These people are great! I took my seven year old nephew in Sunday because he needed new brakes on his bike. My brother had tried to fix it but my nephew was still just crashing himself to stop. We went in and the owners said they didn't have any techs working that day and were backed up for two weeks. The owner started looking online and said he couldn't find the part we needed. A few minutes later he was cutting wires and fixed it himself. He was so incredibly nice to help a seven year old who wanted to ride his bicycle. He got us fixed up and we were charged surprisingly little. My nephew is very active and was fascinated by all the bikes. The owner was very patient and didn't seem upset that I kept having to put bikes up that my nephew had rolled over to show me. If you ever need anything bicycle related, please go visit these kind folks. You can trust them. read more

As promised, here is the review on the shop I went to after my "experience" with another shop in town. I had a shifter problem with my old bike path hybrid. I picked it up this morning and it works great. They took the time to look at it and it turned out to be just some old grease that had dried up and was keeping the shifter from functioning properly. Very minimal charge for the work and great people to deal with. Some shops might have just replaced the shifter, maybe the derailleur too, and charged me a lot more. This will be my go to shop from now on. Highly recommended!!! read more

This place has great customer relationships in making sure the staff are well knowledgeable and committed to meeting your bike needs. They take time to make your sizing is right for rental bikes, or finding the right gear for going on cold, wet, or dark rides. Every year they help make our large bike ride from Athens to Jacksonville happen by answering any questions and making sure we have bought the right equipment and nutrition for the ride. When I first came into Georgia Cycle Sport, without my bike, I inquired about new tires, tubes, and pedals in addition to the basic $60 tune-up. When I brought the bike in the next day, I said that my old tires held pressure and were in good shape after all. I said that I had just decided on the $60 tune-up. When I picked up the bike, I was told that the charge was $190. They had replaced the tires and tubes and pedals. In addition, without calling me to discuss, they also replaced the chain. I was annoyed to say the least. They were going to try find my old tires in the trash to put back on. As there was a strong possibility that the old tires and tubes were damaged in the process, I didn't want them to do that. We negotiated a price of $120 to leave the bike as it was. So, I ended up paying double what I had expected. I don't know if the rear derailleur was adjusted or not. I do know that the visible external shiny aluminum was very greasy. A two second wipe with a cloth would have at least given the impression that the person who worked on the bike, had some pride in their workmanship. As this is an older bike and not at all cool by today's fine standards, it may not have been of much interest to the mechanic who worked on it. There was a valve cap on one tire but not the other. read more

Poor Bike Shop Management Harry doesn't back his work and has poor communication skills and views younger customers as inferior. He started doing work on my bike without asking, then charged me for it, and when it failed the next day he would give refund or fix the issue. Poor service. I recommend Brian at the Hub, much better technician. read more

GCS has the best service and products around! I needed advice and some tools to swap out the groupset on my Specialized Allez. Jeremy, Mac, and Harry gave me excellent advice and made sure my questions were answered. I've only gotten my cassette and bottom bracket swapped from them, but services do not seem ridiculously expensive. There is a nice table on the wall so you know what to expect. I was so impressed I bought my girlfriend a new Specialized Dolce from GCS. They have free tune-ups for bikes bought from them on no schedule. I will definitely be coming back for products and for fixes I can't handle. Who knows maybe a Tarmac will be in my future! read more

Poor customer service! I went to this store as a new rider looking to purchase my first bike for myself. I don't know anything about bikes but I trusted that a bike store would lead me down the right path. I explained to the sales person that I wanted a bike to ride with my two teenage sons on beginner mountain bike trails and I intended to start at Fort Yargo on their trails and see how it went. I went on to tell them that my sons both had mountain bikes. I was sold a hybrid bike and when I took it on the mountain bike trails at Fort Yargo for one ride, it was obvious that the tires weren't the right tires for rolling over roots and rocks. I called the store to inquire about different tires and was told it would cost me about $200 for interchangeable tires. I had already spent over $700 on the bike with tax so that was not an option. I explained the situation to the guy on the phone and he told me to bring the bike in and that I should have been sold a mountain bike for those trails. Needless to say, he gave me back the cost of the bike minus $100 because it was in used condition. I rode it once and On trails I was led to believe it was made for. All of their staff members don't know about different terrain bikes other than the ones they ride. I work in healthcare and I sure as hell hope they don't ever have to see a specialist that knows only a little bit about their condition. I don't think that would sit well with them. Just as me having to pay $100 for a "bike rental" does not with me. read more

Angela L. teaches a great fix a flat bike class. From one chick to another she taught me how to change my rear wheel on my beloved Blue WRD1.1 road bike. I've been cycling pretty heavy for 2 years last ride was Gran Fondo in Greenville SC. Still a novice I appreciated a female perspective. My boyfriend attempted to teach me this over a year ago but got frustrated when I couldn't brute strength the bead out of the wheel. I rented a bike that was defective. The bike broke down after only a few miles. When I took the bike back to let them know, not only did they refuse to accept any responsibility I was told I had to either pay several hundred dollars for the repairs or they would take me to court. Needless to say, I will never use them again. read more

When I bought my bike from them they were great. Then I had to take it in a few months later with an issue-they were not very receptive to fixing the problem. After initially telling me they couldn't get the part, they later tell me they are indeed able to order it. I waited for the promised call back when the part arrived and finally went in after 3 weeks after not hearing from them. It took the guy awhile to remember the problem and then claimed that he had ordered it and that it would magically appear the following week. Long story short, I get the bike back two weeks later with the problem fixed (finally) but with an extremely out-of-true wheel! Turns out the new wheel was a downgrade from the stock wheel I originally paid for. I feel like I was taken advantage of. The thing to do would be to take it back into them but I'm tired of being jerked around. Very unprofessional. Customer service is horrible and these guys are not honest! read more
