On my first visit, I came in to buy candy and ending up browsing. And during that initial visit, I appreciated how many items this store has to offer and how well it's laid out. The patrons and workers take care of this store. I don't know how long it's been open, but it doesn't have the "tired" feel of most discount stores. And it's neat. Things aren't all piled up on each other in any random area; each section is separate and where you would expect to find something it's usually there. I didn't initially think of Deals as a "dollar store" but there are a lot of things that are $1. If I had kids, I come here every other month or so, give them $10 and let them go crazy. And if I were just starting out and not sure of what I needed, I would come here to buy dinnerware, glasses, etc. The prices are comparable to (and in some cases lower than) Wal-Mart and Target, so why deal with the parking and long check out lines of a bigger store? I don't know if I would have ever gone into this store if I wasn't dealing with a "candy jones" but I'm glad I did. This is a typical Dollar General staffed by good people located in a small town. The population of Danielsville is less than 500 people for goodness sake. In almost every city in the U.S. it will be locals shopping in the Dollar Stores not annoying tourists from cities like Atlanta. Just a comment on the first review by James W. If you read some of his other reviews you will see that he does have both a chip on his shoulder and a warped view of the world. He gave a store in Gainesville, GA a lower grade because it was a "pain in the ass" for him to get there and he passed three other store locations on his trip. What do you expect on a drive from Atlanta to Gainesville? He criticized a Target store because his car was towed for being in the lot after store hours. It's always a good idea to check out a reviewer's other comments. Some people write very accurate reviews and some people just like to hear themselves complain.

Across the street from this store is a run down shack with a massive Confederate flag hanging on the side of it. And next to this shack is the next town's fire station. I think that adjacent town ends the moment you get past the fire station, though. Now to the actual store. This store has a pretty good selection. It's not the smallest DG around and it's on the larger side of the ones around the area. It has a big garden section which might be a result of the area that it is in. Most of the customers that I saw were simple Southern white folk. They knew all the employees at the store and everyone seemed friendly. If you're a white man or woman, then this might be the place for you. I'm not saying that you should stay away if you aren't a white man or woman, but I cannot tell you how they would feel about you. If I were certain about their feelings, the store would have gotten a different score based on their attitude, but since I cannot say exactly what they feel, it's a three out of five.
