When they arrived one of the installers was working, the other one was watching videos on their phone. By 7pm they said the unit was installed however there was a faulty TXV valve. The supervisor who had come out with them, Shawn Leonard, explained the situation and he personally promised us it would be taken care of the next day and he would be back to fix it. The next morning my fiance got a call from Shaun who couldn't find the part. He said he would update us. Around 1pm I called Shawn who said the part was there and that he was trying to figure out IF it could be done that day. I reminded Shawn that he had personally promised it would be done that day and let him know I was starting to have trouble breathing due to the heat. Shawn explained that all of the techs were busy and he wasn't sure if he could get anyone there today. I explained he could come after he was done with whatever he was working on. He asked if I meant after 6pm to which I informed him if that's what it took to fulfill his promise than yes. He responded with "Oh, I'm not doing that." I informed Shawn that if this wasn't done today we would have a massive problem due to the fact that I was having a hard time breathing in my home already. Shawn responded with "there's no need for threats ma'am." I replied, "That's not a threat. I would consider it a massive issue if I end up in the ER tonight due to you not fulfilling this promise. Your company would also consider it one as you were aware of this and chose not to do anything." Shawn informed me he would keep looking into it. I called Gold Medal customer service who were horrified when I told them and immediately put in a complaint. I mentioned what had happened to our sales rep and he asked why Shawn hadn't simply taken one from another unit. Shawn called my fiance and explained that they couldn't get anyone out until the next day. My fiance told them to come at 7am as I was having trouble breathing. That night I ended up spending about 4 hours in my car with the ac on to breathe. The next morning Shaun showed up at 7am and was there until about 1pm. As they were leaving Shawn went up to my fiance and spoke to him. My fiance said that Shawn had admitted I had every right to be upset and that he was out of line. I waited a week and a half to hear from a Gold Medal representative. Bree informed me she was handling my case and normally it didn't get to her until it had been escalated a lot. I explained the entire situation as well as my fiance missing a week of work and she said she would talk to the executives. A few hours later the new General manager called me. I explained everything and he explained that the first thing he had done upon getting the position was fire the install and maintenance managers and that this wasn't the only issue he was having as a result of their mismanagement. A few days later I got a call from Bree explaining that she had talked to the executives and they had come up with a a small amount off. I informed her that it didn't even cover the days my fiance missed work let alone me having to spend 4 hours in my car and still not having an apology. She explained that they were also handling the situation internally as well and that since I didn't go to the hospital it "couldn't have been that bad". I explained I had spent 4 hours in my car to prevent an ER trip and it was disgusting that she had said this. The following week she informed us that we could get a slightly higher amount in the form of a check. The following week Bree emailed me explaining she was misinformed and Gold Medal doesn't issue checks and she would call me when she had more information. I explained the only reason we agreed to the amount was because of the check and if we were unable to get it in as a check we would need to discuss the amount again. This entire situation was disgusting. Gold Medal, get your act together.
