    Langoustines.

This is a perfectly nice place to have a meal if you don't have the time to go into Oban to a better restaurant. We had haggis, neeps & tatties and langoustines and found both to be quite good. Service was ho hum...

A fabulous hotel and pub situated a few miles from Oban. The rooms are spacious and have excellent beds. The room was clean and well maintained and the bathroom was well stocked. The pub attached to the hotel building was excellent. The choice of seafood was brilliant and it was all cooked to perfection. The oysters they served here were from a few miles down the road and were delectable. Dessert was also good and they have an excellent selection of single malts to sample. The service is very friendly and we ended u spending a bit of money trying single malts. There is a pool table in the pub and the staff were very accommodating. Breakfast here is also good and there are plenty of choices to pick from. Value for money is great and you can get a decent deal for bed and breakfast. The surrounding area is peaceful and the views are great. I would happily stay here again.

We were at the end of a very long trip, a trip that started 4 weeks before at an upscale, boutique…read moreMiami Beach hotel, then 2 weeks in Cunard's Queens Grill, a couple of nights at a very posh London Hotel, a nice place in Edinburgh, a quirky (but great) Portree "guest house," and a couple of nights at a rather fancy "restaurant with rooms" on the Isle of Skye. No place was nicer, no one was more friendly, and no hotel was as warmly welcoming as The Barriemore in Oban. From the jovial fellow doing some outside work who helped us get parked straight and who then got us geographically situated, to Marc who got inside and showed us around, to Jan, who I believe checked us in, everyone was so nice and friendly. We were in Room A which has a bit of an up-charge -- but, if the room is available it's well worth it. Room A even has a writing room/dressing room! The extra large bathroom was well-appointed and clean. Best of all it had a shower stall and not a tub that would require a struggle to get to in and out. On a cold morning you'll especially appreciate the towel warmer. The bedroom was extra large with a king size bed. What made the room extra special however was the two comfortable sitting chairs facing several large windows looking directly out on the Oban Esplanade, the harbor channel and the entire Oban harbor. Enormous ferries regularly barreling up the channel were remarkably near the shore, so close you don't need binoculars to get a good look -- except that binoculars are provided! There's some nice sherry in the room, whisky in the hallway and coffee equipment with all the necessary supplies in the room -- plus some extra treats. The breakfast room was bright, cheery and well decorated. There's a nice cereal/fruit/yogurt buffet plus a menu for table-served, cooked-to-order items, including, of course, a full Scottish breakfast. My scrambled eggs with 3 sausages were well-cooked and delicious. I especially liked the unusual (to us, anyways) berry compote (?). The Barriemore is at the very end of the Oban Esplanade meaning it's a 10-15 mins. Walk down to the restaurants and shops. But especially if you've been on the road a bit too long, or if for any reason you need a comfortable and friendly respite, the walk is definitely worth it.

We loved this place. I can stay anywhere that is clean so this place exceeded my expectations…read more There was free wifi, free parking right in front of the building, breakfast choices were abundant and included in the price. It was nicely decorated and the staff was friendly. So glad we made Oban a 2 night stay. Such a lovely little town.

HARRY POTTER FANS, listen up: This hotel is WALKING DISTANCE from the Harry Potter Bridge here in Glenfinnan. You know the one. FLying car, chamber of secrets, Hogwarts express? Yeah, that's right!! NOT ONLY THAT, but it is right on Lock Shiel which, in addition to being absolutely stunning, is the lake that Hogwarts is on. Compare pictures to this lake to photos from the second task(mermaids) from Goblet of Fire....you will SCREAM! Enough about Harry Potter. This hotel is quaint, homey, and incredibly warm and lively. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs and desires are met. From the included breakfast every morning to the offering of packed lunches for your daily hikes the team here is a cut above the rest. The rooms are large with beautifully updated, modern washrooms and showers. The tea kettles and assortment of coffee and teas(in room) are brilliant and the perfect touch. The main dining area/restaurant is delicious with terrific daily specials. The bar area/casual dining area is just as great and features traditional, Scottish, live music some nights. This place will remain at the TOP of my list not only for myself but for recommendations to anyone that may ask. Thank you to the brilliant team behind this beautiful hotel.
