I recently found out about this place from a friend's Instagram story when they went. So I made…read moresure to plan a hike here for when I had time. I was able to come here in the middle of the week around noon. The GPS made this place easy to find. There is plenty of parking here at pena adobe park and lagoon valley park. The hike is located at lagoon valley park, so don't mix those up. You do have to pay $5 for parking, and the machine kiosk was broken when I went, but you can still pay through the park mobile app, which is what I did. The hike is listed as moderate, but felt borderline difficult to me (maybe I'm just out of shape). There is a lot of up hill when you first start, and because there wasn't a lot of shade combined with me going on the hottest day of the week (low 80 degrees), it did make it feel more difficult. After I parked, I was a bit confused on where to go so had to ask someone finishing up their hike for the direction. I was instructed to go up the main trail past the gate for the main trail to the lighthouse at the top. There are lots of trails here, but the one to the top of the hill is the most popular, and probably the most difficult). Once you park in the lot by the lake/pond, you cross the road to the grassy side and follow that trail to the gate that keeps the cows inside. There is another easier hike/walk your can take around the lake/pond, which is mostly flat. The views on this hike are great. Despite it being a little warmer, the breeze helped a lot. I liked the views and made it to the top after about 1 and a half hours. In total, it took me about 2 hours to finish the hike. And that's with a 20 minute break halfway going uphill. Going downhill is a lot faster. I'll be back for one of the other trails and how to bring family and friends to join.

This place is great right now late January. I think it's probably hot as heck in the summer. My…read morekids and I went for a walk around the lagoon, it took us about 50 minutes. Nice walk on a dry day. Would be super muddy in the rain. Seems like a place that's only good during a particular weather/season. Parking is $5+. Lots of picnic tables, some bathrooms and a playground available. We'll probably be back if we find ourselves in the area.

I didn't know I would have to pay for parking to enter though. That was a surprise. The Cost was only $3 for parking, but I wasn't planning on a charge. The walk from the parking lot to the course is about 1/3 of a mile. The course is hidden and down below the Lake. The course had many challenging baskets with a bunch of obstacles. I had a ton of fun and would recommend anyone to check it out.

You gotta stop by the pro shop. That's a disc treasure trove! Otherwise, it's like a mile hike to start the course. Then it is really a lot of fun! They have a couple of practice pins to toss at, one near the pro shop and one right next to the gate to enter the course. The pins move weekly...so it was a bit challenging for my first time here, cause I didn't know if 17 was a 250 or a 540, for example) However, it was a lot of fun! Most of the course is shaded, except the longer ones. Some of the pins have some really crazy placements, which I think is fun. Watch out for the Poison oak, I've been told, I didn't see any today, but I believe the locals. Good tees! Fun Pins! Give it a shot! Thanks CSD for getting that in!

It is really great place to start playing without having to deal with losing your discs in some thick underbrush. I don't visit this course as much as it doesnt require any real technical shots. There are some trees blocking some of the holes from the bad but nothing that would be considered too difficult. It really is a great place to bring out someone new to the game. There are some issues as others have mentioned. Due to the lack of trees there isnt really much cover and it can get pretty hot during the day. There are also issues with lack of maintenance. This site is actually also an overflow parking lot on holes 4 through 9 during major events. At the time of this review, hole 4 was actually removed and there is some construction material around. It definitely is a good starter course but there will be a point where you will start to visit the more popular courses in the Sacramento Area. Ill occasionally come out here for distance throwing and trying out some new discs without fear of losing them!

It's never crowded. In fact it'll rare to even see one or two others partaking in a round. There are no water features and it's completely flat. Most of the holes have grass or groomed weeds. There are a couple that have rough landing areas with dirt and rock that can tear up your disc. On these I usually pull out a disc that works just for this purpose. The course can get a little swampy in spots during the wi tee time. Parking is free and abundant. It's a really nice old park and having a disc golf course as a part of the park is certainly a welcomed feature. I hope at some point the city puts a few dollars into making the course a more desirable layout. I don't think that's likely as it's used for overflow parking when the park hosts the occasional large draw events like the western festival. I just left the course but will add a few pictures next time time I'm out for a round.

The Toneys built the whole 18 hole course up themselves in the last few years on their property, and the whole thing is irrigated with well water pumped by solar power. Most of the course is flat, while there are about four "bowl holes" that take you down and out of a valley, including one with a 250 ft. drop. Fortunately there's not too much brush, so you'll probably be able to find your disc when it goes astray. Camping here was great too. The plots are spread out, and it's not crowded. You can rent one of their spacious teepees for $30, and swim in their kind of icky yet refreshing pool with the frogs and water skippers. The Toneys were great hosts, and went golfing with us.
