Cozy vibe the minute I walked in. Asked for a recommendation for a late lunch...the Rachel was suggested. Took a seat enjoying my hot coffee, served in a real mug! The beet reuben is 10/10, my favorite sandwich from anywhere (I prefer it on sourdough). Truly cannot understand the poor reviews.. Loved the Outpost!! Visited from out of town and wish I could have come here every day. It has such cute decor and goods to buy, and the food was awesome. We got the BEC breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito, the dark chocolate brown butter sea salt cookie, the ginger molasses cookie and two decaf iced brown sugar lattes. Burrito was incredible, breakfast sandwich was very good but the sauce gave it a little kick, cookies were incredible and lattes were good but didn't stand out. We paid $53 with tip but we got a lot and ended up pretty full. read more

Cool ambiance, but chairs are not comfortable in the front half. The back half has cushioned seats. There are outdoor seats too. We sat in the front window area to enjoy the ac and people watch. The chai latte wasn't very good. It was bland. I wish the hot tea was steeped with the loose leaves in a real mug. There is food available. Free street parking on Sundays. read more

My favorite coffee shop in Traverse City. It's located downtown, I have never had an issue with parking. I'm sure it can get a little tricky with summer time, but each time I've found a shop out front. I love their Cortado. Their espresso is very tasty and it tastes very smooth and creamy when complimented by milk. When I don't want milk I get an americano or even their drip coffee tastes good. Those who need milk alternatives there's oat and pistachio. Got to say pistachio wins over oat in taste at least. Got a pistachio milk matcha and it's so creamy and the pistachio milk really blends well with their matcha. My husband likes an iced latte with pistachio milk. I've tried a lot of their pastries now. I think a good ol butter milk croissant is still my number one. I tried a sandwich and it was very good. You can tell their pastries are good quality. I see they sell The Mill baking products so I wonder if they use their ingredients from the shop or get pastries delivered. Either way it's delicious! You know this shop is good when I get home and come in with an Outpost coffee and my family says, "You went to Outpost without us?" I'll keep supporting this shop! Small place you order up front - not a lot of seating. Partook in chicken noodle soup, Reuben and chicken sandwich. Soup was ok albeit reported to be salty; Reuben had lots of mayo which overwhelmed any ability to taste the cheese; chicken was ok. We popped in here this past weekend while enjoying some shopping on Front street. We had their coffee and breakfast and it did not disappoint. We tried a few things, their brioche with egg and bacon on it and their sandwiches on a crusty baguette sandwiches (veggie and ham) were standouts. The ham sandwich was kid approved! Service was fast and we had lovely interactions with the folks working. Inside it is super cute and chic, (it's a pop-up in partnership with The Mill Glen Arbor and Panther Coffee Traverse City) there are only 2 barstools at the window however there is plenty of seating outside. read more

Went on a Sunday for breakfast since all the sit downs were packed, so we expected to wait but as a quick casual option the wait was way too long. Waited in the order at the counter line for 20 min and then another hour for a toast and 2 sandwiches. They were also already out of eggs and avocado at 10am... coffee options were simple and just okay (no syrups, spices, or seasonal options). I questioned why my latte was $11 and was told "there's a million other places you can go get a coffee, you are welcome to leave" the cashier was so rude and condescending and then laughed in my face when I told her that her response was really rude and that it's okay to question a charge. Latte tasted scalded and burnt. I'll never come back here. Worked in the service industry for 15 years and I've never spoken to someone like that before. read more

Make sure to ask if food has nuts, or any other allergens, didn't realize the overnight oats had pecans in it until it was already purchased. Signs do not always give price and no signs list any allergens. Iced chai was fine, no other milk other than whole milk. read more

When the Outpost was a popup, the food was good and made with care. Specifically the Herb-EC sandwich. The bun was grilled, and it was assembled carefully and very good. I order this sandwich frequently, and now the bun is grilled about 20% of the time, the eggs are cold in the middle more often than not, and its wrapped up like a sloppy mess akin to a McDouble thats been sitting around for 12 hours. You guys know how to make these well, because you did before! Take some extra time for the prices your charging, comon! Whats the point of fluffy brioche if it's completely smashed? Bring the paper sleeves back to prevent this. read more

The Outpost is the former Brew on Front St in Traverse City. Currently owned/operated by the folks from The Mill in Glen Arbor. When Outpost took over they lost more than every single one of their managers/decades long employees, as we lost a truly local gem. Outpost had to refocus after that mass management exodus, creating a new iteration, menu items were lost (like the gluten free breakfast sandwich), while a new menu was crafted, the space amped up/made to look like every other millennial run coffee shop on the east coast. All good, we'll take it. But, in their zealousness, they have not figured out how to manage food availability. We have been here multiple times. Most recently in October, we wanted the fluffy egg sandwiches at 9:30 am, prime breakfast hour. They were out of the fluffy eggs, which is the main component of 2 of their top breakfast features. They were out of other things, too, but we were focused on the fluffy egg sandwiches, so we said we'd wait(30 minutes). The sandwiches were tasty and the eggs were fluffy, but was it really worth it? We both ordered lattes; mine was a mocha. I asked them to remake it as it was mainly milk. I'm not sure if it was a training thing or if their beans are so mild, but it was the worst mocha I have ever had, followed by the remade mocha, which was the 2nd worst mocha I have ever had. I read today in the Ticker that Outpost is adding new menu items & changing things up. This place has had easily 3 now 4 changes in its short life. I thought it was strange that the guy behind the counter was taking orders, printing them out, then physically running it back to the kitchen. Like computers that have a printer in the kitchen isn't a thing? Waste of time, adds to the lengthy lines and discombobulation. The fluffy eggs are good, focus on the items that people want, make them available in a timely manner, and add some staff. And figure out why the mochas taste so bad. read more

Went for coffee and breakfast the other day around 8:30am. Only coffee was available, no food except overnight oats. The staff said nothing had arrived yet. So just got coffee and sat at the front table and waited for an hour for some kind of breakfast to show up. By 9:30 still nothing. So we left. Not impressed. read more

But 4 of yall yelling the name in a 1 minute time frame is a bit excessive and then laughing about it is unnecessary. If you like good strong coffee this is not the place for you. We went on a Sunday morning and they were extremely busy. The line did move at a good pace and we figured it was worth the wait. It's a simple menu, and that's fine. We thought simple meant they knew what they were good at and kept it that way. My husband and I ordered a mocha and got hot chocolate for the kids. The hot chocolate was good and our kids enjoyed it. We were very disappointed in our coffees. At first I thought my husband grabbed someone else's order since I didn't taste the mocha or any coffee. However when I tasted his it was the exact same. It felt like they forgot the espresso. Zero coffee taste and zero energy. Our friends ordered an extra shot in their coffee and had minimal coffee taste as well. Overall it could've been a fluke because they were busy, but I feel like consistency is what sets a place apart. With so many coffee options around I would not recommend this place. read more

The avocado toast was good, but comes with two hearty pieces you could share (which is a good thing) but I ordered too much. The person who waited on me was so rude, when I sat down with my friend, she said gosh, that person was rude to me. When I came home I told my son and daughter we went to the Outpost and both said they would never go back because the person that waited on them was so rude. Used to go to Brew and loved it, this place has since opened in its place, the staff seem aloof. They forgot part of our order when we were the only people in the shop. Their interaction with other customers coming in and out seems like they are inconvenienced by them and we watched numerous customers just walk out without ordering because of that interaction.
