The flavor profiles can be so diverse and deliciously contrasting, every bite we take, we look at each other and simply cannot resist saying "O.M.G, so freaking good"! Our go to favorites are the Assassin, Independence, and the Rip Curl. My son swears that Nobu downtown New Orleans has the best quality ingredients for nigiri or sashimi lovers, but if you like great quality ingredients with a flavor adventure in every bite with your specialty roll selections, Koi's for the win. Do not sleep on this place, Slidell. Service is consistently great here as well. Friendly, timely, efficient, and we've seen similar faces for years now, which only helps validate this place is truly special. However, the whole experience has gone downhill since the pandemic. Long list of disappointments. The portion sizes are smaller. They don't offer brown rice any more. In general the food is just not as good as it used to be. Consequently, we don't get food from here regularly or often. It saddens me because this was a favorite place that I would recommend to people. One personal peeve - in the past, I could call in an order and it was ready when I got there. Lately, I call in an order and then I still have to wait once I get there. Based on the timing, I think they don't even start cooking it until I show up. On the other hand, while I am waiting around for my phoned-in order, there is a steady stream of people coming in to pick up their (presumably) phoned-in orders. So maybe it's just me.
