I love this downtown location! Right in the middle of downtown. Lots of space to sit if you want to. They have comfy chairs around their fireplace and lots of tables. I love their nitro cold brew with lavender cold foam but they also make other cold foam flavors. The consistency of their foam is better than Starbucks. It's always consistent and creamy. I also love their more naturally made pumpkin lattes for fall. I buy their beans for my home espresso machine. They're constantly roasting beans so they're always fresh. I love the Guatemalan and Golden Espresso but you can't go wrong. They are community focused and invested donating to many local causes and are committed to providing a public downtown bathroom, which is such a nice thing to do as they get so much traffic and there aren't many bathrooms downtown. They also have a changing table in the back room. I love that they stock local bakery, Nine Bean Row, pastries--the croissants sell out early in the day. read more

There are some coffee shops you go to for a meticulously measured pour over cup of coffee made with fair trade beans roasted in house and sourced from a remote farm in Costa Rica. No cream. No sugar. Black to allow the flavor profile of the beans to shine. Then there are some coffee shops you go to and gleefully order a sugary flavored latte or cold brew in flavor combos like like "caramel hazelnut fudge" and "s'mores cream" and you have a most wonderful sugar and caffeine rush. And, while Espresso Bay does roast their beans and source single origin beans from around the globe, I find them falling more into the latter coffee shop category for me, gravitating towards the "fun" drinks here. It's hard to resist when they have options like peppermint chip, cherry truffle, or almond joy. The shop itself is really spacious and filled with cute decor and seating. It gets a little more crowded in the summer of course, but that's compliments of their perfect location right in the heart of the main shopping drag in Traverse City. If you're not a coffee drinker or you've caffeinated enough for the day you can also enjoy a fruity smoothie or some kombucha on tap. They've also got a nice offering of pastries and snacks if you're feeling peckish. read more

Espresso just meh with just not strong enough flavor nor body that I'm used to - scones were also at best unremarkable. Pour over was weak as well. Not sure if this is what the clientele wants but certainly not what we're accustomed. Nice staff up front - just mediocre offerings. read more

We tried two cherry coffees. Both iced. One was a mocha cherry truffle and the other was cherry blossom latte. they were both fantastic, though I preferred the mocha truffle one. Great service. Everything was clean. And again the coffee was just what we needed to get moving in the morning. They had some ice cream flavored coffees up front that sounded tasty too, wish we'd bought a bag. Needed an afternoon pick me up, so we stopped at the Expresso Bay which is right in the heart of downtown. Easily visible on the corner. Good number of places to sit and longue. High ceilings but still a cozy feel. The order counter can get a little tight with people coming in and waiting in line. Staff were friendly. At the time we were there they only had card available, so not sure if that is always the case. Their menu is very visual with the type of coffee/teas they offer, along with smoothies. I ordered a pumpkin cream cold brew. The cream was delicious and the coffee was smooth. read more

Boy howdy, these coffee drinks are sweet! If you like a cup of candy in the morning, this is the place for you! Everyone behind the counter is super nice, very efficient, great with any special requests. They get so busy and there's not much space to stand while waiting to order, but the line moves fast. They have restrooms in the back and lots of comfy spots to chill with your coffee, tea, smoothie, etc. read more

Coffee so lame I threw it out. Pretty much gas station cappuccino machine quality. Kind of tasted like warm cappuccino flavored water. Do yourself a favor and walk a couple blocks to Mundos. Honestly the worst cappuccino I've had in a long time. read more

We loved EB so much we went twice over the course of our weekend trip. Lattes were perfectly well made, super flavorful, and I LOVE that they're able to make some flavors sugar free! Plenty of cozy seating scattered throughout, with room for my toddler to play as well! A very family friendly establishment. They have super cute single serve coffee packets in a million different flavors, so we picked up quite a few of those to brew at home. The owners are quite literally the sweetest people, and all staff we interacted with were so joyful talking to my toddler (this is so important to me and not found often!!!!). Needless to say, so happy we stopped by! Next time we're in TC, we will happily return :) read more

Sadly this coffee shop is losing all appeal. The staff are poorly dressed and look like they crawled off the beach. The layout is cluttered and the floors filthy. Scones are never fresh and I am sorry that the place isn't amazing given its great location. They could really improve the place by cleaning it up and requesting the staff dress a little more professionallay. read more

Stopped in and ordered a couple of drinks. A mocca coffe and a cinimon spiced tea. Both were served hot. The coffee was a super and it tasted like the proportions were made for a smaller cup. While the cofee flavor was easy going, there was not much mocca flavor. The tea was worse. When it finally cooled down, it had hardly any smell or taste. We took it back to the counter and asked about that, the young lady took a spoon and swirled around and found no tea bags. All we had was hot milk and a lot of water since this was a super also. So for $12 we got a cup of milk/water and a cup of watered down coffee. I paid with a CC and there was a spot to make comments on the email receipt. I replied and voiced my concerns and recieved no response. As a long time Yelper, I would be amiss if I didn't share this review. The tea issue was addressed by the young lady with the spoon by remaking the drink but I'm not 100% sure the proportions are correct since even the remake, hardly had any flavore even after the remake. Certainly not worth $12. I don't know if they had a bad day or what but there are other coffee shops in the area and since I've heard nothing back, I'm concerend that either the ownership does not check their feed back or is not concerned. It just looks chill and comfy. See pics. Part of consumption is what you see and this one looks delicious. By the way the coffee is perfect. Most places basic coffee is too strong- this one is Goldilocks. The mocha has the creamy chocolaty taste that lingers after your first sip. And this one taste like real chocolate not Chocolate syrup. Great coffee, great pastries, cheerful service, great location, one warning: the cherry flavored coffee. I'm a tourist, I purchased some bags to bring home as gifts. Seemed nice novelty items. The local fellow I had business meetings with said, "oh yeah, I did that once...". I knew that was a warning given too late. I'm posting a photo of one of the bags I carried home on the plane. The recipient of the gift said, "wow this tastes like some public restroom sanitizer." I have to acknowledge, whatever they use to add the flavor of cherries- sure smells like cherry and sure tastes like some chemical compound I'd rather not drink. Love to try local coffee shops as I travel. This one gets top marks. I had a great Chai tea - nice flavor I hadn't had before. The inside is really nice with a lot of tables to sit and big windows to people watch or just enjoy the light. Read my book and chilled. They also have a cute little shop where i found a snoopy mug I had to have. A little of coffees and teas to buy. The staff today was beyond great and friendly. I think I like Michigan! read more

We were early for our brunch reservation and stopped in for a coffee. I tried the pumpkin pie latte and being a pumpkin spice fan, I absolutely loved the pumpkin pie spices in the delicious fall latte. I also tried their blueberry scone which was perfectly soft and buttery on the inside and firm on the outside. It was pretty busy but nevertheless finding a seat in the eclectically decorated coffee shop wasn't an issue. Came here for a quick coffee and breakfast. Was very happy because it's one of the only coffee places open for dine it. The place is pretty big with lots of seating. I got the skinnie Minnie smoothie and it was delicious and refreshing. The coffee tasted great. My husband got an everything bagel and it was surprisingly really good. It can be a hit or miss getting bagels at coffee shops but this was so good and tasted fresh. I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

BEST LATTE EVER. I'd consider myself a latte connoisseur, and this place was amazing! Saw their sign said "CBD AVAILABLE," and I thought "no way are they serving CBD LATTES???!!!" Stumbled upon this coffee shop while I was in the area, and as soon as I walked in I was excited! The list of drinks is a little overwhelming, but that's a good issue to have. They also offer some pastries, bakery items, and some tea's. The atmosphere is also very welcoming! I went on a Sunday morning and they were busy, but the line didn't take long. The service was nice and they are one of the few places that let you use their bathrooms which is a plus for the area.
