Writing this on behalf of my mother who has never encountered a worse doctor. Zero stars, really. First, she waited 2 hours just to be seen. She was bounced around from room to room. Appointment was at 11:15 and she wasn't seen until 1:15. No one offered an apology. Reading other reviews it sounds like this is not uncommon practice in this office that they overbook patients and make them wait for hours. Second, he was very rude and condescending. Didn't say hi or bye. Didn't apologize for the wait. When he asked a question and he clearly didn't get the answer he wanted, he impatiently asked again, without clarifying what kind of answer he was looking for, just at a louder volume. He did not smile or give eye contact the entire appointment. Every time my mom asked him a question, he wouldn't look at her and instead talked with the technician in the room that was hastily typing away on a computer. My mom said the entire time she felt so small in his office. Again, looks like others have felt the same way. Third, when he examined my mom's eye, he pushed her eye so long and so hard, it caused immense pain. Either he is not self aware, or he just really doesn't care. Another thing I saw mentioned in a past review. Fourth, they took pictures of my mom's eyes AFTER she had already been seen and Dr. Gilbert had moved on to the next patient. Not before so the doctor can examine and discuss it during that appointment. And when she asked if the doctor will see it, they gave her a wishy washy answer saying if there was anything wrong they'd call but if there was no problem, they wouldn't call. How are we supposed to know the doctor even examined them? Fifth, their office felt like a pharmaceutical company trying to push products. They provided my mom with a brochure that looked like a spa menu with all the fish oil pills, heat masks, and spa-like treatments. It all felt really sales-y. Yet another thing mentioned in reviews. All in all with the ridiculously long wait, the sales-y product pushing, the illogical order of processes, and most importantly the total lack of bedside manner, my mom was completely mortified and left in more pain than when she came in. Reading the past reviews afterwards proves this wasn't a one off kind of appointment, and I wish I had seen them before she went. It seems like Dr. Gilbert and his office have been running this kind of operation for years which is sad that he still has a patient base. If it wasn't obvious enough, my mom highly does NOT recommend!

I initially went to Dr. Coyle who has since passed away and also Dr. Davis and Dr. Phan. Dr. Phan performed my cataract surgery, and I had an excellent result. She is an awesome doctor and very caring and kind. My husband also sees her, and she has performed surgery on him. The staff has always been professional. When I did not understand one particular bill I spoke with the accountant who patiently listened to me and answered my question. I highly recommend them. Then the Billing Department started sending DUNNING texts to me at all hours of the day, night and even on weekends. When I called and asked for the bill, the clerk said, "oh it has not been sent out yet". The last straw was getting a DUNNING text in the middle of dinner last week at 7PM stating I owed $20. None of these HUGE amounts of $100 and of $20 dollars had even been billed and even going by the DUNNING texts were over 16 days old. The Eye Clinic of Bellevue has lost a loyal (VERY PROFITABLE $32K for two droopy eyelids) patient due these OUTRAGEOUS billing tactics! I have let all of my friends, associates and clients to avoid this crazy place that practices sending DUNNING for bills not even sent out. I can only imagine what they do if someone is actually late.

However, it was 11:30 AM and I still had not been seen by the doctor. I had clearly informed the front desk that I needed to leave by 11:30, yet there was no meaningful update or accommodation. If a practice expects patients to strictly honor appointment times and threatens financial penalties for delays or cancellations, there should be the same level of respect for patients' time. Communication about delays and better schedule management would go a long way. I understand that medical offices can run behind occasionally, but a full hour without being seen -- especially after stressing punctuality in reminder messages -- is not acceptable. I hope Overlake EyeCare takes patient time as seriously as it expects patients to take theirs.

Two Weeks Post Op…read more Life-Changing Experience Despite My Fears! Let me start by saying I was extremely terrified about getting LASIK. I have an intense fear of anything near my eyes, and while I understood it was a laser and not a needle, the thought of something going wrong or even going blind (even though I know the risks are minimal) had me so anxious. I have lived with very poor vision my whole life (-8 in one eye and -7 in the other), and I knew that if I didn't act soon, I might not be a candidate for LASIK later. My heavy prescription glasses had been unchanged for years and limited my frame options, so I finally decided to face my fears and go for it. Even that morning, I was still scared out of my mind. I'm so glad I scheduled an early morning appointment because the staff was amazing from the moment I arrived. The doctor was an absolute superstar--he explained every step of the procedure as it was happening, which helped keep me calm and still. They even had someone stand by to offer me a squishy stress ball for my nervous hands! The whole team made me feel supported and reassured. The surgery itself was fast, and I followed all the aftercare instructions to the letter. I went home, took a nap, and diligently used my eye drops (antibiotics, lubricating drops, etc.) every 15 minutes, as directed. For the first four days, I minimized screen time and took it easy. Now, two weeks later, I couldn't be happier with my results. My vision is incredible, and my eyes feel great. I've had minimal dryness (using drops four times a day as recommended) and no infections. Wearing goggles to bed with an airplane neck pillow was a lifesaver for me as a side sleeper during the first week. I also invested in individual-use eye drop vials--they're super convenient, hygienic, and sting-free. A couple of tips: * I used a special heat face mask that didn't put pressure on my eyes but provided heat at night before bed, game-changer for comfort! * I avoided makeup entirely for the first 2 weeks and got a special, eye-safe brand recommended by my main optometrist for when I finally did wear makeup. If I had to nitpick, my biggest complaint was the discomfort from the protective contact lens they place after surgery. It felt like having an eyelash stuck in my eye until it was removed at my follow-up appointment only in the one eye, but the relief was instant once it was out! Also, showering during the first week was a bit tricky since you have to avoid getting water in your eyes. Overall, the experience was life-changing, and I am thrilled with the results. If you're scared, I promise the care and professionalism of this team will help put you at ease. I can't recommend them enough!

What more could you ask for a doctor?! I moved to Washington a couple of years ago and knew nothing about navigating medical care in a new state. I was frustrated and close to giving up before I found Coho. This practice provided a completely different experience and my opinion is that this is the way health care should be handled by all medial professionals. I would recommend this practice to all of my friends, family, and anyone who is looking for a doctor that actually cares.
