I don't usually go out when I'm at the lake but it was a rainy day so we went on an adventure & I'm glad we did! We started at Ozark Distillery, they do tastings you get to choose 4 spirits & two beer samples. They have plenty to choose from. The ladies behind the bar were both really nice and helpful, It started to get busy when we did our tasting so we did them pretty quick & it goes straight to your head but they had a water jug out which helped! Spoiler alert I don't like to taste my liquor but free tastings can't be passed up. I got the blackberry mule & it was very refreshing and yummy. The patio was nice even though it was drizzling they have a covered spaced and big umbrellas over the tables that aren't covered, we sat under the umbrella and it was a really nice morning! Will deff be my go to spot for a rainy day at the lake! read more

Cannot comment to the actual distillery but I grabbed a bottle of the Apple Pie Moonshine from a Stuckey's gas station nearby while passing through. Probably my favorite Apple Pie Moonshine that i've had to date...and I've actually had quite a few. Hopefully will be through here again at some point and will have a chance to try out some more stuff at the actual distillery. read more

We went on a tour and the owner was giving the tour. He explained all about the process on the making of moonshine. The ambiance was very welcoming. On a rainy day after labor day, and looking for something cool, we stopped by here and were pretty surprised. It's a bit unassuming, but the drinks were strong and the samples just as friendly as the staff. Which might I add is a family gig. You can really tell it was the owner's dream to make something they're passionate about and everyone pitched in. The vanilla bean moonshine was my favorite. You can also have cocktails after samples. We love this place. Employees are very friendly and welcoming! We typically sit on the back patio but have needed to sit inside the last couple of visits ( due to weather). Towards the end of our last visit the owner stopped by to introduce himself and to tell us a bit of his and the distillery's history. Make sure you get a reservation as they do fill up quickly during the summertime. All ages will enjoy the tour but 21 and old are the only ones that can try the samples. It took about and hour as the whole process was explained to us and we were taken to a building in the back where all the distilling goes on. Went with my in laws and they seemed to enjoy it too! This was a ton of fun. John, the owner has a slick, fun & folksy presentation that actually explains the how the moonshine is made. Lots of jokes. Great interaction with the tour group. Arrive on time. Time waits for no-one at Lake if the Ozarks. If the tour starts at 3, be there by 2:55. If you arrive late, there may be some fun at your expense. And be sure to stifle a yawn or your fair game. All done with love. After the 30 minute explanation you hit the hospitality room. Lots of samples. Bourbon. Gin. Beer. And of course, a variety of flavored moonshine. I can pretty much guarantee you'll walk out with a bottle of something. You can stay as long as you wish. Order full drinks and down a pizza. Our visit to Ozark Distillery, complete with tasting and tour, was nothing short of incredible. The tour, which was only $5, outclassed pretty much every other brewery and distillery tour I have taken. This is thanks in large part to John, the owner, whose colorful and comedic approach to whiskey 101 is informative, hilarious, and doesn't drag on and on like distillery and brewery tours often do. The fact that you can show up early, grab yourself a beer or cocktail from the bar, and carry it with you on the tour is just icing on the cake. The tasting afterwards was informal and plentiful. The corn, cinnamon, and butter bean whiskies were my favorites, though I liked everything I sampled, and we took home a few bottles for later. We just walked in for the tour, but the lady behind the bar was highly recommending to folks that they reserve a spot online. I think we probably got lucky, because our tour ended up being very full. I would definitely try to make reservations. We were in town for a bachelor party, by the way, and the Ozark Distillery visit was a perfect daytime bachelor party activity. Very friendly and helpful service, as well as a clean and tidy eating area with both indoor and outdoor options. We had the meat lover and deluxe pizzas - both were tasty and provided plenty of food. What a neat little place! A mom and pop moonshine distillery that offers free tours and tastings of their delicious spirits. I wish I knew the couple's names who own and operate this distillery. They are both really fun and very knowledgable. They offer tours on Saturdays. The tour consists of the science behind how alcohol is distilled as well as a little history of how they started their business and funny stories of their distillery mishaps. After the tour you're invited to sample any of their products. They specialize in flavored moonshine, bourbon and vodka. All the spirits are barrel fermented and naturally flavored. They also offer suggestions for drink combos made with their liquors. My favorite was the butterscotch moonshine, hubby liked the straight bourbon but we ended up buying the regular moonshine to mix with Bloody Mary mix- they let us sample it this way! Whew! Distillery tours are lead by Dave Huffman the owner and Distiller. He gives you a nice introduction in how he got involved with producing corn whiskey. He also educates you on the distillery process. Dave is funny, knowledgeable and very personable. After the free tour you get to sample some of the bourbon whiskey, moonshine, vodka and bbq sauce. The product is very flavorful and smooth. A jar of bbq sauce is $5 and bottle of moonshine is $24.95. The moonshine is so clear and high quality it is noted not to give you a hangover. We will definitely put Ozark Distillery on our required stop list for future visits to Osage Beach! read more

The tour is wonderful! Dave knows what he is talking about and is ready and willing to share his story. He is funny and engaging. Very good tour. The tasting was lacking. You have to choose one tasting at a time that is served in a tiny plastic tasting cup. There can be 40 in a tour and you have line up single file and get one tasting at a time. Needless to say we didn't taste very many. The building itself was rustic and friendly appearing. The shop had all of their products neatly displayed and the bartenders were quick with putting out drinks. They do serve pizza here. I'd recommend for the tour. read more

My beloved sister recently moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and it worked out that we could visit her, for a short two-day getaway. What do I look for? Out of the ordinary, interesting spots to visit and explore. A little research yielded Ozark distillery, a mom-&-pop operation that was just minutes from their home in Osage Beach. They offer bourbon, moonshine and a vodka, and tours on Saturday throughout the day. Unfortunately we were in town on a Friday, but that didn't stop us from stopping in for a tasting. I was primarily interested in the bourbon, I went for that first, but my sis tried the vanilla bean moonshine, which became her and our bros immediate fave. We tasted the others apple pie and butterscotch, but the vanilla bean was hard to beat. I bought some bourbon, sis got the vanilla and we were set to go. Look hard or you'll miss it, it's in a small lot with a real-estate agent style-office, but once you get through the second door you know you've found your spot, for small-batch, lovingly made spirits. read more

Our Vrbo host recommended the distillery tour, and we are glad we took him up on his suggestion. The information about brewing was very interesting, and now I know some things about how to detect good liquor from bad that I did not know before! The free samples offered afterwards were plentiful (although I had to limit myself since I was the DD), but my family thoroughly enjoyed the samples and took home some bottles of standard corn liquor as well as the blackberry variety. I did sample the boubon (that is my particular favorite beverage) and the corn whiskey (AKA moonshine), and thought both were quite good.
