We paid over 20k for a complete re-wire of our apartment, as required by the board. The job was done well, in a reasonable amount of time...But they left over 20 bags of debris in the apartment! Unbelievable. I called to ask about getting the debris removed, and Frank said that they do not remove debris! What contractor leaves all of their debris on the job-site? Extremely unprofessional. He did not even offer to remove the debris for an extra charge, he just said that they do not take away their garbage. I have hired many contractors and been hired as a contractor, and I can tell you that this is unheard of. Even the super could not believe that they refused to remove their debris. Maybe they would be OK for a small job, but I would never recommend them for any type of larger job. read more

The guys who swapped out the transformers in my ceiling fixture were prompt, efficient, professional and very friendly. Lovely work. The owner, on the other hand: * Forgot to write down my appointment, so it didn't get booked; I had to call in half an hour after the appointment to inquire where he was. * Aggressive and abrupt on the phone * Talked over me to the extent that I could barely ask the questions I needed answered, responded to questions with hostility * Did not give me an estimate (I didn't ask, as I had had identical work done by another company earlier in the year - more fool me for not asking, but he did not give me any information, which most companies do for your first visit.) So if you're going to use them, expect excellent work and nice service from the office staff, and try to avoid any interaction with Frank if you can. AND ASK FOR AN ESTIMATE. read more

We needed 3 recessed lighting fixtures replaced in our kitchen as they were the 25+ year old original fixtures and the sockets were shorting out regularly. I originally contacted Ceriello Electric, as they have done work for us in the past that we've been happy with, but through a series of mis-steps on their end that I won't go into, we ended up having to look for another electrician to help us out. I called Blaze Electric on Tuesday (I saw mention of Blaze in a previous forum post here) and left a message, and got a prompt call back from Frank Caparale, who I subsequently learned is the owner. He came out himself on Wed to take a look at what we had (they are odd-sized Atlite cans and we didn't want to re-sheetrock the whole ceiling for this - we were hoping for drop-in replacements) and give us a quote. A few hours after he left, he called me to say he could get the correct housings that would work with the existing holes and ring brackets and could install them on Thursday. At 8:30am Thursday, one of his guys (I believe his name was Keyshawn) arrived and promptly replaced our old lights, so that I wouldn't have to cook in the dark anymore :) The job took about 90 minutes, he was polite and efficient and most importantly, he cleaned up after himself, sweeping the kitchen floor, gathering all the boxes and old fixtures to be put out in the compactor room, etc. Total cost, including the housings/baffles, labor and even the new floodlight bulbs (he advised R40s instead of of the R30s we had been using) came to $300 even, which is exactly the price I was quoted on Wed. My kitchen isn't dark anymore! Although this was a small job and maybe not the best job to rate an electrician on, I have to say that I was impressed enough with Frank's responsiveness and his worker's professionalism, and I wouldn't hesitate to call Blaze again in the future, for jobs big or small. Do not work with Blaze. Find another electrician, I promise you'll regret working with these folks. I hired them to do over $4,000 worth of electrical work and the results were sloppy -- not to mention their business is unprofessional. Amongst many issues including a circuit breaker that is not flush against the wall, I had a ceiling fan/light installed in my living room. After about a year the fan/light working fine, the light started to shut off automatically. I called Blaze to fix the issue and instead of offering his service he said "this is not my problem" and hung up the phone on me. I concur with all of the prior reviews which gave them zero stars as they were right on point. I contacted the owner "Frank" to inquire about the installation of a ceiling fan. He was unexpectedly rude and disrespectful. When I informed him that the installation was going to be conducted in the home of a severely immuno-compromised, disabled individual requiring a fully vaccinated, licensed electrician, he accused me of wasting his time! Furthermore, he curtly informed me that he was too busy to take on this job and was clearly uninterested in discussing it further. It turned out that a neutral wire inside the circuit breaker had blown. A half an hour from their arrival everything was fixed and they were gone. Terrific. I called last night at 6pm, hoping (but not expecting) to reach someone. Even though this was a non-urgent call, Frank was able to set up the visit for the following afternoon -- and this morning, they called and said that they could come by at 10:00am if I was available. Even better! I'd hung a fan myself but it didn't work. When I looked back in the switch box, I saw something unusual that made me want to bring in a professional. The electrician who arrived was friendly, and he nicely showed me what I'd done wrong (a wire had come loose, but he showed me how I could have prevented it), explained what was going on in the switch box that had concerned me, and fixed the installation in minutes. He then hung a second fan in another bedroom: again, quickly, simply, and effectively. I don't like paying for services like this, because I think I should be able to do it myself. If all trades experiences went like this, though, I 'd probably lose that dumb attitude. This was fast, fairly priced, pleasant, and it solved my problem. What's not to like? I see that some others have had bad experiences with this company, so maybe results are erratic. In fact, if I'd checked Yelp first, I might have picked someone else, but I'd seen good things posted about Blaze in two other places. Of course, my experience is subjective, just like everyone else's -- but in my case, the experience was very positive. Highly professional, reasonably priced, high quality work by honest, experienced electricians. For me, they swapped out our fuse box for a circuit breaker, converted a 220 V outlet to a 110 V, added three circuits with outlets, installed a light box and overhead lighting fixture, and moved another for us. All of this was done in 2 1/2 days with no complications. A dear friend of mine used them and noted that the work he needed done was done more cheaply than he thought would be needed and he is knowledgable about electrical work. The guys from Blaze electric came within hours of me reaching out about a shed I was building in my backyard. My wife is pregnant so I had to clear out my office for the babyroom, so I went ahead and built a shed in the backyard to make my office. I needed to run power to the shed and initially I thought I'd take a shortcut and just run an extension. But the outside outlet also powers my bedroom and if I would run an AC in there it could be problematic. So I decided to reach out to an electrician to get a second opinion. The guys from Blaze Electric came and instantly started working out some possible solutions. They gave me two different approaches and were very reasonable with my needs and budget. They came the following day to install, unfortunately I could not be there due to work, but when I returned my wife expressed how kind and considerate the workers were, they came and installed the line from my main panel and ran it through our closet, through our bedroom and out into our backyard out along my fence and into my shed. They did a great job and only broke holes in the wall where they needed to, to get the line through. I was very pleased with their work! Worst service ever. I called because my garage had a power outage. The electrician arrived and realized, without doing any physical work, that it was a ConEd issue. The electrician handed me a bill for $175.00. I asked, "What is this for?" He said, it's my fee for coming out.." I said, "WHAT!!" I called Blaze office around 11:15am 12/19/2020. I contacted Blaze Electric to request a quote for work required to install Wifi-enabled so-called "smart" dimmers. Specifically, I asked them how much it would cost to run a neutral wire to a light switch electrical box. The technician who returned my call was grumpy, rude, and unprofessional ("who told you you need that?"). When I told him that I needed a neutral wire in order to install a smart dimmer, he told me he wasn't interested in helping with that and hung up without giving me the chance to say anything further. read more

Cant give zero stars or would... First let me tell all those folks who gave good reviews, wish I could have warned ya first. Now what ya should do is go back and have all the work rechecked. TRUST me. Have the wire he used checked cause ill assure you they use the cheapest wire they can, and though they say everything is done within code, be careful, they were actually going to put one of my electrical panels IN A CLOSET, oh, and they were gonna use 3 wire vs 4 to have a ground...i was not changing an outlet, switch, fixture...I was putting new electrical panels up in my apts , cause there are none, running from the main panels im the basement....anyway... I called for an estimate and it seemed to be an annoyance when he did come I was sent a proposal, with the scope of the work but no description of type of material...here is the kicker, I always play dumb till i am ready to agree to the work, remember I said that... I Got the estimate, asked if i can have someone stop by and show me where the chanel work was going to be done from basement up to 3rd floor, again, annoying he was asked to send someone to show me (btw, I needed to know cause I am the one who has to get a contractor to repair the walls and ceiling where the chanel is going to be done which I knew as per the estimate) so that annoyed him, the tech came we discussed where it was going that was fine, oh yeah even though they were going to try and put the panel in a closet (within code huh????) A month later I called to redo the proposal cause I am adding now a panel in the 2nd floor as well, figured might as well (oh more buisness and money for them and again annoyed to do the new proposal) sent new proposal , a month or two later I called, and left a message and my words were "id like you to call me so we can schedule a start date" mind you start date nothing else. He finally called me back with an attitude and said "you want me to send someone there again for a 3rd time to look" i explained no I was calling to schedule a start date. Now remember play dumb till ready... this is where you learn about the BS if you know how things work..I asked a simple question, let me ask what type of wire are using (folks keep in mind there are different size wires and ya dont want certain wiring especially when going up 3 floors and adding a riser to possibly add more circuit breakers and amperage later on) anyway when I asked he, (he is Frank the owner) .he got pissed that I asked that question (why'd he get pissed? well usually people get mad cause they are "caught" in BS) SO his reply was are you kidding youre going to nitpick material are you serious, we do everything to code (so to code in the wire case is the cheapest size wire allowable not what I wanted, oops, sorry, caught you on your cheapinlg out on the customers work) than I asked how many breakers can the panel hold (again what happens if he gives me panel that only holds 8 breakers and later I wanted to add 10 more breakers) boy he really did not like these questions, one more, explanation as to why I am asking , well I want 8, 20 amp breakers and a panel that if i want to add more later I can, also want 4 wire to ground) MC 4/3 sized wire, whoooo this was not what he wanted to hear and tried to belittle me for questioing him on a $7200.00 job that involves electric in my house. Well, thats when I told him to F*** OFF, yeah I did. Than I emailed him the next day, explaining again why I asked the questions, explained I like to keep my money im spending with business in my neighborhood with people from my neighborhood and if hed answer these questions id still like to give him my business.... Well Frank emailed back he dont want to do the job (naturally cause he now knows he cannot get over and I'm gonna pay attention to the work)...NO problem. Moral of the story check your material he uses, check the codes for yourself, and learn a lil about the different material and options available to you before excepting a job especially from this character. Remember tradesman think we dont know anything so they can get over, learn the basics, ask friends who know, than spring it on them. My contractor, i told him when he did my basement, hallway and deck in the yard, after he gave me the price, I than told him I do not want any material from Home Depot. (Why? Cause its garbage, poor quality trust me) I want all my material from real lumber yards, real supply houses, and, want proof where it was bought. That throw a monkey wrench into his profit, and he was not happy, but, the work got done at the price, with the quality I expected when spending over 150k. Remember you're the customer these "professionals" are all over the place, there are plenty, get quotes, get prices, question, learn a little about what they are telling you, everything from scope of work to material being used, than question it agaim, don't be afraid, especially with these guys at Blaze Electric. read more

I called back to ask if he was interested in more work, and he tore me apart on the phone. I called Blaze when I thought I melted a circuit breaker at 4pm on a Saturday. Left a message with the service, and wasn't feeling too hopeful when Frank called me after maybe only ten minutes from leaving the message. The electrician showed up within an hour of my call. They charged $175 for a visit which I think is kinda high, but I was able to resolve the problem quickly which is what you want in the middle of Saturday chores. read more

Response time was good. Service was good. One major problem: The outlet they needed to access was behind the dryer, which they had to move. I could not move it by myself (it's a 2-person job - just lift the small dryer and move it aside to access the electrical box). Before they moved it, they advised it would cost $75 to take it down and put it back (as moving things was not in their contract). I understand it's not in the contract, but this seems like highway robbery. They got more money because I didn't want to deal with fighting it, but a reputable business would have not charged this amount. Like everyone else, I work for a living. I'm in the military and have a baby on the way. We need money and BLAZE Electric thought it was worth taking $75 from me to move a dryer and put it back. The whole thing took 10 seconds. Seems like a poor way to run the business. I should add, this was not the technicians' decision - this came from the main office (as I overheard them on the phone with their boss). Again, the service was good otherwise. I just think they take advantage of the situation in a dishonorable way. For this, the management at Blaze should be ashamed. read more

these people are scammers. do not use them. they sent one guy to assess the work, called the owner to tell him the job would take 4-5 hrs. Frank, the owner gave a price of $800.00, to which i agreed. the next day 2 of his workers show up and tell me that the work will be done within the hour. when i called Blaze to speak with the owner to get a price adjustment, he offered$100, which i declined. $400/hr for his electricians, that is a ridiculous and a scam, on top of doing a shitty job. read more

The service guy came on time but was not able to solve the problem. Of course I still had to pay $150. I needed 4 fixtures installed throughout my apartment. I spoke to Frank Corporale, he quoted a flat rate price for all four fixtures no matter how long it took. When the electrician arrived I shared my concern about not getting any marks on the white fabric shades. He was organized and professional, and I was quite impressed how carefully he handled each fixture. I was almost embarrassed to have warned him about the shades. I dealt with Frank, the owner, for the most part and he was alway punctual, courteous and thoroughly explained the process. He took care of all of the permits and always kept me in the loop with what was happening with ConEd. His prices were very competitive and I was extremely happy with the end result. I used Blaze a few years ago to install some outside lights. Without a lot of detail, they got the job done. Where there were problems, they did the minimum necessary to get things together but didn't go out of their way to "do it right." I offered more to have them find the right parts but they weren't interested. I had the feeling there was no joy in a job well done for these guys. I gave these guys two stars because they did some of the work they were supposed to, but we struggled to get there. First, the receptionist can't access any information about ongoing jobs, and you have to wait for someone to call you back. If they decide you are worthy. They spec'd out a job for us and gave us a proposal, then arrived with the wrong intercom which they insisted on installing. It sounded worse than our previous 20-year old busted intercom. And they installed it sloppily, tearing up the wall in the vestibule to run new wires, not bothering to make sure the wire casings could fit back into the wall. I asked them to install a light for me in the bathroom, outside of the original proposal, for which they asked for $80 cash. That seemed excessive, but I wanted it to go away so I paid it. And gave them each a tip on top of it. When they had to come back to finish installing the light fixtures on the outside a few weeks later, and put in the intercom they had originally spec'd out, they asked us for more money under the pretense that this "new" intercom was more expensive. More aggravation and negotiation. I treated these guys right and all Steve did the entire time he was working was try and extort money from me, all the while claiming: "don't worry, you can afford it." Which is based on what? What ever you do DO NOT hire Blaze Electric for any work in your homes. They are the biggest rip off artist I have ever come across. We have been through enough after Sandy without having to be scammed. They charged $668 for changing 12 light bulbs, 1 small light switch and 4 ballast. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS. The guy they sent was rude and nasty when I asked him "Why is the light still making the exact same noise it was making before you changed the switch?" His reply was "Don't supervise my work. If you don't like it I can leave the supplies and go." He was also supposed to change a timer on the hallway lights which was included in the price. He suddenly said he was done with the job. When I asked him about the timer he said "I don't know what's wrong with that thing, call someone else." This is no way to treat a customer. read more

My landlord called these guys who came to inspect why we were having issues with our electricity. The guys came and looked at our lamp and told us that the lamp had old wiring and a short in it and that's why it was cutting in and out, not flickering, but cutting out for a minute and then back on for 5 then back out... The lamp was recently rewired using fabric wrapped wiring, he assumed it was old wiring without actually looking at it which had my landlady wringing her hands in delight to somehow blame issues with our electricity on our lamp. It's almost laughable. He also said that the box that houses the light fixture on the ceiling in our bedroom was not up to code (actual old cloth wires). Since my landlady doesn't want to deal with having that repaired properly he omitted that from his service report. I called and spoke with Frank the owner who was so insanely smug and rude. He said that he couldn't help me figure out who came to my house to ask him what happened because it was too long ago (a week ago). It's just fishy that somehow an electrical issue that we're having throughout our entire apartment is because of our basic appliances and then the thing that my landlord is doing wrong isn't written on the service report and I can't get them to confirm that... They came out a few weeks before that and they said that we can't plug in our percolator and toaster at the same time and that's why the breaker was tripping. It just doesn't seem to make sense. Meanwhile my landlord said that the electric was updated. If I needed an electrician this wouldn't be the one that I used. read more
