Highly recommend asking for her! The menu made choosing difficult because everything sounded delicious. There were plenty of seafood options, plus several great choices for our daughter who doesn't eat seafood. She ordered the grilled chicken entrée and fried mozzarella sticks and gave both a big thumbs up. My husband had the BBQ shrimp with an ah-maze-ing sauce that absolutely stole the show. We dipped everything in it--the cheddar biscuits, my hushpuppies, and even my fried catfish and soft shell crab. It was so good that I brought the extra sauce home with my leftovers and couldn't wait to eat them later that night... and I'm usually not a leftovers person! Long story short: definitely go, order the seafood, and ask for Emily!

So after many decades I finally pulled off the highway and went to Atchafalaya Seafood. The restaurant was MUCH larger than I thought it would be and it was also quite crowded and the customers all seemed to be enjoying themselves here. The overall ambiance of the space was pretty energetic with lots of folks coming and going. So I got a seafood gumbo to start and the grouper for my main course. The seafood gumbo was the best I've had in Mississippi but not quite up to Louisiana standards but VERY close and far closer than the all the Alabama soups they call "gumbo" I've had with the exception of the gumbo at Tamara's Downtown in Fairhope which actually can be the only place in Alabama that serves what I would call a gumbo so far. The grouper dish was simple but very tasty and served with some nicely done veggies so it was a refreshing and healthy dish I found quite pleasing. Overall this is best seafood I've ever had in Mississippi.

We pulled into the Picayune/Bay St. Louis area and stumbled across this restaurant. We have only "Great" things to say about it. The service is professional, efficient and the restaurant is exceptionally clean and well organized. Their sauce has a depth of flavor rarely experienced outside Italian communities like New York & Chicago. Their pizza crust and their pizza sauce, makes for a GREAT Super Supreme and their price point, on their pies and others dishes: i.e. Lasagna (marinara and their meat sauce), have a sharp hardy flavor. Their selection of entrees are more then most restaurants and the food presentation doesn't disappoint, professional white dishes, linen table clothes. The only things missing were a jukebox in the corner and a waitress on roller skates calling me "hon." Frostop is pure nostalgia -- no filters, no fluff, just good food and better vibes. It's the kind of place that makes you half-expect the Fonz to walk out and give you a thumbs-up. Now, the food. Let's just say if flavor could wear a leather jacket, this shrimp po' boy would be James Dean. The shrimp were fried to absolute perfection -- crisp, golden, and light enough that you don't need to call your cardiologist afterward. The batter had zero oil slick, which is rare enough to deserve its own holiday. The onion rings? Crisp enough to make that satisfying snap when you pull them apart -- not a greasy drip in sight. And those crinkle-cut fries? Cooked just right -- golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and salty enough to make you reach for another sip of that sweet tea (which, of course, was the real deal -- sweet, cold, and dangerously refillable). My colleague went for the burger po' boy and hasn't stopped talking about it since. The man looked genuinely emotional for a second -- like he'd just reunited with a long-lost friend. Oh, and the prices, ridiculously low! Maybe not from the sixties, but definitely not from this decade either! If you find yourself anywhere near Picayune, do yourself a favor and pull over. Frostop isn't just lunch -- it's a mini vacation back to a time when food was simple, service was friendly, and nobody cared about counting calories.
