Stopped at Ozeki for a quick lunch inside the car during covid times, and their food was so good! We ordered the yakisoba lunch special with shrimp, the Oyako don, and the spicy tuna roll. The portion sizes were fair for the price, and you couldn't beat that authentic Japanese taste and flavor. Highly recommend this place, and will be back if I ever find myself in the area again! read more

As a frequent traveler to Oxnard I have eaten as this location numerous times. It is fairly close to the hotel we usually stay at so that makes it convenient. The inside is small with only 8-10 4 person tables. The service has always been good and friendly. The keep the place very clean regardless of what time of day we have come in. The food is pretty good but of course this is not high end Japanese food. It isn't per say fast food but I would equate it to somewhere in the middle. The price reflects that fact so it is a good buy for what you get. I have had everything from sushi, ramen, rice, noodle bowls and yakisoba. Everything I had was good and they have never let me down. The wife really enjoys their food and always request we eat with them at least one time if we are in town. I would recommend them for lunch and or dinner as I have done both. We have eaten in and taken out and both were the same quality. If in the area give them a try. Looking forward ot the next visit when I am back in Camarillo. read more

Some people on this site need to check themselves. What, you think we shouldn't have Japanese food in Oxnard? Pull your snobby ass head out of your shiny white hole unless you like the smell in there that much, ya racist. Huh. I like Ozeki's. It may not be up to certain other yelpers ulta-snotty standards, but I think it's not bad. And if you've read my other reviews, you know I'm pretty picky. The food is always fresh in my experience. I have had the salmon teriyaki bento and the spicy pork bowl, and I've ordered the tempura a few times (it's always freshly battered and really good) and also several different sushi pieces. Is it the best sushi I've ever had? no, but it's pretty good, enough that I've ordered it again. Plus the staff is great, always friendly and they always accomodate my special requests. I hate california rolls and they always, always let me substitute something else for the ca rolls in my bento box. You also can't beat their prices. $8 for a lunch special and you get alot of food, and dinner is only like $2 more. This is a very clean, hole in the wall spot in a shopping center. Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance...though I've heard good things from a very reputable source about this place, my guard was up at first, but when the food came, I was more than impressed. The menu has a wide variety of Japanese fare, and their beer/sake list is pretty good as well. I feel bad for my takoyaki loving lad, because no one wanted to share with him, and it seemed he can't down a whole plate on his own. But it sounds good in theory. I have yet to try their maki rolls here, but I had a nice, large bowl of soup. It wasn't burn my tongue hot as I would have expected, and though I was persuaded to send it back, I was in "I WANT TO EAT NOW" mode (famous for eating microwave burritos with the middle still cold), and thought the lukewarm temp was perfect for downing it faster. I had the kitsune soba, which had beancurd triangles in it, I guess to resemble fox ears? I don't know, it was good, and I threw my unwanted fishcakes to the penguin sitting next to me. Ozeki Noodle was a warm welcome for me in a place where there isn't really an authentic chinese restaurant for an hour's drive. The soba is delicious... I usually get the udon and the bf usually gets soba. Udon there is chewy in just the right way. The broth isn't too salty, and it's just a wonderful reminder of authentic asian cuisine. Great good at a great price! I ordered the Japanese pork cutlet box with cutlet, rice, salad, dumplings, and California rolls. I also got to try their udon which was very good noodle and good soup. The miso was sparse with tofu, but the rest of the box was tasty and filling. Its a good crowded place with lots of customers, good service and great food. Save yourself the disappointment. My first red flag should have been when one of the previous reviews regarded Ozeki as "the best local Japanese." Good food at a reasonable price, a offshoot of Ozeki Sushi. I usually get the Katsu Don-A breaded pork cutlet dipped in egg served over rice and onions. I have this dish at other Japanese restaurants and there version rate with the best of them. Shrimp tempura hand roll with soy paper are just OK. Back in the day when the Esplanade had just converted into a strip mall, Shoe Pavilion was on the map. I use to work in that store and for my lunch breaks I would always head up to the restaurants. I always saw Ozeki Noodle there, always meant to go and try it but I never did. Forward 8 years later and I finally gathered a couple of my coworkers to come with me. One of them was craving sushi for lunch and I was just craving to go and try this restaurant so we decided to dive (I have to add that it was hot today in Oxnard). We got there, we saw the menu we decided. I ordered the lunch combination that included noodles and rice bowl with beef. For appetizers we split a sushi roll. I must say I was pleased to finally find a Japanese restaurant that finally did not just serve sushi. This restaurant has other options that makes you realize that Japanese cuisine is more than sushi. They had a selection of different noodles along with a selection of rice (would you look at that). Their beef was caramelized with onion, my mouth and tummy love it. Good experience. Staff was awesome, Day was hot (and I ordered soup, so I was sweating) Over all, very impress, in my own bias opinion, one of the better Japanese restaurants I've been to in Ventura County. There are several great dishes: Soba and tempura combo Udon Noodle and Beef or Chicken Bowl Soba noodle salads Tofu salad is good for summer time. This place even has takoyaki. Just like the name...this place has great udon! I love their udon here; especially the seafood udon. There's a really good deal for udon and a bowl of teriyaki. It's so much food! For the amount of food you get, the price is great. I haven't tried anything else here except udon. The food comes out pretty fast. At my first visit.... I had the Special Yakisoba for me and plain udon for the kids. Last night, I had the plain udon with broth, the BBQ beef over rice, and the Special Yakisoba with chicken. I got a migraine headache within the hour after eating dinner. I don't recall getting it the last time I ate here but I did last night. I was knocked out for 12 hours after taking migraine medicine. First time and not impressed with the environment very plane jane and eery. It kinda of reminded me of a hospital cafeteria. The food was whatever. Had better. Heard their ramen is good but the waitress forgot mine so wouldn't know. The crunch roll was odd for flavor and not a big fan for the miso soup or edamame. The restaurant was really nice inside. There's a super-home feel vibe in the small restaurant. I've honestly gone by this place dozens of time and avoided eating there but I swear I'll stop. The people there are really friendly and its nice that you have a view of the small kitchen prep area from the register. Generally having someone cook for you is taken for granted but this was an honest humbling experience. All I ate was a small chicken bowl and it was really yummy. My 4.50 also got me some warm miso soup on the side as well. The chicken was grilled nicely and the rice was nice and sticky....the way rice should be! hehe I'd eat here again. I used to come here when I worked in the same area many eons ago, and this evening I had the most random craving for Ozeki Noodle. I came in and was immediately greeted with a smile and welcoming front of house/back of house restaurant fusion. I have worked in the restaurant and bar industry for over a decade now and I absolutely hate yelp (no offense yelp, you do help me with the "open now" filter after the bars close). Anyways, I have the day off of any professional agenda per usual, so I moseyed in wearing a cut off, Reddit infused post cyber goth, pre sea punk muscle tee and high wasted jeans that have been treated as if they have been tossed around relentlessly though-out money-grubbing foster care homes, as well as a slicked back Mohawk. I'm a nice, personable guy but I get treated like a thieving, tax rapist at a lot of places if I'm not dappered out... Anyways! I came in to put a Togo order in and the lovely (sorry if I misnamed you) Ericka San was a refreshing, lovely, and positive energy exhuming human that was eager to help and make me feel comfortable. Which is rare when you're putting in a Togo order. I ordered the hot udon which contained basically a combination of all the other ones, and I asked for something to drink while I wait since I was finished with all of my errands for the day. I told her I fancied dry sake, the drier the better, and her beverage knowledge was top tier, like #1 test taker of the SATS during my high school stint. I trusted her judgement and was more than impressed. I would have ordered another but I was taking my food Togo. They hooked it up with a bountiful supply of edamame, all the Togo items I could have asked for and even more. I love this place and the owners/servers/chefs are all people I would love to be my family or at least friends. If you haven't been here in awhile check it out again. For some random craving, turned into a beautiful customer service experience, to make me post a review on yelp after years of yelp neglect, you can trust me that you need to come into this hidden diamond in the rough. My daughter and I come here often after she is done skating at the Channel Islands Ice Center. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean. Best part is the food. Great Udon, Yaki Soba with beef, Bento Boxes. Food is always really good! Also, love the fact that this seems to be the "go to" place for Japanese natives. There are always native Japanese folks in the restaurant so I have to believe Ozeki's food is pretty darn authentic, in my humble opinion. Quite a gem in the heart of Oxnard. This is an excellent place for Udon and Soba noodles as well as Japanese food in general. The cold udon or soba is great on warm days and the hot udon or soba on cool days! The noodles is what makes Ozeki Noodle special. It's fresh, clean, and delicious. I also have the tempura, which is light and crispy. Also the side dishes are nice. I decided to accompany my mom for a day of jury duty. After a whole morning wasted of just waiting, we decided to try out Ozeki for lunch. Not even after 10 minutes of sitting down, the place was soon crackalackin' It's not the best tasting Japanese food I've had, but the price was fair. I ordered the tempura shrimp roll, which was packed more with artificial crab and rice than actual shrimp tempura. My mom ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box that came with 4 california's, heap of salad, and 2 gyoza's. My wife likes this place for the noodles and many other things on the menu, but man... My meal wasn't that great. Sushi was thinned out, soy sauce nearly burned my tongue off with how salty it was, and the California roll was stale and had way too much mayo in the crab meat. I should have gotten something different, many of the other dishes looked better than what I chose, but does that mean what I chose needs to be sub-par? The waitstaff wasn't organized or communicating with each other, and even though they were nice they were clearly overwhelmed with the half-full lunch crowd. Waited a long time for what was a simple order and just truly didn't like this spot. With so many other great Japanese options in Ventura County, I'd recommend pushing this one down the list. DAMN IT! If there were a force on this earth that could cause me to willingly enter the state of California it would be Ozeki Noodle. The only time I do not feel the bliss of non-califoniaism is when i get the hankering for thoses cold noodles, tasty tempura, or unagi-don. During my time in Cali Ozeki was a staple, a 3-5 time a week for lunch kinda staple. Some wait staff took to calling me unagi-kun. The service was always great, the food consistently Delicious. Their "sesame chicken" (it says "Tatsutaage" in Japanese) is really good! Just like my mom used to make. My boys always order the chicken and a bowl of rice. Under $6 for a plate is great price with the portion. I don't know other dishes, 5 star is for the sesame chicken. Note: Their "sesame chicken" doesn't have any sesame flavor. I really love this place for take-out. I can't attest for their sushi or udon, but I can them give a solid 5-stars for their (1) beef bowl, (2) oyako-don, and (3) katsu-don.
