    Mongolian Beef
    Rebecca O.

This location is one that I have been to several times over the years for birthdays and special locations. The food at this location is very fresh and the wait staff are very attentive - especially when it comes to allergies. They take the time to make sure that the food is prepared without exposure to the specific allergen. I love the Mongolian beef, but my personal favorite is the honey crispy chicken. The AC is pumping so make sure to bring a sweater if you tend to get cold at restaurants!

Mongolian beef was tasty but dry. Found a screw in the rice! Nearly broke a tooth. I'll stick with the hole in the wall Chinese restaurants nearby that are much less expensive.

Saturday night dinner, were seated promptly. When I called 45 minutes earlier to make a reservation, I was told it's walk-in only then when I was there, I was asked if I have reservation Reason for 2 star is manly food - no flavor what so ever. It was bland, had to add spicy sauce in every thing. Above all for some reason everything tasted the same. Presentation was great but food tasted average. Service and ambiance was great, no complaints.

    Tempura cauliflower

What a beautiful restaurant. Lots of parking at mid day. A really pleasant manager on site. Very knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff. I ordered the tempura cauliflower with sauce on the side. It was crunchy and delicious. I ordered vegetable fried rice with no soy sauce which was half-price on Wednesday. And I ordered some dry rub ribs. The ribs were not as I remember them. It seems a new hire in the kitchen chose to deep fry the ribs instead of slow brazing and then grilling the ribs for that succulent and moist rib meat. The manager worked it out with me very easily. Most importantly I got the ribs made the right way and they were amazing! I also enjoyed a decaffeinated ginger tea which my wait person put on ice for me. That was very refreshing. The ambience there is just gorgeous. And the seats were so comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless.

Consistent good food. Choices have been less since previous menus. Service is always friendly and attentive but atmosphere is a bit noisy.

I've also noticed that beef orders are touch and go, because the meat pieces tend to be rather tough. That said, I love the seasoning and saucing here. Tough meat aside, their beef and string bean meal has become one of my recent favorites. My husband raves about their spicy Chinese eggplant dishes, and he's been pretty happy about any chicken dish he's ordered. So many the golden rule is to stick with chicken over other proteins? Unlike other Chinese takeout spots in the area, they don't take delivery orders. Delivery orders can be fulfilled either through UberEats or through their website, which seems to outsource orders to another delivery service. I've used the nameless delivery service once and got the order just fine, but the ordering process is somewhat inflexible (e.g. my husband's favorite order from the lunch special menu isn't available as a standalone entree and there's no way to make those requests through the website, so we had to do a pickup order just so we could ask a person to make it happen). There are very few parking spots out front, so we've often had to double park when picking up orders, with one person waiting in the car while the other runs in to pay.

I don't like that they put lettuce in it. Didn't taste like cabbage to me. I ask for it without that usually. Decent though. One time I called and they were out of lo mein noodles! How does that even happen?! Egg Foo Young: this is actually pretty good from here. Greasy though. Pizza Egg Roll: I'm a fan of these from Kennedy Fried Chicken, but not a huge fan from here. Greasy and dare I say too much cheese? I'm a huge fan of cheese, but it was almost too much and not enough marinara inside the balance wasn't there. This is the only Chinese place in the area that has these. They also have Philly cheese steak rolls which I haven't tried yet (had them at a place in Teaneck though and they were so good!) Chicken wings: well seasoned, but WAY too greasy. Fries: again too greasy. Overall this place is "ok" but definitely not my favorite in Hackensack. Too greasy, but it is cheap.

We most recently came in on a Friday night with a 6 pm reservation. Yes, we had to flag down one of the harried but cheerful women working here to place our order. But look around - there's not a white tablecloth in sight. You may have to catch someone's eye, and there's nothing wrong with that. By 6:15 pm, half of our order was on the table, and we were gleefully chomping on fried dumplings and pillowy buns. The small but clean and modern space was packed - packed with people, but also with so much happiness. Almost everyone was smiling, laughing, and joking as they tucked into this feel-good array of comfort classics. Jajangmyun, jjampong, khan poong, gochu japchae... all of these traditional dishes sang. Even a simple plate of sauteed vegetables was delicious. And everything spent just seconds between being finished in the kitchen and sitting in front of us. Is it cheap? No, nor should it be. The ingredients are of the freshest, including the seafood. The cooking couldn't be better. And this is no grimy hole in the wall. If it were a French bistro, you'd have no problem with the prices. So pay these fine folks what they deserve, and enjoy.
