It was nice that the large, small, and mixed areas all connected too so you could move from spot to spot without leashing your dog.

He also had some loners too! I thought that was super awesome! So I just started tossing money at him. The Donner Ski Ranch Disc Golf Course is an 18 hole public disc golf course located next to the…read moreDonner Ski Ranch. I recently came here on a date with someone who is into disc golf. We parked in the ski ranch parking lot for free, and then I believe we signed some waivers at the nearby Old 40 Bar and Grill. From there, the disc golf course is just up the hill on the other side of the parking lot. What I loved most about this course was that walking around it felt so much like hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail in Donner, which makes sense, since that's only a few miles away. The holes were nestled up in groves of tall trees. We had plenty of privacy, since there was only one other couple playing the course at the same time as us. On our way around the course, we saw two alpine lakes, and walked right by the tops of the ski lifts. The views were unbeatable. This was my first time playing disc golf, and I wasn't great at it, but I still had a good time. Honestly, throwing a frisbee into a basket isn't as appealing to me as going hiking is, anyway. There were plenty of signs directing us where to go, and we had an easy way finding our way around the course. Overall, this is a moderately challenging course with spectacular scenery.

Be sure to follow the written driving directions on the website - google maps will take you on dirt roads. Don't count on using your cell phone - poor or no reception. Bring all of your needs - no stores in the park or near by. The Visitor Center does sell ice and wood. They only take cash. Great Visitor Center - a museum of mining and relics from the town. They have brochures and some souvenirs. North Bloomfield is population 7 now. The park rangers are very helpful - Sue was awesome. Lots of trails to hike. Really liked the Slaughterhouse and Blair trails. We'll maintained campground. Grill / fire pits, Bear Lockers, trash bins. The bathrooms were a pleasant surprise - running water, nice toilets, toilet paper, seat covers, paper towels and soap dispensers. No lights.

Came here to play pickle ball last week and had a great time. They have two courts and lights on…read morethe courts which is a huge plus! The bathroom is pretty clean as well. This week though 4/2/26 , they didn't have lights on the court cause some crackhead took out the copper wires. When it gets fixed I'd love to come back to play pickle ball again. Hope they fix it soon

I was happy to find this park was kept up! Saw absolutely no litter nor any homeless encampments…read morelike in many parks in the East Bay of California. It felt safe and was enjoyable to walk the trails. Easy parking and the parking lot was free from creepy people at least when I was there (another issue at many parks/rec areas these days). The trails are well maintained and I loved that you could get away from the house and streets in the middle of the park.

They have plenty of benches to either read or enjoy your lunch. I went today to walk and enjoy the sunshine. TOTALLY safe by myself! They have bochii ball, disc park, basketball court, outdoor skating area, fenced dog park, etc. They also have a large covered area with picnic tables and grills. The park has 2 separate fenced areas with slides and other fun things for the kiddos. I noticed there is several public restrooms throughout the park There is also a renovated baseball field inside the park. There is a pond and most of the walking trails are pretty flat and easy to walk. I love to come here and throw a Frisbee or just chill under one of the massive trees that are all around the park. Centrally located. And close to everything. So quiet in the mornings! This is my happy place to relax!
