What once felt like a teammate on my side helping me reach my healthcare goals has now become just another form of control over my life keeping me "in my place" and disallowing me from getting what I need to live my best life. Gatekeeping behavior from office staff who shut me down and are rude and abrupt when dealing with me. They put things in my chart that rightly have no place and then when questioned about it my request are outright ignored. They misinterpret my requests and then send me a cold sharp email outlining why they will not assist me with my request even though they openly admit in the email to have misinterpreted my request and are just trying to make my life difficult. Be careful who you trust to take care of you and your family because once they start putting stuff into your medical records its there for forever and there is no correction to their mistakes that rooted in their misinterpretation of the information you provide them. They will then blame you for not having provided true and correct information so I would advise everyone to take your request to this office in writing and only in writing and to always retain a written copy for your own records so they can not do to you what they are doing to me.

It's been my experience, that doctors are not thinking of their patients needs, but how many test they can put you through, I believe that's how they make some of their money. Dr. Z (Zickafoose) is my Primary and she was referred to me by a good friend. I have never been so happy as I am with this super professional and kind practice. My last doctor, stared at his computer and never really acknowledged me. And it was always a rushed appointment it seems.... TELE visits were a 3 minute phone call. Danielle Contreras, NP was very thorough with my TELE visit and she did it via video conference, I was so happy I didn't have to drag myself out of bed and she took her time. Jun 11 - i came in for my concerns and annual wellness check/blood draw. went to check out, i asked the receptionist lady if there was a copay and she said no. Jun 18 - follow up to review my test results, one test was missing so they drew my blood again. Went to check out and i asked the guy receptionist if i had a copay he said no. It didn't seem right so I double checked with him and the lady next to him said i do have a $30 copay (so i paid). After a week i called to check on my results cuz i didn't see anything posted on my online account and i was informed my doctor was out and that a doctor needed to review my results with me. They tried to schedule me in office but i asked if it can be a call cuz i didn't want to drive down again. June 27 - got the call from the doctor to review my results (still didn't get why i couldn't just get a copy of my results online, my old Sharp doctor would usually just have the results on my app.) About two weeks later (July 7) i receive a bill for $50(or so) so i called them and they advised that my insurance didn't cover my initial appointment and told me i'd have to reach out to my insurance in regards to my confusion so i did. it looks like the insurance and medical office settled something because the app showed i only owed $30 after a few weeks (July 28) so i paid for it. Aug. 8 i see another bill for 2 different dates for a total of $60 so i called again and the lady on the phone said it was for my first appointment (which i recently just paid for) and my video call (video call that shouldn't have even happened if they didn't mess up on one of my test results). They're literally charging me for everything even if it's a mistake on their end.

Being new to the Temecula area after several decades in Chicago, I was in need of a new Dr to oversee my regular health and physical wellbeing. Was referred to Dr Hizon, and with his background in sports medicine, I felt it would be a good fit. I had been experiencing sever back and leg pain for several months making walking and exercising very difficult and painful. I have had several spinal surgeries, resulting in spinal fusion from L1-S1, but had been generally well for over 10 years, no major health issues, and other than the back and occasional knee pain (63 yo with back and arthritis issues, but still very active and mobile, until recently), was in decent shape, according to my Dr in Chicago. At my appointment with Dr Hizon, cannot call it a evaluation or consultation, as he did neither, I was told in general terms that I was going to die if I did not take care of myself, and "would be bad for his reviews". Was told that I was running out of body parts, and needed to change my lifestyle and begin a severe keto diet, with absolutely no carbs, needed to walk at least 10k steps/day (which I was doing until the recent back and leg pain and the reason for needing to see Dr Hizon) and start Pilates, and follow his videos and diet plans and apps. Was ordered extensive blood work and lab test to give him a baseline of my health. Never examined me, never asked me questions, just saw a 63 year old man in pain and decided I was in declining health. Scheduled a video call for a follow up a few weeks out, and I had to travel for a friend's medical emergency, and was the day of my friends procedure, so I had limited time before heading to the hospital. I logged on at 9:45am for a 10am call, at 10:15 I called and explained that I had to leave with my friend for the hospital at 11:00. They explained that once Dr Hizon arrived, he would call me back, no more than 10 minutes. About 30 minutes later, in the hospital and unable to use my cell, I was told that I was reschedule with his nurse practitioner at 1, even though I specifically told them I would not be available the rest of the day. At 1:15 I again received a message and was told I was rescheduled for 4:20. It has been 2 weeks since this all happened and I have yet to hear back from Dr Hizon or his office, neither through the patient portal or a call or an email, nothing. Turns out my results were all good, even better than last year. Have since sent my doctor the results and had a video call with him to discuss the results. I cannot recommend a Dr that asks not a single question of his patients and evaluates you without any examinations. A doctor that uses fear to intimidate and scare his patients into doing as he wants. I saw another Dr in Temecula with my in-laws, prior to my initial "meeting" with Dr Hizon, her first words were " he hasn't retired yet?", that should have been a warning to do my proper due diligence on him, as we all should.

Despite having documented imaging (MRI/CT) of a back injury, the treatment feels dismissive. They lack flexibility with appointments and seem more focused on billing for notes and redundant vitals than on patient comfort or resolution. They even lost the record of a previous telehealth visit I had with the doctor. Once my current treatment is over, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid this office if you want to feel heard and respected.

She's knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and has a remarkable ability to really listen, ask the right questions, and explain things in a way that's easy to understand. I've never once felt rushed during an appointment, which is incredibly rare these days. She takes the time to look at your entire medical picture, making sure you're up to date on screenings, recommended tests, specialist referrals, and everything in between. Her thorough, proactive approach gives me great confidence that nothing is being overlooked. The only downside to the practice is that they don't offer a patient portal. That said, Dr. Holzer and her staff more than make up for it with their outstanding responsiveness and follow-up.
