My fiance couldn't say enough good things about Dr. Gilbert. After the appointment he even called his mom who is looking for a new eye doctor that she needs to come and see Dr. Gilbert. The tear in the eye ball was almost star shaped and he performed a marathon surgery for 6-7 hours straight starting at midnight to stitch it up. I have always been to him for all my yearly eye checks. He has all the sophisticated tools for eye examination. He does a thorough check. I would recommend the yearly complete eye check only if your insurance covers it fully as it is very expensive. He also has an optometrist at Medina eye to order the contacts or glasses.

This is a review of Overlake Optical at the Eye Clinic of Bellevue…read more Overlake Optical Shop was the first place that was able to create a pair of eyeglasses that I could actually wear for multiple uses. I've gotten other progressive (multifocal) lenses from other optical shops, but they were never quite right. The Overlake Optical Shop listened to my issues and resolved them by finding stylish frames that were able to accommodate the right lenses. Apparently there are different types of lenses which are better for different types of vision problems - who knew!? (Apparently, the other optical shops didn't...) If you want to be assured of the highest quality product provided by an optical staff with the knowledge, patience and expertise to assure that you can see the best that you can see - give them a try. If you are a patient at the Eye Clinic of Bellevue or their Mercer Island clinic you can get your prescription fulfilled in-house (both locations have an optical shop).

Finally had enough harassment by the Billing Department of the Eye Clinic of Bellevue…read more Even though I had eyelid surgery, scheduled in a few weeks, to correct inadequately done surgery from last year, I walked away from this fine medical clinic. Then the Billing Department started sending DUNNING texts to me at all hours of the day, night and even on weekends. When I called and asked for the bill, the clerk said, "oh it has not been sent out yet". The last straw was getting a DUNNING text in the middle of dinner last week at 7PM stating I owed $20. None of these HUGE amounts of $100 and of $20 dollars had even been billed and even going by the DUNNING texts were over 16 days old. The Eye Clinic of Bellevue has lost a loyal (VERY PROFITABLE $32K for two droopy eyelids) patient due these OUTRAGEOUS billing tactics! I have let all of my friends, associates and clients to avoid this crazy place that practices sending DUNNING for bills not even sent out. I can only imagine what they do if someone is actually late.

Two Weeks Post Op…read more Life-Changing Experience Despite My Fears! Let me start by saying I was extremely terrified about getting LASIK. I have an intense fear of anything near my eyes, and while I understood it was a laser and not a needle, the thought of something going wrong or even going blind (even though I know the risks are minimal) had me so anxious. I have lived with very poor vision my whole life (-8 in one eye and -7 in the other), and I knew that if I didn't act soon, I might not be a candidate for LASIK later. My heavy prescription glasses had been unchanged for years and limited my frame options, so I finally decided to face my fears and go for it. Even that morning, I was still scared out of my mind. I'm so glad I scheduled an early morning appointment because the staff was amazing from the moment I arrived. The doctor was an absolute superstar--he explained every step of the procedure as it was happening, which helped keep me calm and still. They even had someone stand by to offer me a squishy stress ball for my nervous hands! The whole team made me feel supported and reassured. The surgery itself was fast, and I followed all the aftercare instructions to the letter. I went home, took a nap, and diligently used my eye drops (antibiotics, lubricating drops, etc.) every 15 minutes, as directed. For the first four days, I minimized screen time and took it easy. Now, two weeks later, I couldn't be happier with my results. My vision is incredible, and my eyes feel great. I've had minimal dryness (using drops four times a day as recommended) and no infections. Wearing goggles to bed with an airplane neck pillow was a lifesaver for me as a side sleeper during the first week. I also invested in individual-use eye drop vials--they're super convenient, hygienic, and sting-free. A couple of tips: * I used a special heat face mask that didn't put pressure on my eyes but provided heat at night before bed, game-changer for comfort! * I avoided makeup entirely for the first 2 weeks and got a special, eye-safe brand recommended by my main optometrist for when I finally did wear makeup. If I had to nitpick, my biggest complaint was the discomfort from the protective contact lens they place after surgery. It felt like having an eyelash stuck in my eye until it was removed at my follow-up appointment only in the one eye, but the relief was instant once it was out! Also, showering during the first week was a bit tricky since you have to avoid getting water in your eyes. Overall, the experience was life-changing, and I am thrilled with the results. If you're scared, I promise the care and professionalism of this team will help put you at ease. I can't recommend them enough!

Sharp Vision in Renton and Bellevue, Washington, is absolutely FANTASTIC…read more I called them on June 9 and was able to get in the very next morning at 9:00. I went through the preliminary testing and explained what I wanted. I wanted monovision because I had done that before with contacts, and they told me, "Yes, we can do that." They put me through the testing, and the next day I met with the surgeon. He said, "Sure, we can do this for you. No sweat." That was exactly what I needed to hear. I was scheduled for the following Tuesday for my first eye, had the procedure done, and went back the next day for the follow-up. Everything was healing nicely. The one thing I really want to say is that everybody -- the doctors, the receptionists, the scheduling staff, the people on the phone, everyone -- was FANTASTIC. This outfit is the greatest. If you need eye surgery, LASIK, cataract surgery, or anything else Sharp Vision provides, do yourself the biggest favor and go there first. I highly, highly recommend Sharp Vision for all of your eye care needs.

Before my surgery, I was quoted a price weeks in advance and paid it in full. Unfortunately, I wasn't a candidate for LASIK, which was disappointing, but Dr. Schmidt was able to perform the procedure manually instead. Since the LASIK portion wasn't done, I was told the procedure should have cost about $2,000 less. At my follow-up appointment, I didn't see Dr. Schmidt. Instead, I saw another doctor after waiting nearly 40 minutes for an exam that lasted less than five minutes. When I asked about the $2,000 difference, I was told that I actually owed an additional $900 because a deductible had been applied after my original quote. This was extremely frustrating. If I had been informed before surgery that my out-of-pocket cost would increase by $900, I could have planned and budgeted accordingly. Instead, I was given one price, paid it upfront, and then was surprised with an unexpected bill afterward. The medical care itself was great, but the lack of transparency and communication about billing left me very disappointed.

The paperwork wasn't too lengthy and what is refreshing is that both the receptionist and the doctor referred to it! HA! Yes, it's a huge pet peeve of mine when I get asked the same questions after taking the time to complete it. I do know that they may confirm the information by asking again, and I know the difference. I was 10 minutes late and I ended up still waiting around 20 minutes. I understand that sometimes things run late, and if the shoe was on the other foot, I'm sure you would say that the doctor took his time explaining things to you. So I was really fine with that. Waiting area is tidy. The actual visitation room has a chair with a nasty dirty stain on it. Couldn't help noticing that a computer monitor was not a flat screen and it was still one of those old school ones. Still functional, I'm guessing. Let's get to what's important: Dr. Morton has a fabulous bedside manner. I felt at ease and very comfortable when he explained my condition in detail. I like to understand things and he's great at breaking down the root cause and next steps. I get the sense that he is very kind, humble and extremely knowledgeable. Don't expect your prescription to be emailed anywhere. You get a nice handwritten note. I kinda like that. At checkout, the person at the reception had already reviewed my questionnaire and had answers for me! I loved the efficiency of this person! This place may not have the latest gadgets and the high tech ambiance, but I left feeling that I was in good hands and I'll be A-OK! I highly recommended Dr.Morton. Don't shop around. Go see him!!
