So many fun memories in the 5+ years we lived only a few minutes from the silver comet trails. We initially went on the trail as a couple and eventually we were a family of 3 on the trail by the time we moved. We walked mostly, but on occasion we rented bikes from Comet Trail Cycles. After many years, I purchased my own bike but it was nice to have the option to rent when walking wasn't thrilling enough. Prices were fair and they have plenty of bikes and trailers and even a double bike! - which is rare. Never experienced bad customer service. I've visited Comet Cycles several times in the past, and have had great experiences each time. The check-in process is pretty easy, you just hand them a photo ID, and then you can go select your bike of choice. There's a great selection of bikes to choose from. If you're not sure of the style of bike to choose, you can ask one of the staff, who are pretty knowledgeable to help you. They can also adjust your seats if requested. I enjoy riding the Silver Comet Trail, as there's some great scenery and you can go pretty far. The bike rentals are $10/hour, and I typically ride for about 2.5 hours. I'd say renting from Comet Cylces is pretty affordable and convenient. Huge parking lot and lots of bikes to choose from. Only thing I wish was different, is the opening time of 10am. I wish they opened at like 7am, so early birds like myself can get in an earlier ride. But hey, beggars can't be choosers. Until I purchase my own bike, I'll keep coming to Comet Cycles! read more

I would not recommend renting or buying from Comet Trail Cycles under any circumstances. Their owner, Jeph, lied and deceived my friend and I, and if for not our outright anger, would have left us stranded 45+ miles away on two defective bikes. We rented two long distance endurance road bikes from Comet Trail Cycles with the intent of doing a 110 mile ride on the Silver Comet Trail. Within 40 miles we had our first flat. Over the course of the next 10 miles, we would have 6 total flat tires occurring on all 4 of our tires. We received help checking and reinstalling inner tubes from a handful of experienced bikers on the trail, yet every time we found ourselves with another flat. The utility kits the bikes came with had one inner tube in each, and minimal supplies to repair a flat. We had already run out of the provided inner tubes and C02 canisters to inflate them. So, after flat tire 2 out of 6, we went to a nearby Walmart to buy more inner tubes, a hand pump, more C02 canisters, and lights to put on the bikes as we now knew we'd be biking back in the darkness. After popping all the replacement inner tubes we had bought from Walmart we knew this was not simply bad luck, but something was wrong with the bikes, so we called Comet Trail Cycles for help, now being stranded 45 miles away. Originally the store wasn't going to do anything to help us and wanted to leave us deserted on the trail. They eventually gave us the phone number of a random individual who they said might be willing to pick us up. He didn't answer our calls or texts. After getting more and more upset and calling the store back, eventually the store owner, Jeph, agreed to come pick us and the defective bikes up. Upon returning back to the store, Jeph apologized and admitted there was obviously something going on with the bikes. We told him we had spent just shy of $100 buying replacement tools and parts at Walmart and he kindly offered to pay us $60 for our hassle. Two days later I see my credit card had been charged for $60, not refunded $60. When I called Jeph back to ask him to fix this mistake, he told me that he actually intended to charge me, and that getting flat tires is just part of cycling. So, not only does Comet Trail Cycles rent defective bikes, but they also will lie to you. If you rent from Comet Trail Cycles, just know that Jeph, the store owner, believes that getting 6 flat tires over the course of 55 miles is normal biking practice, and you might find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere on defective bikes. read more

I always appreciate how helpful the staff is at the Comet Trail Cycles. They always have an abundant amount of bikes to rent out for your adventure on the silver comet trail. They also have bikes that you can buy or you can take your bike there for a repair. To rent bikes you have to sign a waiver online using your phone by scanning a QR code on the door. Once that's done you just give them a drivers license to hold and then you're on your way. The rate for about two hours of cycling is $15 per person and that's plenty of time to make it pretty far on the trail. I cycled all the way to Hiram in my two hours. The staff helped pick out the bikes for us and adjusting it to our height and comfort before we were on our way. I definitely recommend if you have friends in town and want to do something different. read more

This place has been here for as long as I've been in GA. I remember renting bikes with my daughter from here when she was a kid. And we still do today! Everything thing has gone up but you can still rent a bike from them for the low low. Well today I found a deal I couldn't refuse with a brand new bike from a thrift store. It was just missing a pedal and the handle bars needed adjusting. Jeff went out of his way to find me a used pedal, adjusted the handle bars and even added air to the tires at a very reasonable rate. He made my day! If you're a true biker, they sell those fancy expensive bikes here. The service is top notch. I highly recommend them. read more

We decided to do Date Day and went to the Silver Comet Trail on a Saturday morning around 10. Be prepared to wait. We waited for about an hour and half but we enjoyed chatting and people watching. I had planned to cycle 100k (30 miles out and back for a total of 60 miles) with Nicole and our little one but just managed about 1/2 that distance. The trail opened up again and it was busy with bikers, runners and walkers. We were riding a cruiser and a mountain bike and although this is an old rails to trails conversion it still had plenty of elevation to keep it challenging. I'll have to conquer this trail on my road bike a little later in the year. Loved all the little pull outs along the way too. read more

To begin off the week I decided to take my son bike riding. School is almost out and I've been trying to do different fun things with him. We decided to go to the Silver Comet trails and since he has his bike already, I had to rent one. The bike rentals are $10 per bike for an hour and for the whole day I believe it's $40, but you can also go to their website just to be sure. The guys are pretty informative and nice. I always rent the bike for an hour because that's about all I can take before my legs starts to hurt lol. read more

Comet Trail Cycles is a quaint, bike store about 10 miles from the trailhead at Smyrna. Their shop sits along the trail and is hard not to notice. Every time I've visited they were friendly and accommodating, willing to fill up water bottles for cyclists passing by. One thing I enjoy about this bike shop more than others is they don't seem gunho about selling you a sponsor bike, and actually take pride in maintaining and restoring older models. I currently ride a beater bike and this was the first shop that said I could still use it and can just make a few upgrades. Great store, they hold weekly group rides, employees are friendly, and the rentals seem reasonable. read more

We were all a bit shocked at the rental price of $10/hr. We kept double-checking to be sure--as that's the most expensive bike rental ever. To be fair, their bikes DO have gears so that's a plus. And of course, helmet comes with it. And the bikes are in slightly newish condition. However, at $10/hr, we felt pressure to limit our riding time, and that prevented me from continuing along the trail as my mission was to return the bike before paying $40 for a bike rental. Imo it's worth it if you plan to bike less than say 2 hrs. Or if you're forced to go biking with someone and don't have a bike. The advantage of renting from this part of the trail is that you get to cross about 2 bridges, you can intersect this little town (which was not open at 11am on a Saturday, strangely) that was probably not worth it, and there's an overpass that's kind of cool, and you will pass a golf course on your left. I can't speak for bike purchases/fixing, I'm sure they're pretty good as other reviews attest. But for a bike rental, that was a bit much. I will purposely avoid starting off at that part of the trail just so I don't go through that again. read more

Great shop! I've only rented from here, a kid trailer to tow my son and my husband rented bikes before he bought one elsewhere. The owner has always been helpful to attach the trailer to my bike. I'm fairly new at riding so did not reconnect my front wheel correctly after taking it out of my car one time, and he put it on for me, no questions asked. They occasionally have vendors outside of the store to sell/market useful products. I think my husband bought his bike elsewhere because their website didn't have much info on what they sold. read more

Tim always works on my new bike upgrading parts and is great, I wanted to upgrade my fork on my new Trex Marlin 6 to an air shock. I called Tim and was telling him about Rock Shox on Amazon that would fit and he said to call the owner Jeff the next day and ask him because a lot of stuff on Amazon could be bootleg. Long story short, the owner Jeff got me a brand new Rock Shox and installed in 30 minutes for less than Amazon wanted for a maybe real one. I love this place and highly recomend it. My daughter and I had the best experience with renting bikes here. First, they answer the phone promptly and are friendly and helpful. They take reservations and don't expect a deposit to hold the reservation. The rental price was very fair, and the bikes and helmets were in excellent condition, the store is well organized and "G" was able to get our bikes out in a jiffy. We rented ebikes for the first time, and they worked great. The Comet Trail itself is a wide, shaded, paved path and it was in perfect condition when we rode, no holes or debris. On the Friday afternoon, there were few other cyclists or pedestrians and the few dogs we passed were well behaved and on leash. It goes through lovely woods, and every time it crosses a street there is a traffic light for the cyclist to push so any cars coming have to stop. We felt very safe and enjoyed the ride immensely. Located right at the intersection of Floyd Rd and the Silver Comet Trail, Comet Trail Cycles has a great location. Comet Trail Cycles is not to be confused with Silver Comet Cycles which used to be housed at this location. However, with that being said the staff here is knowledgeable and helpful. Since, Covid-19 most bike shops have been slammed and they are no exception. As, the line out front can be extremely long with people waiting to purchase bike accessories, pick-up, or for bike rentals...I called to make an appointment to have my bike looked at. For appointments: They don't give a set time, they just call you back and let you know you can come in and have it looked at. (I believe this took a week or so before I received a return phone call.) *not a complaint Covid-19 has increased wait times... I returned with my bike so they could repair the front wheel, which was bent and fix the braking issue I was having. I dropped the bike off and shortly after they called to inform me it was ready for pick-up. The staff answered all of my questions and I was in and out quickly. Overall great experience. Please note: If you're concerned about people wearing masks or not. The staff here doesn't wear masks, most of the people on the trails don't wear masks, and no one is ostracized for their preference. read more

1. I called them on the phone. I had previously looked at google maps for 20 minutes to figure out how far of a bike ride Comet Trial Cycles was from a lake beach front (I'm from out of town). I asked them on the phone "how far" the lake is from their store location. The person on the phone said something to the extent of, "I don't know. We are very busy. Why are you calling and asking for directions for something you can find out on google maps?" I apologized and he reiterated the absurdity of my question. 2. After the phone call (which I had on speaker phone with 2 other people), we looked for other places but Comet Trail Cycles was one of the few places renting bikes during COVID-19. We got there, waited in line, got on the waiting list, and were quoted 35 minutes from when we get the rental bikes. It took closer to an hour. 3. When we got back, we wanted to pay for it. We returned our bikes and waited outside for a few minutes. Then we had to ask someone where to go to pay. They said we could enter the store. We waited in front of the counter for several minutes while they were fixing bikes, but we weren't sure if we were in the right place because no one said anything. Then we asked if we were in the right place. They said something like, "I'm busy right now...." We paid for the bikes and left. The bikes worked well. The person who gave us our bikes and put us on the waiting list was nice. He made sure that my seat was the correct height. Silver Comet Trail was amazing!! Comet Trail Cycles was disorganized and had at least one pretty rude employee. read more

Stopped by the NEW Comet Trails Cycles while riding along the Silver Comet Trail because my bike's fenders were rubbing against my tires and they had a special head on the screw I did not have with me. The new owner of Comet Trails Cycles wheeled my bike into the shop, which is when I realized this is not the same shop that has been at the Floyd Rd trailhead for years. The Shop is open, clean, bright and has just what your everyday cyclist wants. It is much nicer than before. Very open, very inviting. The owner spent about 4 minutes on my bike to fix the fenders and wouldn't let me pay him anything for his time. So I bought a few items (water bottle, clif bars, drinks) from him to thank him. That is when I learned it was his very first day opening the shop. VERY friendly. VERY clean. Fantastic service. Stop in and say hi to the new owner and spend a few bucks to support his small business. read more

I would have been happy to see that someone, anyone moved a new bike shop into the old Silver Comet depot after the former one moved out. I have had my bike serviced there several times, and the people at CTC have done a great job every time. Their service was faster, better, and cheaper than anywhere else I've gone in this area. I was having problems with my bike slipping gears. I stopped into the cycle shop and the guys were so helpful and knowledgeable. They had me all fixed up in just a couple of minutes. It feels that the owner and staff do not like Black people but just tolerate them because they are giving them their money. I went to rent a bike on a busy Saturday. After the long wait, I asked the owner if I could buy a bike. He already looked like he did not want to have a conversation with me. He said with a face to check inside to we what they have. As we're walking in the door he says "Do you have money? Can you afford a bike ?" Basically assuming since I'm black I can not afford their bikes. I have not been back since. I have an old bike which the brakes basically died while on the trail. Left with Comet Trail Cycles and they redid the brakes, straightened the front tire and did a tuneup on rest.
