I've been going to another optometrist and HATE having to get new glasses and contacts because it's so expensive. As soon as I walked up a guy in optical named Scott started talking to me about different frames and lens options and how they could help me. But for me, it came down to the price. Dr. Bizzle (GREAT Optometrist and the exam was less than my other doctor) got my exam done and then it was off to get the glasses. I learned a long time ago to pick out glasses before they put drops in your eyes. Trust me here. Anyway, I got a pair of glasses for driving called drive wear. (They turn dark like sunglasses when you're outside) and another pair for staring at the computer all day in the office. They really helped me to read the paper work and see the computer without getting that massive headache at 3pm. Apparently it was eye strain. I also bought contacts. My experience…read moreat the Homewood, AL (Lakeshore) location has been so frustrating that I waited on hold for 15 minutes in the parking lot this morning to talk to customer service. The person that I talked to was very nice and indicated how my situation should have been handled. She told me she would talk to the store manager and call me back. I have not heard back from her. Someone from the location called me later and left a message wanting to reschedule my appointment. I was 5 minutes late for an appointment due to poor road conditions. I was told there was no grace period for arriving late and would have to reschedule. The representative at the store kept looking at her watch indicating I was late and had an impatient, nasty attitude. I will NEVER go back. Life is too short. Another issue: I have two different insurance policies with vision insurance and when I made the appointment the representative would not confirm that they accept my insurance. She said that insurance coverage is reviewed at the time of the visit. That sounds like a way to do the exam and paint you in a corner.
