Absolutely love this shop! Was looking for a place that specialized in Subarus and dealerships charge an arm and a leg for oil changes. Saw many other reviews on this place and as a visitor, I decided to try it out. Went so well that I came back to get my Lower Control Arms replaced for my 2018 Subaru Forester Premium. Even let me know I had a nail in my tire. So I took it to Discount Tire to get it fixed. Everyone was great. Cassie is the owner and she and her right hand mechanic checked for the reason why I was shaking over 60 mph. It was the usual LCA. Left it for the day, they ordered the part, and was done by the end of day! Making an appointment is a must as they are VERY small. But I was able to make an appt for my oil change a few days after my call (due to my schedule) and then for my LCA 2 days after! The pricing was better to beat as the dealership would've quoted me $1600+. Cassie and her team are very honest and even offered to wash off most of the mud in the engine bay for a small fee! This is the only shop I trust with my van. Normally I'll do my own wrenching, but my '07 Toyota sienna has 20 year old wiring and I just don't want to deal with it. First time I came in was a no start with a strong battery. I figured the starter motor was shot and needed replacing. I got on the phone with Cassie (I hope I'm spelling that right). Brought it in and told her the starter motor has to be shot and needs replacing. She said they'd take a look and it'd be ready for pickup the following Wednesday (they get busy, it was the previous Friday I believe). Got a call Monday that it was ready for pickup. I came by expecting an expensive fix, somewhere to the tune of $350-$500 (thinking I would've done cartwheels out of there for $350). Cassie let me know that they'd found a bad ground, got it together, and I was out the door at ~$100. Recently had another no start issue about 8 months later, again thought that starter motor was finally shot. Strong battery and everything. Spoke to Cassie who was able to deal with the tow truck dropping it off without me even there. I went in, expressed my starter motor concern, and left. Once again, this was a Friday and I was told pickup would be Wednesday. The following Monday, I get a call, vans ready. I get into the shop once again thinking I'd be excited about $350. Cassie explains to me that there was a loose connection on the wire into the starter motor that shook out, and the starter motor is fine. I was out the door for ~$70. No other shop will ever wrench on my cars. White glove service and communication, better-than-dealer quality work, and absolutely trustworthy. Went here for routine maintenance on my RAV4. I used to take it to the dealership for every 5,000 mile/6 month service, but they had a backlog and this place is actually closer to me than the dealership. Service was performed in a timely manner and everyone I interacted with was very nice and professional. Price-wise it's a little more expensive than going to the dealership (which is why I'm giving it 4 stars), but depending on where you live it could be more convenient and it's nice to support a small, local business. read more

Honest mechanics work here!! I brought my 2001 Toyota Highlander here for a second opinion after i drove across country and the check engine light came on. I asked that they read the code and give me an idea of upcoming work I'd need. I mentioned I wasn't sure if I wanted to invest more into the vehicle due to the age & history of it but I was looking for professional guidance. They 100% delivered. Their verdict was honest and forthcoming. They knew they wouldn't profit from it but they still let me know my vehicle had a list of upcoming items that'd need maintenance. Cassie was as kind as possible when she let me know she wouldn't take my vehicle on long trips due to safety concerns. She also didn't suggest I invest more into it. All in all it was what I needed to hear. As I mentioned before this was my second opinion. The first mechanic I took it to quickly suggested I spend 800$ to switch out a spark plug and replace a sensor. This same mechanic had just charged me 450$ to switch out an air filter valve promising that would fix this same issue. They would've allowed me to continue throwing money into this vehicle if I let them so i am so so so very glad I went with my gut and asked this team to look at my vehicle instead. Last year, I took my daughter's high mileage (over 135k mi) recently purchased from a horrible used car lot (but dirt cheap! 4 past owners, past accident record, registered first in Florida then Louisiana, almost junk, so crappy) '07 Nissan Versa to this shop for a thorough mechanical inspection. They solved all the mysterious rattle noises (belt tensioner & motor mount) as well as all the cylinder misfires and bad (& incorrect) ignition coils, scraped/replaced makeshift silicone gasket and a major tune-up! All for a fair price. Since then, this scrappy car has been used for major daily commuting (LBC to Hollywood) in addition to some long distance road trips with no mechanical issues at all. I think Overseas Garage did a fine job of keeping this car running smoothly. I'd recommend them for your high mileage Japanese cars. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: An honest, thorough, and friendly car repair business. My 2015 Subaru Forester started making rattling noises at high speeds on the freeway and I knew I needed to get it checked out. I'd brought my car here for an oil change once or twice, but it had always been more convenient for me to take my car to the dealership on Cherry when I used to work in an office. Now that I work from home, this place has become more convenient, so I decided to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they were able to see my car right away. Initially they thought it might be my front axels, but once they got in there they determined that it was the control arms (ended up being about the same price). It ended up taking a little longer than they first estimated because of this, but it was still OK with me. They were also able to fix my faulty windshield wiper nozzle for a nominal price, although it ended up being a bit more work than they originally estimated, due to a broken hose clamp or something. ANYHOO, long story short, I was very pleased with my interaction with the business (I didn't get the young woman's name, but from the other reviews I gather it's Cassie?), and felt I got a good value for my money with the repairs. I called and spoke with Cassie, the owner (wooohooo female owned and operated!), also happens to be an old neighbor of mine from 8 years ago! The folks at Overseas Garage are an asset to Long Beach. I typically do most maintenance on my vehicles myself but sometimes you just need a second set of eyes to look at your vehicle. After my truck sat for almost 2 years it was experiencing typical issues that any car would have for sitting for so long. The folks at Overseas Garage listened to me and made me feel heard and respected. They understood where I was coming from. They took their time to diagnose my truck and figured out the issues. I was having idle issues and an accompanied stumble under light throttle input. After they smoke tested my engine and found 3 vacuum leaks that I missed. they replaced the vacuum hoses that were leaking and only charged me one hour of labor even though I know they spent more than an hour going through my truck checking everything. My truck is 25 years old. It's hard to find people that still want to work on OBD1 vehicles. They also advised me on a repair they think I should do on my own (to save money since they know I am mechanically inclined) and I took their advice and it further helped my truck run better. These folks are simply amazing. If I'm in the 562 area and I need some help with my vehicle I know I can count on them to properly diagnose, repair, and advise me on what needs to be done. My daughter's car was wobbling when applying the brakes (2008 Honda Pilot). Overseas Garage did a great job explaining the issue and giving me 2 options for the repair. They started the job but found a part was missing from the order. They let me know promptly that they could not finish in 1 day and asked if I wanted them to complete half the job and for me to come back or have them keep the car overnight. Took my car in last week for an oil change, radiator work, and A/C repair. Decided to take a chance here because I live less than half a mile away and all the reviews looked great. Got quotes for everything and it felt extremely fair, especially since the owner Cassie was explaining every detail about what needed to be done and the price of each thing. I gave the go ahead and it was finished the first thing the next morning. Everything on my car works great now, and they even fixed an annoying rattle (that turned out to be on my exhaust) that I've had for years and could never figure out, by simply putting a clip on it. This is the worst mechanic I've gone to in years! Incompetent! They repaired my car wrong, and I have had nothing but issues with it since. Took it back for them to fix what they botched, they keep it for 4 days, and tell me "they" didn't have a problem with it while it was with them. They did NOTHING! They were too clueless to find out the issue! I drove it home, and it was just as messed up as when I took it in! The girl working the front desk has a nasty attitude, too.
