So I was to tired to thirsty and way to hungry to waste a moment to take a picture but here goes…read more Now, if you've ever found yourself wandering through Waynesville with a hollow leg and a thirst that'd make a camel quit, you could do a whole lot worse than pulling up a chair at Hopper's Pub. It's the kind of joint where the atmosphere is thicker than a Sunday morning fog and the hospitality is warmer than a radiator in July. Since we're right there in the shadow of the fort, you'll find yourself rubbing elbows with all sorts of folks. They say you ought to eat where the locals eat, but in a military town, "local" is a relative term--most everybody there is from somewhere else, and they're all just passing through on Uncle Sam's dime. But at Hopper's, for an hour or two, everybody's treated like they grew up right down the street. If f you're looking for a cold beer, Hopper's has their own house brew on tap that's colder than a mother-in-law's stare. It's a sports bar in the truest sense--wall-to-wall TV screens making sure you don't miss a single down or a checkered flag. When there's a car show in town or a big game on, the place gets livelier than a porch dog with a new bone. Speaking of dogs there is a semi-permanent guest that stops by name of Norman. Pet him and you will have a friend for life. They aren't feeding birds here, friend. We're talking Burgers and fries of with tons of flavor. Sliders, cheesesteaks and wings, make sure you got extra napkins. I am not sure why but I think he also have vegetarian options. The staff is politer than a deacon on Sunday. They're attentive, friendly, and they treat travelers like they've lived in Waynesville their whole lives. Keep in mind they are pumping out a ton of adult beverages and food. A cold beer and a good burger are worth a five minute wait. Whether you're just passing through or you're a "local" who's only been in town since your last PCS, Hopper's is a solid bet for a good time and a full belly. It's family-friendly, high-energy, and highly recommended. And if you happen to be there when they break out the Bingo, hold onto your hat. They've got a unique set of calls and responses that'll frighten and amaze you the first time you hear 'em--it's somewhere between a drill sergeant's cadence and a tent revival, and it's worth the price of admission just to witness the spectacle.

Went back and had the Southwest Chicken, grilled veggies and loaded baker. GREAT meal. The chicken…read morewas juicy and tender with pepper jack, mushrooms and peppers. The grilled veggies were tender not soggy- squash, carrots and fresh green beans. The loaded baker was a surprise, butter, sour cream and bacon of course, with tomatoes and diced red onion. I. ATE. IT. ALL. Long Island Iced tea was the best, had 2!

I've been weekending on Pomme for 3 years and now I'm mad that I didn't get to Lucky's sooner!…read more Typical lake bar/grill - nothing spectacular about the decor and there's no ambience but the place is clean and the wait staff are super friendly, fun and very attentive! The menu is not super huge and the food is amazing. I never expected it to be of such high quality. Friday & Saturday they serve Prime Rib with 2 sides and it is spectacular! I ordered Mid-Rare and DH ordered Mid and we got exactly that, cooked perfectly! Juicy and flavorful with some locally made creamy horseradish. Simply divine. As for sides, the grilled vegetables were seasoned well, hints of rosemary and garlic, and perfectly crisp-tender. Baked potato - well, really you can't screw that up, can you? I deducted a star because the salad was bagged shredded lettuce with a handful of shredded cheddar/jack cheese mounded on it. No tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, croutons, etc. Salad dressing was obviously bottled, but at least serving it on the side is standard. You get 2 packages of Club crackers. When that come to the table, I was thoroughly ready to be greatly disappointed. Lucky for Lucky's the meat and vegetables absolutely redeemed them! I definitely will be going back for more Prime or to try some of the other menu items. I would also note that this visit was in mid-March, off-season, we got there about 5:30 pm. on Saturday it was packed with locals by the time we left at 6:30 p.m. I can't imagine what it must be like during the season, but I will definitely be back!

We've been here multiple times over the years- setting is beautiful. Have been there when it's busy…read moreand empty. Don't understand the "security" though. We came in dockside w our boat- a security kid was standing his post right near the closed pool and bar area. He checked all of our IDs and bc our daughter was under 21, he had to place 2 large permanent marker "Xs" on her hands. As he did this, he stated, "Pool is for adults only, but the pool is closed." What?? Why the big Xs and ID check if we're just going up for dinner... and the place is empty? The food was decent. Drinks were good but expensive especially for the lack of alcohol in them. We didn't want to pay for bottled water either- no free waters there like every other restaurant. Waitress was great although she was the only one helping the outside patrons (inside was empty). We encouraged her that she was doing a good job since we could tell she was running. All in all, we may stop here again since we are down in the area frequently, but there are better options we will choose 1st. (And as we left, we saw the security kid sitting up top at the bar in the restaurant ... so glad my daughter "gets" to have these big black Xs on her hands for 2 days now. Just not necessary.)

Undoubtedly the worst RV resort I've visited. Horrible, unfriendly, and unprofessional customer…read moreservice. The food was incredibly bland and cold. Do not order water! I asked for a cup of water and they told me they do not have cups of water, only bottles for $2 each. You are literally a restaurant. How do you not have cups of water? How are you cooking and washing dishes without clean water? On top of the very expensive (and quite frankly, unreasonable) prices, we were surprised with a 20% gratuity (for a party of 2) that they said was standard for everyone. They also added a separate card charge on top of this. This wasn't stated anywhere until we got the check. This should not be their choice. I believe they require this charge because they know they will not get that based on the service. Wish I would've gone to the gas station instead of paying $95 for a two person dinner. Seriously. Freezer meals would have been better tasting and more enjoyable and I wouldn't have had to feel as though I was bothering the staff with my presence. Also, the steps to get into the pool were extremely slick and unsafe. I will absolutely not be back.
