This park is super spacious and perfect for a long walk, clearing your head, or pretending you're in your "romantic main character reconnecting with nature" era. There's plenty of room to roam, and it's honestly such a peaceful spot to just exist outside for a while. Now... the only downside is the public restroom situation. The lack of doors is a bold architectural choice -- very "trust fall with society." As a woman, it's a little... unsettling. And the inside? Let's just say it gave strong Silent Hill vibes. Not quite the immersive nature experience I was looking for. That said, the park itself is beautiful and totally worth visiting. Just maybe handle your restroom business before you arrive -- or be prepared for a survival horror side quest. read more

We had a lovely afternoon walk after lunch on a beautiful 80°F day. The small shaded parking lot led us to a peaceful pond filled with the sounds of loud bullfrogs--a fun surprise! The trails were clean and scenic, with towering trees that made us feel like we were in Tahoe. We spotted some lifelike animal statues along the way and enjoyed a relaxing 2-mile loop past playgrounds and open fields. The fresh air and serene surroundings made it perfect for biking or just clearing your mind. Highly recommend this spot for a refreshing outdoor escape! read more

I was very disturbed by the lack of doors in the public restroom... anyone can walk in and come face to face with you mid-pee.. :( Also I don't think I visited in the right time of year because everything was pretty dry and I was just. so hot. my bad. BUT!! It's really such a large place with so much flat grass and walking trails, and the lake area is very cool. It's unfortunate that the bordering grass doesn't let you take a look very closely. BUT! We saw some turtles. I feel like I should probably come back in cooler weather to better explore the rest.. maybe I'm not Northstar Park-ing to my fullest potential!!! read more

This is a lovely park, well maintained, clean, and with plenty of equipment die the littles to explore. There are some neat birding platforms to check out and some paths and trails that lead to other connected parks and greens. There is a public restroom, as well, but note that there is no door shielding the toilet from other folks coming in or out. I find that aspect uncomfortable and creepy. read more

Great park with a beautiful lake (see photo). They also have a shaded nature walk path and 2 separate play areas; a large on on the southeast side of the park and a smaller one on the west side of the park. The playgrounds do not have shade in the play areas. read more

Just when I thought I have explored basically everything interesting in Davis...I didn't know such a beautiful park existed on the edge of North Davis! This park sheds a whole new, different light of what Davis is known for as a cow town! There are two pretty ponds with many paths to choose from to go walking/biking/running on. Along the way to the Northstar Park, there are a few jungle gyms for kids to play in, grass fields to lie on or for recreational activities, and the surrounding, green environment to admire. I absolutely adore the whole Greenbelt. When I want to take a break from studying or clear my mind, I take a stroll down the various paths this Greenbelt has to offer. It's simply enjoyable. read more

I think the first time I came here, I may have been on a date. lawl. :O It took me a full year to find this park again on my own (although to be fair, I didn't really physically start looking until about a year later). Anyway, this is quite likely my favorite park in Davis. :] There are cute ducks, a huge expanse of grassy fields, and two ponds. It's definitely the perfect place to have a picnic, or, since it's Davis, to go for a bike ride. I went back with my roommates to stargaze during the meteor shower in August, and we made plans to come back for a picnic, but our schedules clashed so much, I'd be lucky to see them on the rare occasion that I was actually home,.and they'd figure that the.sound of my voice on such occasions was actually a mere figment of their imagination. It was pretty sad, but really, the park is really nice. Beware of goose poop though! read more

It was a Friday afternoon, my roommate was out of town, the sun was out, it was before allergy season, and I was done with classes for the day. So I got on my bike and got lost. It was about 6 hours ago, and I've already talked about it with a friend. This is one of the nicer small parks I've seen anywhere. Anywhere anywhere. It's along the North Davis greenbelt right at the edge of Anderson and F. There's a pier over the Julie Partansky pond and there's a small pond in the middle of a nice grass area with an island in the middle. All sorts of birds frolicked merrily at this quiet park, the most interesting of the lot being a great white egret that I saw perched on the island in the middle of the small pond. There are benches around it and I stopped off to just look at everything. It's a really nice piece of nature tucked between streets where you wouldn't expect something so nice to be. I must have sat in the same spot for ten minutes just staring. Bike here alone and clear your mind from the weights on your shoulders. Take a date here for a walk or a picnic or something. At any rate, I'll be back, alone or not. read more

This is one of my neighborhood parks. I remember seeing the man-made ponds and greens built by earthmovers during the mid 1980's. The boardwalk that extends into Julie Partansky Pond (PKA North Area Drainage Pond) was renovated and re-opened during the spring of 2012. At the same time a shrine in homage of Julie Partansky was built near the boardwalk entry. Partansky served on Davis City Council (1992-2002) and as Mayor (1998-2001). The park is a popular destination for North Davis residents but is not well known by most Davisites. There is a small playground on the southwest corner, lots of lawn space and two ponds that assist storm sewer drainage and groundwater recharge. Soccer fields join the park to the west. The Julie Partansky Pond offers excellent birdwatching possibilities, especially if you bring along a pair of binoculars. The vicious domestic geese that loitered about the west pond were disappeared by the City of Davis. Wild Canada geese have taken their place during the winter months. These geese are shy and will leave when approached by people. Northstar Park is on the North Davis Greenbelt. A favorite of walkers and bikers you can follow the greenbelt from Northstar Park to the levee and Covell Drainage Channel along the northern edge of Davis, west almost to Highway 113 and south to Covell Blvd. read more

A surprising hidden gem...Driving around Davis just chatting with my boyfriend. We were looking for a park to just take a stroll & came upon this one...Seemed like it was closed upon first glance though once we drove around we soon realized that it was in fact open. Part of the actual park it is a natural preserve. We were able to walk across a bridge to view the preserve & it's natural surroundings. Also included was a family park with a duck pond with beautiful geese, children's play area, & walking trails in which we began on our adventure. Upon our surprise all the trails were located within neighborhoods. Nice trees & grassy areas, through a tunnel. Quite quaint... We will certainly come back again. read more

Cool park. Had a four hour wait in town so me and my three kids headed over. My 16 month old splashed in puddles, while I and my two older daughters enjoyed the awesome scenery. The lakes / ponds and multi-foliaged areas were comforting. We met a Davis native and are children mingled and laughed. It was a great way to enjoy our time and each other. read more

Excellent park! This is my favorite one in Davis. Davis residents are so lucky to have it! I walked and biked through this park almost everyday this summer. I like to sit on the bench facing south towards the pond and enjoy the sun and watch people. There are a couple of regulars who have routines like this lady who wears a white long sleeved shirt, cap, and sunglasses while doing a shuffle-run/jog. She sometimes sits with the ducks and pets them! There's also this old man who walks only around the pond repetitively. He is the one who wears pants that look like dress pants. The most rounds I counted was about 5 before I left. The thing I do not like about this park is the amount of bird poop and how dark it gets at night. Even though Davis is pretty safe, it wouldn't hurt to add more lights because some areas are prime places for bad stuff to go down. read more

I just moved to Davis not long before. One day, I found this nice park on map! So I decided to come here and took a stroll. When I arrived here, I found that everything was fine except one of the two ponds! After comparing the pictures which the internet users sent on Yelp, I discovered that the bigger pond was gone! I was surprised at the first moment. As I was approaching the big pond, I realized that the water in that pond had already run dry. It is obvious that the water in the lake evaporated quickly because of the recent drought in California. read more

I love this park. I have been here at least a few hundred times. The neighborhood is safe and the homes around the park are not cheap to live in. Why only four stars? The often neglected wildlife wooden structures could use some much needed maintenance. You will never find any homeless people in this park. read more
