    It was a beautiful day

Tons of open space to get most your walking or running needs in. Bikes also welcomed along paths. Take laps around the lake, or get up the hills. Either way is relaxing and will help you burn calories. Make it to the top of the cell towers? Get a great view of the state prison and all the other glory that surrounds this open space park. Don't forget to pay for parking, as parking enforcement seems to be pretty prevalent there. 5 bucks a day or 25 bucks for six months. Watch out for horse poop, low flying jets, and the geese, they seem to be angry. Cool dog park also.

We went to the lagoon side and they have: golf section, dog park, kids swings, hiking trail, a trail around the lagoon, a boat doc, you can fish: you can do a lot all in one area!

Beautiful views from high up on the windy hills. Nice steep climb for a medium hiker. The redwood grove with the picnic tables is just lovely. Wonderful place to hike with a friend.

The lagoon connects to pens adobe regional park, so it makes sense to check out both areas in if you're visiting for the day. It is a great park for Vacaville locals who like to bike, hike, and walk their dogs. I have noticed ultimate frisbee players and trail runners as well. They have picnic tables, shaded areas, and a children's playground so the area is very family friendly. The lagoon has a dog park and accessible doggy bags located throughout. The trails of pena adobe are in direct sun and there are trees scattered so be sure to pack water. The park is maintained by city of Vacaville and is kept very clean. Parking is readily accessible.

One of the FEW positives of living in Vacaville. I only go in the winter/early spring when the hills are still green from the rains because that makes the short (but steep!) climb to the best look out spot worth it. Wish they didnt charge $ to park.

I was in Vacaville and spotted a sign to this park. Having time on my hands, I drove and followed the signs. The park is a one and half acre historical park. It has open flat fields great for playing soccer and big ole shade trees great. I could see myself coming here again in cooler weather and laying down a blanket under one of the gorgeous trees and having a picnic. This is a simple, no thrills, open space park. $5 parking fee. Talking about picnics, they have two large picnic areas that need to be reserved ahead of time for use. One has a covered pavilion and a few stand bbq grills while the other area has big bbq grills and a spit but there is no shade cover. What makes this park a historical park is that the land was the Rancho Los Putos. If has the oldest structure built in Solano County, the former home of the Peña family. It is California historical landmark #534. The Adobe was built in 1842. The Adobe still has its original hand hewn redwood timber beams. The house is considered an Adobe because the walls were made of Adobe mud bricks which were built by Native Americans. The Peña and Vaca families ranched the land. The nearby town of Vacaville was named after the Vaca family. The Vaca family originally homesteaded along with the Penas. The nearby Vaca's Adobe did not survive the 1892 earthquake. The Peña Adobe is usually open the first Saturday of the month. It was not the first Saturday when I dropped in so I was out of luck. There were other interesting areas with broken or worn out site markers but no information boards. I was super curious about the olive tree and the statue of the Holy Mother. If you walk slow and soak up the info, these sites can be easily walked and viewed within 20 minutes. The main road leads into a parking lot that has a small number of spots. The lot dead ends. So if the lot is full, you will need to maneuver point turns to get out. There is a gravel lot outside to the right of the park gates for excess parking. From the gravel lot there is a dirt trail that leads to neighboring Lagoon Valley park and its trails. That park is a bit more exciting with trails, open multipurpose field, picnic area with bbqs, disc gold courses, dog park, and a pond that allows fishing and non motorized water crafts.

My girlfriend and I love going to this park! Our favorite is hike is parking in Lagoon Valley and just hiking up and down the hill. It's approximately 3 miles and almost 750 ft of elevation gain. It has different kinds of beauty in winter and summer, yet is always a treat and gratifying to get to the top and look over Vacaville and the neighboring cities! The numerous people and dogs out makes the space feel very safe and inviting as well. A final review is a 10/10 from me and I recommend to anyone looking for an easy hike with some exercise to come out here - especially if you have fur companions!

I have been coming here since forever. It's my favorite place to walk/hike in the area. You can enjoy a nice walk, bike ride, bike, picnic and more. Too bad they are doing a bunch of construction now because it really takes away from some of the beauty of it all. I enjoy the open space, fresh air and all the beautiful trees! I try to come a few times a week to enjoy a nice walk. Definitely a must if you are in the area!

After visiting the city, we decided to grab some churches chicken and eat it here at the park. It is always a good place to stop when we are on the road. We used to park our trailer here over-night, however they changed the big dirt parking area and we are no longer able to park our trailer. The dirt parking lot outside the park is now grass. This is right next to lagoon Valley Park. Lagoon valley park was closed and had a gate across so we turned left at the entrance to get here. The park was clean, however the restrooms were closed. There was a van overnighter parked here. To be honest, I was shocked that the gate was not locked here since it was after dark. We dragged one of the tables, picnic tables, to the light in the area and had a picnic. Afterwards, the kids played some tag in the light at the parking area. It was quite nice as the kids are now teenagers. They have been playing tag in this parking lot since they were little, and it is just fun to see them forget all of their teenage angst and just have fun. We did clean up really well after the picnic. I believe it is important to teach the children to keep our parks and recreation place clean.

Beautiful trails and the scenery is out of this world felt as though I was in another country especially when you get all the way up to the top

    Hello baby cows :)

After the rain has been keeping me indoors I thought I'd bug my parents and take them for a moderate hike...at least that's what my alltrails app rated this trek up the hill to reach the tower. My parents came along trustingly for the trek, thinking that it was a gradual incline. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know what it was going to be like except that my bag pack had a first aid kit, a couple bottles of water, and my Dad's nitrostat...I even contemplated buying an AED at one point... but that's just me being extra. The main trail is gravel so if you follow that all the way you'll be fine, you won't be lost. There are other trails that aren't gravel that you can follow as well if you're inclined. The trek up to the tower was full of pleasant twists and turns. Al though there were a few pauses here and there it was worth seeing and hearing the random birds, calves, cows and the fellow hikers who cheered on my parents. "Are we there yet?" My parents would ask every so often. "We're almost there," I'd say with a smile...like they'd tell me when I was a kid all those many years ago.

I come here pretty much everyday and I love it. I've never had a bad experience. Everyone that is out enjoying nature are usually friendly. There's lots of great trails and views. It's a nice local area I think everyone will love.

This park is the best one of the best in Solano County. Great area to go on runs for those who enjoy fitness by taking the trail by Guns Fishing & Other Stuff or the loop on the main entrance. Wildlife is great here as well and very friendly. Encourage people to visit here. See the photos for a sample of what Pena Adobe has to offer.

I was able to come here in the middle of the week around noon. The GPS made this place easy to find. There is plenty of parking here at pena adobe park and lagoon valley park. The hike is located at lagoon valley park, so don't mix those up. You do have to pay $5 for parking, and the machine kiosk was broken when I went, but you can still pay through the park mobile app, which is what I did. The hike is listed as moderate, but felt borderline difficult to me (maybe I'm just out of shape). There is a lot of up hill when you first start, and because there wasn't a lot of shade combined with me going on the hottest day of the week (low 80 degrees), it did make it feel more difficult. After I parked, I was a bit confused on where to go so had to ask someone finishing up their hike for the direction. I was instructed to go up the main trail past the gate for the main trail to the lighthouse at the top. There are lots of trails here, but the one to the top of the hill is the most popular, and probably the most difficult). Once you park in the lot by the lake/pond, you cross the road to the grassy side and follow that trail to the gate that keeps the cows inside. There is another easier hike/walk your can take around the lake/pond, which is mostly flat. The views on this hike are great. Despite it being a little warmer, the breeze helped a lot. I liked the views and made it to the top after about 1 and a half hours. In total, it took me about 2 hours to finish the hike. And that's with a 20 minute break halfway going uphill. Going downhill is a lot faster. I'll be back for one of the other trails and how to bring family and friends to join.

Magnolia Park is still newer, so of course it looks beautiful and well-kept. There are covered bench and table areas to enjoy a picnic or even throw a party. Those, unfortunately, are the only shaded areas at the park. Given how hot Vacaville can get, this is quite disappointing. The dining areas are fairly clean, for the most part. We will, unfortunately, always have individuals who will not clean up after themselves though. In regard to play areas, there are a couple areas where both big kids and little ones can enjoy. The jungle gym areas have bark to help soften kids' falls. I'm personally not a fan of the bark, since it gets in shoes, cause splinters, and what not. Thankfully, other areas have a thicker rubber covering the ground. There is also a water station where kids can play and enjoy playing in the cool water. This was a huge hit for many of the kids (and adults with their children) during the summer.
