a model train on a table

First the food that I was served was ok a bit big for my liking but was the most scrumptious food that I have had in a while. The service was fast and we got our food in 20 minutes. There was a waiting line at the door at 10:00 in the morning. But this place is very popular so I don't mind it. The space within the restaurant is a bit small but is very nicely organized. The staff would put these things in the train probably to entertain the kids and it worked. The staff also put a bubble machine on the train and that was also cool. Would recommend this if you have time to wait for a seat.

Whether or not you have kids this place is a must when you come to Door Co. Although the bar seating would be best (so your food can be delivered on a large scale model train) there are tables in the next room that overlook the tavern area. If your kids have favorite (small) stuffed animals or other favorite small toys, bring them so they can ride the train and help deliver your food On a less enthusiastic note, i cannot recommenced the BBQ pork. It was fatty, chewy and not very tasty :-( But I have had their burgers in the past and those are usually great

As others have mentioned, great place to bring the kids. Who wouldn't want their meal delivered on a model train. Be forewarned space is confined when sitting within the train service area. The restaurant is a sandwich/burger kind of place. They make a solid sandwich that generally has good flavor. So much to see & do for the kids. They can ride the pedal carts, shoot hoops, play ping pong, play giant chess, check out the old school bus, see Rosie the pig and the list goes on. There is a winery across the street that the grown-ups can visit while the kids are occupied. Expect a loud atmosphere and quite a few people. Our kids ask/demand that this be one of our stops when in Door County.

Went there for the first time today, and got their special which was a bacon mushroom swiss burger, and it turned out really well. We weren't waiting too long on our food and it was really cool that they had a model train bring out the food. I've never seen that before, plus they have a little park in the back for people to hang out and the kids to blow off some energy. Its very cool, and I will definitely be going back!!

It's a very relaxed vibe and nice and helpful service but the food is maybe surprisingly some of best casual dining I've had on the peninsula. It's the definitive Door County spot for ribs, they are excellent here. With an awesome BBQ sauce that's featured in a few other dishes too. Everything we've tried here has been delicious! The chicken sandwiches feature a large and juicy cut of flavorful chicken and the chicken strips do too! The fried shrimp is excellent and filling too, we've never been disappointed here.

I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, my husband ordered the Whitefish Tacos, and my friend ordered two appetizers as her meal--the guac and the ceviche. She also ordered a cocktail--I think the margarita (I remember she said she wanted salt). My husband liked his tacos quite a bit, but one odd thing is that the lunches come with either fries or watermelon. As he isn't a watermelon fan, he got the fries, which is the odd thing is having fries with tacos. But as someone who is really picky about her fries, these were very good--fresh and hot. The Ahi Tacos were also very good. For $20, I would've like maybe more than two tacos, but since I ate a lot of his fries, I wasn't starving. And I do realize food prices have not been going down... My friend's guac was fine, but her ceviche was not ceviche. The first time it came out, it was green--it looked exactly like the guac, so she sent it back, explaining that one should be able to see the fish and it shouldn't be green (and she tasted it--whatever it was, it was not ceviche). The second time, it was certainly fish, but it was more like a fish salad, but it did not have the acid in it that one expects in ceviche, as that is what "cooks" the fish. She said it tasted it fine, but just not--yeah, I've said this a bunch--ceviche. Oh, and her cocktail was fine. We will definitely go back next time we're up that way. On a sunny day, it would be gorgeous. Our day was a bit iffy, and we were lucky--we got our bill just as it began to rain, so we were able to duck under the covered bar to settle up, have a brief convo with the bartender, and went downstairs to the Chocolate Chicken to get a piece of chocolate (my husband's and friend's chocolate was fine--I'm a pain in the neck, and I wanted darker chocolate with more pecans!) and wait out the rain.

Sooo... I really wanted to love this place…read more We made a day trip to Door County and had a long list of restaurants to choose from. After reading countless reviews, we picked this one as our #1 dinner choice because it seemed to have great vibes and a beautiful outdoor garden overlooking Lake Michigan. The setting absolutely lived up to the hype, and that alone earns it a star. We arrived a little early for our reservation and decided to grab a drink at the bar. My mom simply asked if they had any watermelon or pineapple seltzers, and instead of answering, the bartender just handed her a drink menu and walked away. It was a small interaction, but it came across as dismissive, so we decided not to order drinks. We were seated shortly after in a wonderful spot in the garden. We had our dog with us, and it was the perfect outdoor setting for her to relax while we enjoyed dinner. Our server was pleasant, but she didn't seem very attentive or able to read the table. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were delicious and probably the highlight of the meal. We know this restaurant is especially known for its whitefish and lobster boil. After tasting our meals, my mother said she wished she had ordered the whitefish since we'd heard such amazing things about it. Unfortunately, when it became obvious that we weren't enjoying our food, our server never asked if something was wrong or if we'd like to try something else. The crab Rangoon dip was just okay. The lobster bisque was completely flavorless--the worst lobster bisque I've ever had, and I order it whenever it's on a menu. The sage butter gnocchi was equally bland and lacked any real flavor. My mom ordered the ribeye, and she said it tasted more like a sirloin and was totally overcooked. It lacked the rich flavor you'd expect from a ribeye and had quite a bit of fat. She only ate a few bites before giving most of it to the dog. The vegetables (I believe asparagus or broccolini) weren't good, and the au gratin potatoes were equally disappointing. The only real win was my son's chicken tenders. He's an extremely picky eater, and he genuinely enjoyed them. What disappointed us most was how the situation was handled. When our server checked back, she asked how everything was, and we replied, "It's alright." Later, when she saw that our plates were still mostly full and asked if we wanted boxes, we said no. That would have been the perfect opportunity to ask if something was wrong or if there was anything they could do. Instead, the conversation ended there and the check was placed on the table. At that point, we just wanted to leave. Between the underwhelming service, the bland food, and the high prices, the experience simply wasn't worth it. We left feeling incredibly disappointed, annoyed and hungry. It's unfortunate because the location and atmosphere are beautiful, and we truly wanted this restaurant to be a highlight of our trip. Sadly, if we make it back to Baileys Harbor, we won't be returning.
