Ozo has great coffee. Ozo has a wonderful staff who are friendly and helpful. Why the less than stellar review? This place isn't really a coffee shop, it's a co-working office. Everytime I've come here, every table is taken by someone with a laptop. The turnover at tables is really slow, so if one plans on meeting another person for a chat, it won't happen inside. I've come here for my last time, it's enough of a pain to drive across Boulder only to find no place to sit. read more

The drip coffee is quite good, very strong and very hot. My cinnamon roll was OK, a bit dry, but met my sugar cravings at 7am. There were a couple of people working, but only one register open, so service was slow. Which, when racing to get to work by 7am, is a deterrent to me returning. Just keep that in mind, this is not a quick in-and-out kinda spot. $5+ for a drip coffe & a cinnamon roll seems a bit steep to me, as well. read more

This is my go to place in Boulder for a quick coffee or a bite to eat. This place is jam-packed almost always! Great coffee, great service, great selection of food, snacks and chocolate. Being in Boulder most places just have 1 chai, this place has 2 chai selections and also various tea selections! If you get a $30 gc you can a free drink of your choice any size! The only thing is that if you don't tell them, they make the drink super HOT! I like mine at 150-160 degrees and I have to ask for tepid in order to drink it right away. Now if you are just picking it up and driving to work, you might want it that hot so it will last. I really like how they heat up their breakfast burritos, looks like a panini grill. At first I thought it's for convenience but I love the texture and the crunch of the shell. It takes 7 mins so if you are in a rush don't get the burritos. Oh boy, they have spicy bacon!!! Yum nom nom nom! If I ever open up a coffee shop, it would be model like this w free wifi and more of a community feel. Ozo is a good small coffee chain with a handful of locations around Boulder. It's a good place to grab a quick coffee or espresso drink, or snack on some coffeeshop style grub. Typically a noisy environment that's not conductive to those who prefer a quieter coffeeshop to get some work done, but if you can handle the noise then this is your spot. read more

I made a point to visit Ozo after seeing many positive reviews via Yelp. I was happy with the quality, personable, quick service. The barista was sweet and helpful in recommending a drink. I was however; a bit disappointed with my order though. It was far too overpriced for just the small, espresso size portion that I received. I followed the barista's rec and ordered the house honey latte drink which was really just like a normal latte with honey squirted in. Not as special as I anticipated, but I will probably return and try another order. Good atmosphere for visiting with a friend or getting a bit of reading/studying done. read more

Ozo is a great place for a variety of things. You can stop in and grab a cup of coffee, order ahead and get a latte to go, settle in and get some work done (free WiFi, just ask for the password!) or even get some lunch. The baristas are very friendly and helpful. I haven't had their food aside from banana nut bread (which is awesome btw), but I know they offer soup and I think they do sandwiches too! I try to get my coffee from Ozo instead of Starbucks/big companies simply because I like to support small businesses, which is great because Ozo has multiple locations and lots of other restaurants carry their coffee too. So thankful that my office is close to Ozo. If terrific coffee with great friendly service wasn't so close to my place of employment, I may not be employable. Coffee is strong and will wake you right up. The chai's are perfectly spicy. The cholaca is so soul pleasing and delicious that it may have saved some co-workers from the verbal lashings they deserve. If you like a rich, robust, chocolatey coffee, the Ozo house blend is superb. Don't be persuaded to try another blend, as none of their other blends compare to the house beans. If they don't have the house blend as their drip for the day (which has happened to me multiple times), they can make a special cup for like $3.50. It's completely worth the extra $1 to get the Ozo house blend, no matter what the baristas say or recommend. The baristas are friendly and make amazing drinks, whatever your preference. And yes, the pastries here are mediocre at best... It has to do with the texture, it must be that they are stored in Tupperware and neither the Tupperware or the pastry case is dehumidified. If you get a pastry, get it warmed to fix the texture, or get a cookie or a bar, as they are delicious. The coffee is the spotlight here. I think it's better than Blue Bottle, and almost any other coffee I've ever tried. read more

Their pour over was life changing for my husband! It's his favorite coffee spot! Whenever we are in Boulder that's our first stop.

I was so disappointed! I wanted a cup of coffee fast, and I asked for it on a little ice to cool it down (so i can drink it quickly). The barista informed me that he had a "personal thing" about "watering down coffee." It took a little back and forth until he said he would add some ice cubes "but just for me, because I don't water down coffee." I like coffee. I need coffee. I am not a snob. If i want an ice cube or two in my coffee, it's really no sweat off his back. If he doesn't like a couple ice cubes in his coffee, then when he drinks coffee, he shouldn't add any. I was caught off-guard when he was critical of my drink- does he do the same to customers who want extra creamer? I'll be going to other places where they don't judge me by what i put in my coffee. read more

In the years since I lived in Boulder, a new challenger appeared to dominate the coffee scene. Welcome, Ozo. Nice work. I made two visits to Ozo during my week's visit back to the old stomping grounds. The first was for a basic cup of house blend drip coffee. That's my staple and I figure that any coffee shop worth their salt should be able to nail that one. They did. The drink featured complex and nuanced flavors that are the signature of roaster who loves coffee. The second trip was for a latte which was both delicious and presented well enough to be photographed. I picked up a pound of El Salvadorian beans to brew at home, a cup of which I am enjoying right now. In typical coffee shop fashion, Ozo's shop features plenty of room to come and socialize, study, or work. I have attempted drinking coffee here about four times now, not of my own volition, but with friends who were heading this way. The baristas were kind. However, I literally threw out every drink I have had there. The coffee is unacceptable. I had a few friends taste my drink and each of them cited the word "gasoline." It honestly tasted like diesel fuel would taste. I was grievously disappointed in the coffee here, as I had heard about the fastidiousness of the roasting process, etc. No. Awful. Seriously awful. I used to be a coffee hound, but after visiting Switzerland and tasting exceptionally good espresso drinks, I lost my taste for the stuff you get in the states. A friend kept swearing that Ozo was good, so I tried it, an he's right: Ozo is good. Not just good, though, it's GOOD. This is what espresso drinks are supposed to taste like. I now frequent Ozo a couple times a week, and they've never let me down. I usually get a small latte, and the barista always does some funky pattern with the foam, often artistic enough to elicit compliments from people standing nearby. Order a drink "for here" and they put it in a ceramic cup, the way a good drink is meant to be enjoyed. But the key thing is: the drinks are just damn good. The espresso taste is rich but not bitter. It's the kind of taste I crave the next day. The aroma is perfect. I've tried various pastry goodies and they're tasty, too. Ozo tends to be crowded on weekdays, must be people slacking (I'm sorry, "working remote") like me. The staff is friendly and hip. I'm not sure about wifi, they've probably got it based on the number of laptops I see. (When I'm at Ozo I'm trying to escape from my computer.) Great place to meet a friend and chat. read more

Fastidious attention to detail in roasting their own beans, and in preparing a wide variety of barista beverages. The staff includes the champion barista in the Rocky Mountain region (yes, they do have official regional and national comptetitions). I've always been quite pleased with their rendering of espresso drinks. I've been thoroughly impressed by the custom roasts that I've brought home for my own brewing. They have a habit of hunting down rare micro-lots, which they roast with the utmost care to bring out the unique qualities of the bean. The most delicious so far was a Brazilian micro-climate peaberry roast (I apologize that I can't recall the name). The shop provides a comfortable setting for relaxing with your beverage or "setting up office." The music is varied and always interesting (chosen by the employees) but never overpowering. I enjoy the rotating selection of local art on display. The only downside is their early closing hours (6-ish), but given the location it probably makes financial sense for them. read more

I found this place comfortable and inviting to a less experienced coffee drinker like myself, and have quickly accumulated a few favorites from their menu. All of the staff I've encountered are friendly and are quick with the orders during their rush hours. My favorite drink is the Mayan. I love the heat of the chilies, dark chocolate and cinnamon. There are many good coffee shops in Boulder. I would put OZO in the top tier. If you are looking for good espresso, a pour over brew, pastry, or some variety of whole beans, OZO has a great selection. I always tend to be drawn to shops that offer alternate brewing methods. Gives the ability to try new beans before buying. Another plus is that OZO has a good selection on home brew accessories. Being that I tend to home brew by pour over or Aeropress, I always can pick up anything needed here. Beans and consumables. Great selection on Hario products. I will say OZO is big and tends to be crowded. Sometimes it's hard for me to find a table which does drive me to frequent other shops, which I won't name in this review. But if you are looking to pick something up and take it to go this is a great place. And if you get there at the right time it is a great place to get work done. read more

There coffee is good, but one negative customer service experience here ruined it for me. One day I went in to get coffee, and encountered the rudest barista. When it was my turn to step up to the counter, she just stared at me, seething with what appeared to be a bad attitude and resentment. I decided to tell her my order, even though she was still glaring at me, and did not even say, "hello" or, "what can I get you today?" It was a really odd and bizarre experience, I almost wished I had got it on video, it was that bizarre. I was not rude back to her in anyway, just completely shocked. To put things in perspective: I used to spend around $50 a month at Ozo's, and after this experience with that unkind barista, I do not feel inspired to return. So that barista - and her bad attitude - did cost you guys some loss in business. This could have totally been avoided if she had just infused the interaction with a basic sense of human decency. read more

Great coffee, great space, free wifi. the CC limit is sort've a pain, but if you're a regular, they'll let you charge tomorrow's drink and pick it up the next day. Sometimes the music is a little loud (and right now it's a little too fiddle-tastic or my studying habits) and they have ALMOST enough outlets for everyone to plug in their laptops. It's also off the beaten path for most of the students in town, so I never have a problem with people discussing their weekend exploits while I'm trying to get my learn on. It's a great space, right next to Snarf's (so I can stick around for hours and remain nourished), great staff, etc etc. But seriously, this fiddle crap has got to go. The fact that this Ozo location is less than a quarter of a mile from my work is seriously dangerous for both my wallet and my sleep patterns (evening coffee is not good for me, not matter how much I love it!). I'm generally really good about saving some cash by making coffee at home, but being new to Colorado, when it's freezing and snowy and gross all I want is a delicious latte and Ozo is IT. I've been in 3 times in the last week, different times of the day every time and I've had consistently delightful lattes, friendly service and the space is never over crowded. I really need to work on weaning myself off my new latte addiction so I'll probably grab some beans next time to coax myself back into my budget friendly home brewing, but for a treat Ozo is lovely. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that this place makes some of the best espresso drinks in Boulder. They are super passionate here and love to learn about coffee. The baristas are super talented. They roast their own beans which really is a testament to their dedication. Its just that I disagree about their philosophy... I feel like they over-roast in general. Don't get me wrong, they taught me a lot about roasting and some of their blends are awesome ( like one of their espresso blends I cupped I forgot the name of it). I just think they (like 97% of coffee joints out there) need to put more emphasis on bringing out the most unique flavors in each lot of coffee they purchase rather than making each lot conform to the typically dark chocolate flavors that everyone is accustomed to. I usually find coffee house coffee disappointing and overpriced, but I really needed an emergency pick-me up, and stopped at the Ozo coffee on Arapahoe in Boulder. When I opened the door, the place was packed, and it looked like there were about thirty people in line. I almost turned around and left, but then the delicious aroma hit me. I thought, perhaps, maybe there might be a reason for the crowd, and intrigued decided to go ahead and see. To my surprise, I was at the front of the line in just a couple of minutes. The staff were incredibly efficient, as well as friendly. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how reasonable and low the prices were. I placed my order, for a cafe Florentine, which I've never tried before, and a "whatever kind of bagel," and watched as the baristas created drinks for everyone - and it was kind of a show. Definitely kudos for presentation here, both in the appearance of the drinks and the preparation. A couple of minutes later, I was walking out the door with one of the best five or six cups of coffee I've ever had. I mean, truly superb (the bagel was very good too, though a little more toasted than I like). I would say the coffee itself was on par with my old favorite from out West, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, but the atmosphere felt distinctly less chain-like (though it is a small chain). I will definitely be visiting again and again. I highly recommend Ozo. Excellent prices, great staff, fun watching, and really, really, really good coffee made by expert baristas. read more
