Moving into the area I was looking for a bike shop to fix and maintain my bike. I was directed to Apalachee, even though it is nearly 30 minutes from my residence. Notwithstanding the distance, I am very happy to have found them. On each occasion I have dealt with them they have been friendly and knowledgeable. They have not tried to push services beyond what I need. They have always delivered as promised! And, certainly not least, their prices are very reasonable. Apalachee Cycle has been a really friendly neighborhood bike shop. Over the years they did a number of upgrades and fixes on my bikes. The staff is really friendly and most of the time caters to your schedule. Say that you want to have your fork replaced? They are more than happy to do it for you and let you watch and learn. Most of the service prices are competitively priced and they won't charge you much for small fix ups. The store is well stocked with all sorts of upgrades and accessories. The prices are pretty much MSRP but you can find good deals here and there. As long as I have a reason to live in Lawrenceville, I will continue to bring my bike by Apalachee Cycle. read more

I found this bike shop online and decided to check it out to see if they could tune up my bike, which let me start by saying, I am an occasional biker. I used their website to check them out, find their location, check prices etc. I drive to the shop in the middle of the day and it's closed and gutted. So I call the number listed. Someone answered and sounded very put off by the fact that I was in Dacula, again address found on their website, and not Winder, then he was rather rude when I told him I had a Walmart bike that needed work. Hello! not everyone can afford name brand bikes. He sad "We only work on Trek bikes" well that is totally different than what their website says and I told him that to which he hung up on me. read more

Every since they relocated to Winder, the staff has been super nice and get my bikes fixed in a timely matter unlike Dicks Sporting Goods in Loganville who has had my bike for 5 weeks and are still not done with it. All it needed was a tune up, gears, and reflectors. But since realizing my bad decision I have took borrowed bikes to Apalachee and they get them done in the same day! Best service of any shop I have been to. I made the mistake of going to another shop to buy my bike, they were incredibly rude. A couple months later I went back to get my first free lifetime tuneup and they were even more rude and condescending than before. I swore then, that I would never give them another dollar. When I went to Apalachee Cycle Bruce was incredibly friendly and quite helpful even though all I needed was a couple tubes. In fact, every time I have been in, no matter who was working, they are always friendly. Any time my bike has needed simple tune ups that would have been covered at the other shop Bruce has done his best to do them for free if possible. I recently bought my wife a new bike and I made sure to buy it from Apalachee Cycle due to their previous service and friendly attitudes. This is my 4th time here. This time they had a friendly person helping me. His name is Andre and helps out on weekends he said. I thought he was the owner, because he was actually knowledgeable. He needs to be the owner! He gave me a nicer tire because mine broke and they didn't have mine in stock and gave me a 20 dollar discount! He was awesome and was out in 7 minutes instead of 15-30 minutes waiting on others. And he checked everything else on my bike too. My bike rack fell off and my bike too and had told him and he took extra care to make sure it was safe. He didn't even know I've had alot of injuries and disabiled so this meant alot to me. Ask for Andre on the weekends. I'm moving my star to 4 because of him but consider it 3 when 3 when he not there. read more

I first came into Apalachee Cycle last September (2014) not having ridden a bicycle for maybe 12 years. The owner and staff were extremely knowledgeable, no-pressure, and willing to help...I wasn't up-sold on anything and decided to go with a hybrid/fitness bike. I live near the Atlanta Beltline and have really taken a liking to biking. I recently decided to upgrade to a road bike and, once again, experienced great customer service here. I know I asked a great deal of questions and they didn't seem to mind; no sense of arrogance here, just good people doing honest business. 5 stars. These guys are the most helpful and friendly guys I have met. Bruce, the owner, will go out if his way to help. I am a 350lb guy worried about breaking everything. Even though I only purchased a middle of the road bicycle (Trek Cobia) Bruce has gone out of his way to make sure I am out and riding as often as I want to. Broken spokes, bottom brackets, etc and Bruce will always give me a fair price, quick service and often will work the initial repairs into a warranty service. My family and I have recently relocated and decided to purchase bikes this summer because of how beautiful all of the local parks and trails are here in Gwinnett county. We were happy to support the local business in our area (Apalachee Cycle). I have never purchased a bicycle before and I had lots of questions in my excitement to get started. Upon entering the store the man working there was assisting another customer with a repair as the customer waited. Long story short, I was in the store for about 5 to 10 minutes, examining all the different types of bicycles. The man who was there working at Apalachee saw that I entered the store, I walked directly in front of him 3 times during that 10 minute time frame and attempted to make eye contact with him. He never said 1 single word to me. Not "good afternoon, hello, how can I help you, I'll be with you shortly, are you looking for something in particular, nothing. I was extremely disappointed because the store was set up pretty nicely and it was conveniently close to my home. I deal with patients and staff everyday and one thing that is so very important is customer service, especially, for our new patients. People have choices, and the service/business you are offering can be done elsewhere. A simple hello would have done me great justice. I would have happily waited for him to assist me. But I am assuming he did not need my business. This is something Apalachee should keep in mind for their future prospective customers. Disappointed DDS read more

I made the mistake of having Apalachee Cycle tune up my road bike. I had not had any difficulty with the shifting before the tuneup but had the cables from both the front and rear shifters become disconnected within 2-3 weeks after the tuneup. They charged me (again) to fix this even though I had spent over $100 to have it tuned up just a few weeks earlier. This repair only had a half-life of above two more weeks before I was back again with another cable problem. They had the nerve to charge me once again. Needless to say, I will never darken the doors of Apalachee Cycle again. read more

I read Groovy B's review and said yes he is right on regarding the lack of interest the owner shows in in clients, especially new ones. This is the closes bike shop to where I live and I would like to patronize it, and I probably will continue to do so. I went there earlier this week to check it out and get some information on accessories and parts. The young man working there was great, helpful, informative. The owner did walk in and I must have been invisible. Not even a comment like hello, welcome, or a nod. Went back later to have some work done on a bike; needed simple tune up and wanted to purchase new pedals. I thought about going to the large national store up in Buford, but it is farther away, even if the prices are cheaper. And I would not be helping my local business. There were two employees in the shop, the young man that was there at my previous visit and another young tech. The latter took care of me, tuned the bike, put on the newly purchased parts and I walked out feeling pretty good about my $130 purchase. Except for one thing. The owner had walked in shortly after I did and that was it. I know he was busy with another client; don't get me wrong. But I was there 40 minutes or so and not so much as a hi, nod, how you doing, or a thanks come again as I left. In a small town area I just think I would just hope that owners have some interest in people walking in their front doors. First off let me start by saying when I have the choice to patronize a business I expect A few things in return 1. Reasonable customer service 2. A fair exchange 3. Clear expectations. From Apalachee cycle I received neither. I'm sure they are knowledgeable in their field, however I can visit Google if I want information on a subject , not paying for service and understanding. they seemed rude at first glance "what can I help you with" , than as I observed other customers being greeted with a warm smile & friendly greeting . I realized I am neither a local or regular at this establishment none the less . I still needed service on my child's bike. I understand this is a cycle shop , but unless they plan to survive off of professional bicycling customers alone or regulars . I'd recommend they treat every paying customer as they would their own Mother , friend etc. As well label merchandise that is say $10,000 as "do not touch " or a child may just treat it as say a bike. Furthermore I left feeling like I'd given my money to a corporation in return for second hand service , than a neighborhood bike shop . Trust me save your money if you have the time. YouTube what you need done & look to Amazon for your bike parts. Thats what I'd do next time, before Ipatronize this establishment again. Peace! read more

I have dealt with this shop for years and get along well with the owner, the wrench is an arrogant annoyance that can't actually fix anything, three times I had the wife's bike to the shop, finally fixed it myself because I was tired of going over there. Bought three bikes, all mid to high end, the last one had so many problems and no resolution I have decided it is no longer worth dealing with the shop. these folks are amazing. took my grandkids bikes to have some work done on them. needed them in a couple of days (was going camping) and they went to work right away. everyone i have met here are really nice and know what they are doing. while camping something happened to my granddaughters bike so i stopped back by on the way home and the young guy (cant remember his name) looked at it and said easy fix. had to pop o ring back into place on back wheel and i was on my way again. i will use them when i need anything from now on. read more

Well some people might think Apalachee cycle repair is great. My service with them has been a nightmare. I had taken a $300.00 mountain boys bike to get repaired. After not hearing from them for a few days I called to see if it was ready. I was told by Bruce Ray that his coworker had "accidentally" given my bike to someone else. This happened over a year ago and I still do not have my bike or any compensation for their error in giving away my bike. I would not recommend this business to anyone. I am a Dacula born and raised person with good morals and would not treat a dog the way I was treated. I have been hung up on several times by this same business. I always support my local businesses; however, this shop will not receive any more of my families business. read more
