This hardware store is very close to home so we do frequent it a lot. Today we came in for salt for a water softener, and as we were walking back towards the left side of the store, where the water softener lives we passed a very cute, rustic, looking rocking chair. Eventually after browsing, we made it back to the rocksalt area... And we were met by Chris a manager who said that the salt is on back order, but will be here Friday. Throughout the entire conversation, he was happy, and composed, and extremely helpful. We asked him a question about the rocking chair that we passed and he said it might be on sale. If they don't have that one left in stock, we can actually take that one off the floor. He offered that because we asked for that one, so I didn't have to put it together! He understood why we wanted the assembled one. He ran back to the back room and checked, and the one on the floor was the only one left so we would get it for a discount he said. He checked and then said...said we are going to give you $50 off! We didn't even ask that yet! This made our day as did the thorough explanation about the rock salt being not being available but explaining about shipping rotation that will be happening in the future to avoid depletion of their stock. Next thing Dave walks out to our car and helped us get the chair into the car. " A hatchback". His help is greatly appreciated and again we did not ask for help they just volunteered. Outdoor Supply Hardware is located in the same building as the former chain store Orchard Supply Hardware, which had locations in California, Oregon and Florida. The store's layout is very similar to the previous merchant. The interior is much brighter, cleaner and more welcoming then it used to be. Most of the departments are in approximately the same location as in the previous store. If you are familiar with the last merchant, you should be able to find merchandise easily. OSH's garden department has a nice supply of outdoor plants, pottery, statuary and fountains. They offer soils/amendments, mulches as well as other landscaping needs. There is a check-out register in the garden department without having to go inside. This store is well organized, and their employees are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Prices are a bit higher than you'll find in warehouse hardware stores. The service one receives is sometimes worth the extra cost. read more

We searched high & low locally (and outside SLO County as well) for a cast stone outdoor decorative water fountain. Very hard to find any available anywhere. Outdoor Supply Hardware had a half-dozen medium sized fountains displayed & running! Just enough choices and very helpful staff that helped us load. We bought two beautiful planters as well. I brought in a screen door and two window screens to be re-screened at the Paso Robles location; upon drop-off on Sat 6/3 was told screens would be done in a couple days. Called back on Sunday 6/13 and was told screens had not been completed and "Zack" would work on them in the afternoon; asked to speak to a manager; Manager did not provide his name and was unapologetic about the situation. His reply was "we've been really busy" completely ignoring or addressing the previous expectation that had been set of "ready in a couple days". Received call on Tuesday 6/15 that screens were ready for pickup; picked up the screens and upon reinstalling them found one of the window screens that had been straightened instead of replaced (as I had requested) was re-screened too tightly and is now bowed inward like an hourglass leaving a 1/4 gap for insects to come in through. I was greatly saddened when the old OSH closed down; it was my go to hardware store for the knowledge of the employees and great customer service. Now I feel that OSH was better off as a memory of what it used to be. We will not be returning to this store again. read more

I would give outdoor supply 0 stars if I could. I bought sump pump on Monday and when I checked out was told I could return it in 90 days if unopened and I tried to return it 5 days later only to be told they won't accept returns for sump pump. This store is a complete joke. It's no wonder it's always empty. I don't know how they stay in business. It's completely overpriced, $270 for basic sump pump. No wonder they were the only store in town that still had plenty left to sell. When I spoke to manager he looked high (eyes bloodshot and red) and he's just nodding his head as I talk and finished by saying he could probably give me a refund but chose not to based off our conversation. I've struck out with this store having what I need the past 5 visits. I end up going to Miners in Grover Beach to get what I'm needing. Today, I went to get a Honeywell Smart Thermostat (T9). They had one. It was $240. Home Depot has them for $169. The Honeywell online store has them regular $199 but on sale for $169. The markup over the suggested retail price is insane. No wonder there is never many people in this store. read more

I went to return a door lock in an unopened package. It was for a project delayed and finally cancelled by covid. Even though it was obviously unopened, the clerk said it was over the 90 day return limit and could not be returned. All the staff wears masks. The store is clean and has wide aisles. They are all friendly and ready to help. Very customer service oriented.
