    Breadsticks

We have been ordering here for over 10 years. Our favorite thing was the breadsticks. Ordered two orders of 6 breadsticks along with pizza tonight. Every single breadstick was burned. There were even burned spots on the pizza. Called to inform since we have come here so long rather than leaving a negative review and thought they would say sorry and maybe say they would give a credit or free order of breadsticks next time, or maybe say to call tomorrow and talk to someone. Instead I was put on hold and a girl came to the phone and said I needed to go through DoorDash which was understandable, but I asked is this how your breadsticks usually come now and she said yes that's how they come with an attitude and hung up. Called back, she answered, asked to get a name, she hung up. Called a bit later and Gabe answered and before I could ask for the managers name, he then also hung up on me. They were both incredibly rude and unprofessional.

I have been going to Sparky's pizza for over 10 years. And this specific location over a dozen times. Everything's always been great- until today. I ordered a large breadstick for take-out. When I brought it home it was completely raw dough on the inside. I totally understand that the breadsticks are a signature item you have, and they're always so soft and perfectly cooked. However, when I called to let them know I had received one that was raw on the inside, I was informed that's how the owner wants them served..... needless to say, it'll be the last time I order a breadstick there. It wasn't even cooked on the inside, it was literally stretchy raw dough. As pictured below. Absolutely not okay.

I love Sparkys. We come here a few times a month. Love the taste of their dough and sauce. The cheese pizza is super cheesy! 1 topping for only $10, we love the pineapple only pizza. Or the Village Veggie, take off green peppers, add bacon.... Dont sleep on Sparkys!

One star for decent pizza but read on... Restaurant on Lombard needs a deep cleaning. Table was sticky and obviously had not been really cleaned for a long while. So much grease that someone had scratched their name in the dirt. The napkin holder was so dirty I would not want to touch it. Staff obviously did not wash hands before making salad as the box was covered with greasy fingerprints, the salad au nature, and Greek and not the Garden salad I ordered. Pizza was OK but built from the center out and not from the edge toward the center resulting in two or three inches without toppings. That is buying a 14" pizza for the price of an 18". The delivery van was parked in the handicapped parking space. There was one empty in front so I had a parking place without walking too far.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

A slice of that dipped in their ranch (they give a side of ranch for all pizza orders) is heavenly. Their ranch is actually the best ranch I have ever had. I wish they sold bottles of it so I can have it at home. They also have seasonal specials, like their pickle pizza with hot honey, or the french onion soup pizza (so good). I would recommend doing takeout as there is limited seating.
