I've been back a couple of times after buying my bike to get it adjusted and Jason has been very patient and has taken all the time I needed to get my bike just right. Another great visit to Outspokin'. I ride a bike they don't sell and I came here to discuss tubeless vs. clincher setup on my road bike. They were very gracious with their time and knowledge share despite my only there to buy tubes, should clincher's be my path. Both their senior mechanic as well as the owner were more than willing to answer my questions and discuss riding experiences. I originally purchased my bike in 2007 or 2008 when Outspokin was in Downtown Woodstock. I remembered feeling comfortable and like they were supportive of helping me find the best bike. I returned in 2021 to have my bike tuned up so I could ride it after a long break. It was $99 for a basic tuneup, which seemed a little expensive, but I have a Specialized with disc brakes and didn't want to mess around. The new location feels much more like they are catering to a higher price range and style of rider. The bike service employee was nice and helpful at drop off, but whomever was working the register when I came to pick up my bike was arguing with a customer over his repair and was totally uninterested in the fact that I was curious about a new bike. It was super unprofessional and awkward. I tested my bike in the parking lot for a second and it was "ok" and I just wanted to leave, so I did. Fast forward 2 weeks and my buddy and I go for a short ride. I tell him something feels off and he takes 1 look at my brakes and can tell they were not properly adjusted. When he points it out what's happening, it is visually obvious to me as soon as I'm not riding. I had to press all the way on the lever to get the pad to touch the disc! Mistakes happen, but this was careless and unforgivable to me after how I left the shop. Maybe since I wasn't spending 3k they weren't interested in my business. I would have expected quality work and some sales acumen based on my first experience, but my old Specialized and I will go elsewhere (which we did) for future work and purchases. It's a long drive and I'd rather be riding my new bike! read more

I went by to look at some bikes and got approved for financing and was able to walk out with the bike I wanted instead of settling for what Coin I had in my pocket. The staff was friendly and helpful and I got the bike I had been looking at for weeks. I will definitely come back when I am ready to upgrade to Full Suspension or carbon handrail. I was able to get all of the essentials I needed for my "Oh-Shit kit" in case I breakdown on the trails. So happy I will now be able to enjoy all the beautiful Mtn bike trails we have in Woodstock GA. read more

We recently put a bike on Layaway here and have been very happy overall! We were lucky to get the one particular bike that our son wanted for more than $100 off the regular price. Ugg... when did bikes get so darn expensive?? The bike was regularly $590 and we snagged it for $460! Their layaway program certainly helped with the hefty price tag. They are holding it for us until Christmas even which is awesome! It's kinda hard to hide a bike ;-) Everytime we speak to employees they are very helpful and great to work with! read more

I visited this shop when I needed a new rear derailleur and they sold me the wrong one. Being new to the sport I was oblivious to the details needed and they failed to ask for any. A while later I figured out it was a 10 speed and I needed a 9 speed. I went in to see what they had to say about it and they seemed uninterested in making it right for me. I would never put my trust in a shop like this again. read more

To my Orbea road bike there for a stuck 105 front derailleur and a rear disc brake that was rubbing. Front derailleur wouldn't shift to top ring. I went there b/c they are an Orbea dealer. Really nice folks but I should have checked their work before I left. The bike could now shift on the big ring but only when engaged in the middle 2 gears in the rear. The brake was better but still rubbed. But I road it like that b/c I didn't feel like schlepping back. Took it to another shop this spring who fixed it properly. read more

This is one of the best shops in the Atlanta area! I live well over an hour away and routinely choose to drive out to see Kevin and his team for any items or issues. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and bring that level of customer service I look for in a LBS. I've been biking for well over 30 years and have spent more than I care to remember on my biking obsession with numerous shops, many of which never really developed any connection or better than average customer service despite spending thousands with them. My experience with Outspokin' was the exact opposite. From my first visit, Kevin took the time to listen to my needs and go above and beyond to get my bike where I needed it to be. Whether it's a question on finding new trails or new components or dialing in my current rig, he and his folks are there to help and have even been able to keep me up and running when I break my bike (which is often) during COVID and the bike parts desert we're all traveling through. Dropped my bike off for some suspension work a few days ago and was lucky enough to meet and talk with Jason. He was SUPER friendly, offered up some great advice, and did not pitch anything more than a basic service/seals until he was able to get into the bike. After chatting with him for a bit I could tell he knows his stuff and was amped to pick the bike up. Couple days later picked up and Jason spent the time to give me some tips on suspension tuning and a quick sag/rebound set up as a starting point. Additionally, offered some advice on adjustments once I get a ride or two in. In addition to the normal quick tips, he took the time to explain a some of the internals and gave some food for thought on a future more in depth tune if I desire. Overall great experience, I feel the money was more than well spent and will go back for more of the service - especially the bits I am not an expert on (e.g. suspension). read more

Things I have experienced the few times I used this business for emergency repair and maintenance (circa 2010-2012) before finding greener pastures: * Being ignored while asking for assistance at the counter (not standing idly by expecting someone to magically appear like some people I read about) * Having the cashier force me to wait while he took a long sales call (Good employees prioritize and place the call on hold). * Given blatantly bad advice as the sales person attempted to upsell their products, presumably because I was riding cheap stuff at the time (college student, go figure). * Price gouged for repair rates. * Having nearly $200 of parts and labor added to my bill for a last minute tune up before a trip without even calling to ask; meaning I was either out $200 by taking the bike or out the cost of the trip in order to make them honest...that's a big deal to me, but it being on a ~$500 bike makes it unforgivable. They made no attempt to apologize or make recompense for their behavior when I called the mechanic out. It amazes me that this business stays afloat, but I guess the trails are just that good. Woodstock has long needed some competition, something I'm sure this shop will actively try to stifle through means other than providing good customer service. read more

We purchased our bikes here last year in October 2012 and they were helpful in selecting the right bike for us. My wife and I were just getting back into cycling so we had many questions and the were very patient in selecting the right bike for us. We purchase lower end Specialzed bikes and they never tried to over sell us. Since then we have taken them in for tune ups and they just make adjustments, called them check-ups and we were on our way. We are very happy with the service. We went to clipless pedals a couple months ago and they helped us through that process as well. I would recommend Kevin and his group anytime. read more

I bought my 14 year old son a new Specialized Pitch. Nice enough bike, but the following is my experience: When we purchased the bike we were told to bring it in once or twice over the first year for a free tune up, such as adjusting brakes, shifting, etc. Two months of neighborhood riding with his friends and front brakes quick working. So, we brought it in for what we assumed would be the tune up. They said the brake calipers were glazed and had to be replaced; fair enough. But they charged us $26 for the brakes. Said my son must have ridden it through a "mud puddle or something." So my first question to the guy robbing me was, "so every time my son rides his mountain bike through a mud puddle, the brakes will fail?" Of course he didn't have an answer because his idiotic response was, well, idiotic. I wrote a professionally scripted, typed, letter to the owner and have yet to receive a response one month later. Wasn't really impressed with how things went in this shop at all. I went in to buy a set of tires to ride around the neighborhood with my boys. The first set of tires that they tried to sell me were $50 a piece. The second set was a little more palatable at half the price. Which i get it but i'm not going to a downhill competition. Then they had a few dogs walking around in the shop that were hanging out around us. One dog was laying on the floor which my son pointed out and quickly after that a man appeared and immediately told us not to touch the dog laying on the floor as he has a questionable temper around people. Now who said we were going to touch the dog and who the hell lets a dog with questionable temper lay around in a store that unfamiliar people visit daily? What about kids? He was telling my son not to touch him. Which he hadn't even gone close enough to touch him. Anyway bad experience. I just wanted to support local business. I don't need the up sales and harassment about dogs that probably shouldn't be there anyways. I was trying to avoid buying online intentionally so that I could support a local business but they just lost me and I'm sure many more after the other reviews I've read. Plus the air of arrogance that you get for not being an avid cyclist. I can't stand that crap. Get over yourselves it's a bicycle! read more

I walked around thinking that surely since they weren't helping any customers that one of them would come over. Well, no one did, and I walked out the door. Don't waste your time here. I've been into this shop 3 times. Each time was a bad experience. I was ignored by sales each time. When I was able to get help, the salesman wasn't knowledgable about the part I needed and sold me the wrong part. I have been in this shop a total of 3 times... and after the 3rd time, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I now drive 12+ miles to Roswell to a bike shop there, as both the service and the sales are far superior. My initial interest was to have them fix/ tuneup an older bike. They did a decent job on the tune up, but the work was not done in the time frame promised, and was more expensive than the estimate. My second visit was to purchase a new bike. I am very tall and really needed to get a bike that fit me. The sales rep did what he could to accommodate me, but ultimately could not get the parts that he promised would change the bike into a proper fitting bike. The third visit was to purchase a stationary trainer. During the visit, I found the owner and told him about my displeasure regarding the bike purchase. His response? "I would not have sold you that bike." HUH? He is the owner, but yet he allowed his salesperson to do something that he would not have done himself? I left the store and have never gone back since. read more
