. But it's endearing grouchy, not really mean, and it adds to the "flavor" of the whole place. Parking in NW 23 is usually very hard. It's now 2026 and I gotta ask, have they stopped completely baking the pizza? I'm pretty sure that if a child drew a pizza with a box of crayons, they would color the crust to be brown rather than leave it white. So I wonder, are their pizza ovens no longer hot enough to create a completely cooked crust anymore? Just, what happened? Anyway, now I always scan the pizzas that are out before I get in line. If there's at least one pizza that looks like a child drew it, I stay. If not, I go.

Who is very friendly and paid us a visit during our recent and superb happy hour outing. I needed a place within walking distance from my place and also needed something vegan friendly for my friend Nadia. She ordered the magherita pizza without cheese. Aria ordered the gnocchi. I went with the mozerella stuffed ravioli. Portions were generous. Everyone but me was able to finish theirs. I just couldn't manage to eat the last one. The bartender, God bless her, whipped up a spirit forward absinthe cocktail for me that just rocked. There is a long bar and several cozy booths. The verdict: Gilda's is a top notch happy hour spot. The pizza is usually good, it's a joint that has pies on display and they reheat slices as they are ordered... so the key is to look at all the pies and pick the freshest looking ones. The pepperoni in the display case looked like the freshest one so I ordered three slices. My friend ordered 1 cheese and 1 pepperoni after me. He received his slices first, in fact not only did he receive his slices first but he was done eating when we finally received ours... and you would think after waiting all that time we would have got some fresh slices; but that wasn't the case. The slices we received tasted like they were three days old and reheated three different times. The crust was so hard and crisp it disintegrated when you bit into it and they threw a few new shreds of mozzarella on top to make it look fresher (look at pictures).
