a model train on a table

First the food that I was served was ok a bit big for my liking but was the most scrumptious food that I have had in a while. The service was fast and we got our food in 20 minutes. There was a waiting line at the door at 10:00 in the morning. But this place is very popular so I don't mind it. The space within the restaurant is a bit small but is very nicely organized. The staff would put these things in the train probably to entertain the kids and it worked. The staff also put a bubble machine on the train and that was also cool. Would recommend this if you have time to wait for a seat.

Whether or not you have kids this place is a must when you come to Door Co. Although the bar seating would be best (so your food can be delivered on a large scale model train) there are tables in the next room that overlook the tavern area. If your kids have favorite (small) stuffed animals or other favorite small toys, bring them so they can ride the train and help deliver your food On a less enthusiastic note, i cannot recommenced the BBQ pork. It was fatty, chewy and not very tasty :-( But I have had their burgers in the past and those are usually great

As others have mentioned, great place to bring the kids. Who wouldn't want their meal delivered on a model train. Be forewarned space is confined when sitting within the train service area. The restaurant is a sandwich/burger kind of place. They make a solid sandwich that generally has good flavor. So much to see & do for the kids. They can ride the pedal carts, shoot hoops, play ping pong, play giant chess, check out the old school bus, see Rosie the pig and the list goes on. There is a winery across the street that the grown-ups can visit while the kids are occupied. Expect a loud atmosphere and quite a few people. Our kids ask/demand that this be one of our stops when in Door County.

Went there for the first time today, and got their special which was a bacon mushroom swiss burger, and it turned out really well. We weren't waiting too long on our food and it was really cool that they had a model train bring out the food. I've never seen that before, plus they have a little park in the back for people to hang out and the kids to blow off some energy. Its very cool, and I will definitely be going back!!

The parking lot was full so we parked on the street on the other side of the restaurant. Usually a good sign when a place is that busy, especially early in the evening. Since their patio was full we decided to order our meal to go and do some car side dining. We were told about 30 minutes. Also a very nice gesture by the staff that offered a glass of water while we waited. Before we knew it, our meals came out. The perch was perfect and there were so many pieces. Tender and flaky with a light and tasty breading. Homemade tartar sauce, coleslaw and potato salad that had some pickles in it. Fries were also crispy and hot. It seems like as we ate our fish, there were more pieces stacked below. Probably at least 6 pieces. Our meal also came with some rye bread with butter. We talked about how great this meal was for quite a while. Friday night fish fry is legendary in WI. This was a legendary meal!

Food is good, hours are wonky but we don't complain, ambiance is on the most beautiful place with fast efficient service. I remember as a kid the game room and bar that stuck out taking up the entire restaurant. Then our distant cousin bought it, reconstructed the inside and began selling pizza but closed then after and sold to someone who named it "the Tin plate" (didn't last long at all lol..) and now the current owners - which is a perfect fit. Always top tier service, so SO glad to see this place serve its intended purpose exactly how it's supposed to be

The restaurant marketed itself as an all-purpose stop for food, so we ordered the charbroiled chicken sandwich and reuben for lunch. The chicken was pretty dry with minimal toppings- definitely something you could make at home for a fraction of the price. The reuben was satisfying and not too heavy, with a generous portion of both beef and sauerkraut. We washed it down with the house-made root beer, which was very good. What you're really here for is the ice cream. Be sure to go to the counter inside, as only a fraction of the menu was advertised in the seating area. There were countless creative flavors with all the toppings you could think of. After a lot of deliberation, we opted for a scoop of the frozen tundra, which was a mint ice cream filled with Oreo and brownie chunks. Just a single scoop was massive and definitely enough for two people as a dessert. The mint was delicate and super refreshing, and was absolutely packed with giant chunks of chocolatey goodness. Definitely a 10/10 and a must-try! Although I would skip the food next time, the sweet treats at Wilson's are well worth a trip out of the way. Will absolutely be back for more of that ice cream!

The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We ordered three dishes: the Norwegian herb-encrusted salmon over grilled root vegetables and quinoa, a New Orleans pasta with chicken, and a pistachio chicken open sandwich. Each one delivered. The salmon dish stood out for its char on the root vegetables and the quinoa, which had real texture and flavor. The dressing brought everything together in a way that felt considered, not just functional. The pistachio chicken sandwich was the sleeper hit. The chicken itself was exceptional, and it came paired with kettle chips that were better than any side chips have a right to be. The view of the water made the whole meal feel unhurried and easy, the kind of setting that makes food taste even better. Great food, attentive service, and a view that earns its mention. A complete experience.

The guacamole and dill dressing gave it a really nice flavor. My wife was happy with her Asparagus Quesadilla, it was full of flame roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, asparagus, corn, black beans, wild rice, farmers cheese & spinach. We wanted a quick snack while driving from the UP to Green Bay and came upon The Dairy Barn. As we…read moredrove in, we thought the place was inside of the nearby gas station, but we quickly found that it was a separate building with quite a number of cars and customers surrounding it. There was a nearby setup of picnic tables and all seats were taken, with people eating burgers, custard, and other treats. To order, there's a choice of either a drive through, or you can queue up at one of the windows in front. We just wanted a small snack and ordered two items. Service is quite quick; everything only took a couple of minutes to come out. Extra Small Pistachio Frozen Custard ($2) - This was the weekly special and we got the very last dregs in the frozen custard machine. We saw the employee using a spatula on the top of the machine to push through the rest of the custard. As such, we're not sure if the custard was the freshest and best churned or not. The sweetness of the custard, mint green in color, first comes through, followed by a bit of artificial pistachio flavoring. The strange thing is that we had pistachio frozen custard from another place the previous day and this tasted exactly the same. I wonder if everyone just uses the same commercial pistachio custard base and churns it differently? This particular one is quite smooth and creamy, but also a bit on the softer side and less dense than other frozen custard I've had. I can't complain when this is only $2 though. (4/5) Fried Cheese Curds ($4) - I read about the curds here on social media and I have to agree that these are quite good. The batter on the exterior is pretty thick and fried to a fantastic crisp. The interior is stretchy, milky, squeaky as they stick to the teeth and have a more firm chew. The exterior batter has quite a bit of salt added after it comes out of the fryer, making this a treat that almost begs for custard or some other sweet beverage/treat on the side. (4/5) I'm not sure there is anything that they actually make in house, but hey, the prices are so cheap and they execute everything well enough that it makes me not care. I wouldn't make The Dairy Barn a destination for food or anything, but it's a solid place to visit while you're on the road. Note that they change the special custard flavor every week starting on Wednesday until they run out, so if you insist on the special flavor don't wait until Tuesday! Bathrooms - One single unisex room located on the right side of the exterior of the building. Overall rating of the food this visit: 4/5
